That will be a problem for the online tourneys.

Hmmm don’t worry guys we’ll figure something out.

Hey check this out:

I tweeted the guy asking if it’s ok to link this website. It’s a running playlist of archived videos from YouTube. A lot of what TheShend found in NicoNico is there, but he also has an entire day devoted to non Japanese players: Western Thursday.

Good find?

Yeah man good find, didnt even know about that one. The release is right around the corner, hmmm hope we can get everything organized soon.

Personally, I don’t see many problems with it.You guys should just ask both players to tell the results and post the video fights. If there’s discrepancy between results, disqualify both players, this way people would be less inclined to lie about the results.

So if I lose and have no respect for the guy who beat me, I can get him DQ’d?

You guys are smoking something good. Players can upload their matches with a custom title. All they need to do is make the title: “TheBlackHombre (Ken) vs Excelancer (Chun Li) 3SE Match 1/3”

There needs to be a way to tell who won without relying on the players. It has to be as close to third-person perspective as if you were watching.

Exactly.

Maybe we’ll have to do it “old-school” and monitor all of the matches as they’re happening or we could record them. Who has recording equipment? The “old-school” method takes too much manpower. We need to find a way where one or two people can run a 16-man bracket in under 2 hrs. Having players play one-by-one simply takes too long.

Speaking of single player brackets, single-or double elimination?

I really like this idea.
What type face is that?
Personally I’d suggest maybe increasing the tracking on the letters, especially between the R and E, just to give it a but of room to breathe.
I’d also suggest making Oro slightly bigger, at least to see what it looks like, just so his head and foot rise above and drop below the text.
It looks like the red is pretty much max red value so, assuming you’re working in RGB, I’d say drop it down to around 180-200 just to make it a little richer.
Oh, and I’d personally drop the ‘grime’, at least as a test to see how it looks when nice and clean.

It’s a cool idea, the type and character colours could be changed to suit whatever background it’s on, maybe there could even eventually be a version for each character, I’m sure every character has at least one sprite suitable for redrawing as a vector and using as the ‘I’.

I’m a graphic designer myself, more print than web (though I have done a fair bit of web graphics for the company I started out with, just not particularly au fait with the coding side), and I’d be happy to contribute towards the site if need be.

I’ve already ran some online tournaments on ggpo and this never happened, people were pretty honest about the results. This was the best idea I could come up for a tournament being held online without the need of a judge in case teh replays from the players were different.

If you want to run a bracket under 2hrs I think it is best to run a single elimination tournament…

I ran an offline side tourney double elim for AE which went really fast (including button check), but that was b/c everyone was immediately ready to play. Then again, maybe we should start with the honest-system b/c that’s what really keeps things moving.

We could also ask any spectators who were watching.

Alright update on the site. Had to get started late on it becuz I was at my uni without internet for awhile. Could not finish Fight Your Rival/Tournaments becuz of it. I will launch the site in 2 days. Website will have music player, great design, character selection screen, and everything else that it should normally have (articles, submit content, etc).

Not necessarily the same day.
I don’t to burden the people who will honestly follow the rules. I do like the suggestion of promptness. Maybe 3 days? If not submitted on time, then the first video is taken as is? During those 3 days, it’s not like they can’t play other people. I’m more worried about how to handle a regular flow of videos.

The Fight Your Rival happen everyday, weekly, bimonthly, or monthly? I forgot what we discussed.
