My statement is as true as the size of my dick. Wait a minute… fuckkkkkk
The other thing people never talked about is crime. In San Mateo, there is almost none. If I get a window broken or a cab messed up, that’s an expense that would really break me. That’s not to say that won’t happen in San Mateo, but it’s certainly less likely to happen (espcially because that location is about a block from the San Mateo Police Department). As for people who say it’s too far, BART runs to Millbrae, where you can transfer to CalTrain which will take you to my doorstep. Last train leaves San Mateo for Millbrae at 11:30 pm, so plenty of time.
i just think of denjin where there was loads of traffic earlier when people where excited, but now its kind of dead and looking for ways t pull people in.
And right there is my worst nightmare. I’m not worried about the first few months, rather, it’s later on down the line. All this thinking about stuff is to try and keep that drop in business from happening.
SF to San Mateo isn’t too bad at all. You hop onto highway 101 and youll be there in a jiffy. If you don’t have a car, then that’s a different story
I’d research Lucky JuJu a little bit. They, like you, can’t count on the game devs to keep the coin-op portion of the medium fresh and up-to-date. Although they have a leg up in the situation since Joe Blow can’t just play these games at home (we can all play SF4 at any time at anyone’s spot for free…unless you own the machine, you can’t really play Addam’s Family or Gorgon). They also only open on Friday/Saturday.
I’ve always wondered if a “club” set up would work out here for Street Fighter. Like the moose lodge or order of the waterbuffalo. Someplace where people pay monthly dues in order to keep the doors open and hardware up to date in some cheap hole-in-the-wall. Open it up once or twice a week, like Lucky JuJu. Enh?
I too live in the city, but while this may be true, you would still have to pay toll if it was in San Mateo. And while there might not be parking in the city, a location in the city might be more accessible through public transportation, depending on location.
As for it being in San Mateo, gives me a place to go to after I get Santa Ramen, lol.
i heard santa ramen isn’t as good as it used to anymore =[
Downtown San Mateo is the business of a spot. Crack, how many people did we get for that SF4 charity tournament at Play N Trade? Not to mention that there’s a big group of kids that just chill around the PNT killing time and I’m sure they’d somehow help out the arcade with advertising or whatever
Not to mention we’ve got movies, play n trade itself, crazy good food all around (all different types), atlas and turf (streetwear stores, very nice stuff). Downtown San Mateo is stepping it’s game up.
And yes, SF parking tolls, traffic and everything would be problem for me
Still pretty good though.
ILLiterate summed up what I was going to say about Downtown San Mateo. It’s a very nice spot, tons of foot traffic, lots of great places to eat in all different styles of cuisine, a great local game shop in Play’n’Trade, clothing stores and more. It’s very legit and easily accessible. If the arcade is in Downtown San Mateo, there will be plenty for you to do when in the area.
I love San Francisco, but it’s a lot to ask for out-of-towners, and if you want to do a big event, even worse. Unless the arcade was like, in the heart of downtown by Union Square, the SF-factor wouldn’t that great since locals, and only locals would make the business.
Myung: Any new ideas on what to pair the arcade up with? In Downtown San Mateo, trying to go the arcade + food route may not be a good idea since you’ll be surrounded by tons of well established, affordable places to eat.
While it wasn’t as good as before, way better than any other ramen place out here.
Yeah, it won’t be a major food operation (that way I can avoid the food service license). It will be mostly snacks and such, but I think I can put a small twist on it that might keep people coming back (don’t want to tilt my hand just yet). But natrually, there will be other business conducted (parts sales, custom stick showcase, maybe even PCB and jamma arcade board selling/trading).
Downtown san mateo is definitely improving with a nice variety of food and unique specialty stores. But it does not have that great of foot traffic as people are making seem to be.
I lived in san mateo for four years and being familiar with that area, it has never been that popular especially with the younger crowd.
an upside is that a lot of kids do hangout around that area, especially around the movies, to catch the caltrain to go to/from school.
Snag a food service licence and you might break even on cash in a few months
Just sell drugs and firearms on the side and use this as a cover.
After reading the pro-San Mateo messages it seems that this place is legit. I take back what I said about SF.
I went three times over the past few months, and you’re right… Not as tasty and a little pricey for the amount you get. :lame:
boo. that sucks. we need a new hella good ramen shop in norcal.
My 2 cents… get a liquor license.
liquor license = money
lots of it
