New Arcade in NorCal (interest check)

Why did Michael Jackson like Boyz II Men?

It sucks that people in the US aren’t accustomed to competitive play in arcades. I have just recently moved down near Sunnyvale Golfland and I have been blowing so much money there…but then, I don’t see it as blowing money, I see it as paying to play excellent players. I guess the problem is that there isn’t enough good players to make it worth the while of the majority of people. If everyone started meeting up at any given venue, and were dedicated toward improving their respective game, we could see a lot of great players coming out of our communities.

Made me laugh hella hard

I don’t know if LAN centers would be a good idea. LAN centers used to be huge in San Mateo back in the day. Like 6 years ago, there used to be 4 of them and one of them was right next to the movie theater. But because everyone has a computer now and this area is well off, all of them shut down. I don’t think there’s a LAN center within 20 miles here.

But yeah, I think San Mateo is a good location for an arcade, since Malibu sucks nut now and it takes 20 minutes to get to sunnyvale/SFSU. Plus you have a bridge for east bay visitors (assuming they wanna pay the toll =/ )

There’s no real crime in this area either…that is, if you count the hilsdale high school bombing one…LOL (too soon, I’m such a bad person but I came from a school that rivaled them)

Seconded, but I got a clean background, law abiding citizen here

…You disappoint me!

square

I’m clean, and also a law abiding citizen.

pimps do what they want to do, hoes do what they told, and a square does what he can

I’m alright with being a square if I work in an arcade

Hey Kaz,

Thanks for the heads up. I read the city ordinance and it said that arcades could be in any commercial zone. It had a few other pesky ordinances, but those are things I’d kind of want to follow anyway (surveillance system installed, decent lighting, no minors after 10pm). How “pulled the trigger” have you gone? Right now, I’m negotiating the lease with the landlord. He gave me a sucker’s lease that was meant to be negotiated down, so I gave it to a professional to see how much he thinks I could push back on it. I’ve lined up bids for machines with a couple of vendors. But I haven’t put money down on anything yet. Where/how far along are you on your plans (feel free to PM me too)?

aww no minors after 10pm?
