New Arcade in NorCal (interest check)

Yeah, but that means a lot of drunk idiots starting fights over SF4

Last time I checked, its about 10k for a liquor license and it takes 6 months. Now it may be a little different in Cali.

Liquor License = money, yes, but an arcade itself will have trouble sustaining enough revenue from coin-op alone.

I say

tapioca express + arcade =

i meant the costs of getting one

IF anything you should try maybe doing some type of LAN center/arcade cafe type shit. at least that way you can get different audiecnes and have more to offer.

Yes. This.

Except maybe not a franchise so it’d be cheaper. Can’t be that hard to find the recipe for that powder base they use in their drinks!

They use Nesquick for their Chololate Milk Tea and Strawberry Milk Tea.

Nice Altered Beast avatar btw.

SF would be hard to get to for an Arcade but wat SF would really need is to bring back the good ole days of the Arcades at Pier 39 again…that place sux ass now n it used to have all the best Arcade Games back in the day…The metreon is now closing and they are selling a lot of their arcade cabs…might b a good time to see wat they have…

Yes! We all need something like this. Do it!

I imagine you’ve already got most of the floor planning done, but you may want to consider a small BYOC/pay-to-play area. I’ve seen such things rake in a decent amount of money, and I imagine an investment in some consoles and a handful of games would pay off relatively quickly.

I imagine it would also bring annoying children into the vicinity, but then again, they don’t seem to mind paying 3-4 dollars per hour to play Halo 3 a few years before they’re supposed to.

This would also open the door to BYOC tourneys for games you won’t have available on cabinet. I imagine the main issues with this idea would be the initial investment of the consoles and games, as well as the extra duty of enforcing/maintaining the customer’s game time.

San Mateo’s biggest organized fighting game community is actually Smash Brothers Melee so a BYOC might not be bad, especially with gamecube’s being so cheap

but why would you go out to play console when they can just play at thier moms houses?

because you have to pay royalty to whatever console you use.

Although I’m quoting you, I’m actually using it to state this:

If you guys can actually link us to case laws or sources supporting your statements, that would be much appreciated! I’m not trying to make anyone look bad, but it’s better to have the sources to these kinds of information. This would prevent any kind future legal allegations towards the arcade.

Anybody and everybody has the right to claim their statements as true, but there is nothing better than to have the cited sources to prove it even further/completely, which would make this discussion far far more efficient. Thanks!

Turns out a good amount of Smash kids are actually interested in Blazblue and even SF4, they also could use venues to hold their tournaments, also a good amount of them hang out downtown anyways

metreon is closing? wtf??

no way. They just GOT tekken 6 br (earlier last month). i doubt they will be closing any time soon.

i’m happy that metreon lowered their t6br to 75 cent (continue).

well this lan center i use to go to in stockton back then didnt let people bring ps2’s when they had our biweeklies for 3s because they had a contract with xbox and they didnt let the smash kids bring gamecubes neither. im just going by that.

Smash Kids? Playing Blazblue? I hope they brought their diapers.
