In all seriousness, I think this David Hinds guy just confirmed that Capcom is taking specific measures to make Poison (and the other newbies) strong enough.
I think it’s safe now to say that the dev team are hearing our concerns. Now we’re pretty much guaranteed to have some great gameplay to go with our great cosplayers ifyaknowwhatimsayin.
I think she will end up mid tier at best, I dont really see much going for her if she doesnt have meter and because her XT game is gone she will have to be played on a whole new level with her neutral game, I can see grapplers eating her alive
I play her a little in cross, make EX rekka invincible on start-up and projectile invincible then maybe, they would also have to something about her DP as its one the worst in cross and if her ex grab goes full screen like in cross then yes im in on board…
I don’t get it either. Perhaps they meant Cr.Mk? I still don’t think Cr.Mk will be so godlike if that’s the case. I also do not understand why we need ex Rekkas to go through fireballs when we have LMT / ex LMT? Poison’s DP is not meant to be used like a shoryuken - it’s more a get off me move and can deal with cross-ups you can also use it as an anti-air but need to catch your opponent closer to the ground (i used MK KBG all the time!! The HK version i only used as a combo ender. - As I mentioned previously, it seems people treat Poison like a Shoto and IMO she cannot fill that role particularly well. (this is obviously all based on how she currently plays in SFxT).
Overall, I am really happy to hear some of the specific feedback regarding Poison. Sounds like she is going to be pretty decent. She has the fundamentals to make a good character
I wonder if it is just the existing fighters that will be receiving “something new” or if the xT characters qualify (with the obvious exceptions of new ultras, supers, focus attacks etc.) maybe a new universal mechanic? or new special moves like Ryu’s Donkey Kick or Abel’s Shoulder tackle etc. Maybe they can give Chun her rising kicks from alpha (instead of just making it a target combo ender) still as a chargeable D, U K and then change the motion of SBK so that we can get more use out of it – let Chun bridge the gap between charge and motion characters (her hazanshu and SBK can be motion moves - rising kicks and kikoken can be charge moves).
I doubt we will get chun’s rising kicks in light of her df lk buff though
Wholeheartedly agree. Her being a shoto can’t be further from the truth. More like a Fei/Gouken mix.
I’d love them to keep her a jack of all trades; master of none, but still solid enough to win, if all her tools are used properly and mixed accordingly.
Gimme better cr.mk hitbox, charging fireballs and a good set of ultras. Normalize the rest for SF4 ruleset (throws, etc.). All I need.
Speaking of ultras…cr.mk/whatever > KBG > FADC > SFxT Ultra into corner pressure with fireballs because all that shit could possibly move you across half the damn stage? Does that sound sexy or what?!

her Cr.lk was really good as her pokes to get setups going and had nice range kind of like julia’s and cody’s pre 2013 patch

I actually still like the idea of her final EX WoL/ Rekkas (4th hit) launching for a bit more comboability (since SF4 has four bars instead of the very limiting three bars in SFxT I really do believe this will be a much more viable tactic to combo from… furthermore in SFxT you required meter for almost anything… in SF4 its mainly for super, ex moves or FADC):
So… Cr.MK, Ex WoL x4 (final hit launches), Cr.MK into ultra fireball (aka SFxT super art)… Actually can most of the cast combo into their ultras in such a way (i.e. Cr.MK into ultra)? Which makes me think Poison’s Super fireball may be retained as her super in SF4 — this will be quite sad though since a very reliable way of getting the super fireball to connect (in SFxT) is to combo from EX Rekkas which will use up 1 bar meaning not enough bars for her super fireball in SF4? I wouldn’t like her super fireball to be her actual super in SF4 I do not see how we would be able to combo into it then?
to add on to your fictional combo Larthy (it would require 3 bars of meter however): Cr.MK, EX WoL x4 (1 bar), Cl.HP, KBG, FADC (2 bars), SFxT Ultra…
In SFxT Poison could get 300 damage off of EX WoL, Cl.HP, LMT + followup… If she retains that damage potential she would be quite awesome in SF4 - the damage was awful in SFxT considering you had two life bars to deal with and almost any other character could do that damage without the use of meter!!
@ Shadow Ace, Yes but understand that Cr. :lp: is better than Cr. :lk: in mostly every way except for not being able to hit low…there is no reason to use it outside of fishing for a hit-confirm.
I don’t see it as a “Saving Grace”, imo that would be stuff like her J. :hk: which is heavily underused because it is actually better than J. :hp: in almost every way(it even has a hitbox above her head but isn’t a ambiguous crossup. ). Post Patch Cr. :hp: is almost a “Saving Grace” because it’s useful now for more than just a AA.
I could go into details but my honest opinion, some may or may not agree with me but Cr. :lk: is far from a top 10 move for her, let alone a “Saving Grace”.

And are you serious about her damage coming from meter? Wow I didn’t know characters hit more with meter…
On a less troll note. Her meterless damage in SFxT was on par with SF4’s average damage with far less effort I might add. And I doubt she is going to have meter issues because you have 4 bars and you can gain meter on projectile whiff. That alone is a great change that buffs her zoning. She literally has everything besides a way to alter her jump arc. Hell simple pokes that were pretty meh in SFxT would shift the match in her favor easily because the lack of tagging into your partner to heal off damage.
And make EX Rekka invincible? Smh… I thought some of eccromancer’s request were a bit over the top. But now I understand how tame they were.

How is she going to have issues VS grapplers with a projectile that varies in distance and velocity, a dp, and a good backdash…? I mean geez rose has a bad fireball and no good reversal and she can hold her own against grapplers well. Juri has a weird fireball and normals that don’t reach as far and she does well against grapplers. In fact the hardest thing for a grappler to do is deal with fireballs. =|
