I don’t know why people have their heads in the sand about this "new design."
There is nothing new about it!
If one of these “new” joysticks is a silent joystick, great… Seimitsu finally got a silent joystick 2-3 years after the Silent JLF and Paradise silent mods! LOL
This is what’s to laugh about the Seimitsu announcement. Kind of too little, too late.
The last positive thing Seimitsu did for their business years back was putting the PS-14-K (original plug-in Skeleton buttons) back into production when there was an obvious demand for more transparent buttons. That was timely, very good business for them I’m sure. I wish there was positive movement on their stick front!
Keep in mind Seimitsu is not primarily a Arcade parts manufacturer the way Sanwa is.
Seimitsu is primarily a industrial and instrumental company that have branched off into a hundred different fields of technological research.
Seimitsu’s agricultural division has more funding than the arcade parts portion of the company.
The one thing Seimitsu does mostly right (in their arcade business) is their buttons. They still have really nice buttons that are hard to beat. Their biggest problem is inconsistency and that awful model naming convention they have.
I feel like they’re losing the relevancy race in sticks, but at least their buttons will always be a thing. No one offers as many options as they do. I would love to see some new buttons from them, and hope this new show has some new buttons for everyone
I feel the same moonchilde… Im secretly hoping for clear or transparent ps-14-g buttons, if seimitsu uttered even a hint that they exist my wallet would hit the screen light speed
I’m curious: do all the people who like Seimitsu buttons do so primarily because of aesthetics? My favorite buttons today are the HBFS-30-G2 with Cherry MX Red microswitches and the Sanwa OBSF-30, because of their sensibility and “ease of sliding”. From what I recall, Seimitsu buttons aren’t good for sliding…
@Magus you should use a multitude of buttons and find which one is the best for you… i used the sanwas, ps-14-g, ps-15 and ps-14-kn and found i liked the ps-14-g’s better and sent the rest back.
Well, which model would you call sensitive enough to work for sliding?
Hmmm. How would you describe these models? I purchased eight Seimitsu PS-14-G buttons in 2010. I remember they weren’t nearly as sensitive as Sanwa OBSF, and though I didn’t even use to slide my fingers on buttons back then, I doubt that would work very well.
This is all off-topic but PS-14-G are the only flat-top buttons and aren’t conducive to slide techniques. All the other common Seimitsu buttons have convex plungers just like Sanwa. They do tend to stand a little higher but I don’t think it is too hard to adapt to that.
PS-14-GN-C and PS-14-KN buttons are pretty low though so those would most likely be ideal. The switches are fairly sensitive as well, but still snappy and not mushy.
Nice color balltop to go with the future Hayabusa purchases!
I don’t usually like the Seimitsu plastic colors so much to be honest… They’re much more muted and desatured compared to the plastic colors I’ve seen from both Sanwa and Hori.
Aside from bubbletops, I don’t generally care for Seimitsu balltop handles, either.
Personally, I think the green balltops are closer appearance-wise to green bananas… They just have to a bit more deformed and oval-shaped like the balltop handles Creative Circuits sells…
If they had plastic stripe seams like real tennis balls, I’d be more inclined to call them that! LOL
