Hmpf, that made me think whether we’d be able to KBG FADC Ultra, or have to use EX Rekka for that (3-meter, nyuuuh). I guess the latter? What other usage would that move have in SF4, unless they completely revamped it? Your question gave me even more of my own, gah! ;D

EX rekka may just push the opponent into the corner, my theory is that it’s only combo’able in the corner.

We don’t even know what her Ultra’s are yet, so it hard to predict ultra setups. For all we know the SFxT Super becoming U1 maybe slower on startup and only combo’able off a CH j. :hp: granted that even get’s juggle properties. Ultra 2 could be anything really…Anti-Air, Command Throw, Counter, Buff, etc.

Truth be told, I’ve pretty much tuned out Ultra SFIV until they are willing to show more of the game, teasers don’t really do it for me.

Does anyone think that it would be wise to pick up SFxt to get a feel for poisons move sets, or do you think it will be so different that one should wait for Ultra?

I had my doubts but after picking up SFxT recently on a steam sale, I say pick it up definitely! It is an incredible game stressing spacing and footsies, no vortex, no unblockables, just solid fundamentals. Though I’m sure the SF4 versions of Rolento, Elena, Poison, Hugo will be substantially different I think they are going to retain all the same specials and many of the same normals. Properties of moves may change though, but u should get a decent feel of how these characters work.

All that would really change, moving from SFxT to USF4, is the timings; tighter links, less options when it comes to juggles, …system stuff. But getting the feel of her playstyle? Yeah, go ahead :3

That will be really disappointing IMO :frowning: Don’t get me wrong I think Poison is going to be really deadly once she has you in the corner (She may even benefit from Red Focus - bait a flurry of moves if they are struggling with Poison’s Corner Pressure??) I just liked EX Rekkas for its versatility (it would be nice if she glows yellow only on the 4th hit, so your opponent remains uncertain as to whether it is only 3 hits or 4 - but I doubt that will happen). EX Rekkas had less raw damage to normal Rekkas (in xT), so the whole point would be for the launcher to add combo possibilities to Poison’s repertoire (EX Rekka launcher St.hp into Hk KBG would also push opponent into corner - so I hope they don’t take away that possibility, it would also be away to combo into ultra? However it is all just speculation, as we don’t really know her move properties yet… she may have other ways to combo into ultra/super - it would be nice if her EX LMT throws opponent against wall for a wall bounce…

Without adjusted move properties (or additional moves) she may not be very big in the combo department … it’s possible that Poison may be all about the fundamentals… which may not necessarily be a bad thing. I do see her benefiting from CH combos though i.e. CH Cr.HP into LK LMT or CH HP fireball into lk.LMT etc…

I went undefeated at an anime convention for like 2 hours playing as Poison, no one understood how slow she was. XD I cant wait to try her out in Ultra. The guys at the arcade I go to will blow me up, but Ill just be the Poison player.

She’s going to zone worse in USF4, I think. She won’t have her SFxT ability to CADC and perform fake fireballs, and will also have to deal with focus attacks. Fireballs, while still not too overwhelming, are better in SFxT than they are in SF4.

I think Poison has a really decent walk speed (Lili received the same Walk speed as Poison after the update?). If I remember correctly Poison had the fastest forwward dash in vanilla sfxt? I think after the update she still had the fastest dash tied with Ogre - although her forward dash was slightly nerfed. She has a backflip which is great for getting out of sticky situations.

Granted her normals (such as st.Hp were terribad and couldn’t be used effectively as pokes) BUT judging by early footage of Poison in the trailers the speed of st.HP has been improved. I hope they make her st.Mp a little better, I see it as being a good anti-air, but in SFxT it just didn’t seem to work well - however the fact that USF4 will probably be a little “slower” will assist in her st.mp getting more usage as an anti-air… it would be pretty awesome if they made the whole move cancellable (not just the ground/ horizontal/ lower animation) which could lead to a few added combos to Poison’s game and assist in her corner pressure.

Hopefully her backflip works out better than Vega’s. Her DP is also kinda wacky, but at least she has one. Isn’t her F+Mk a great poke? It has huge range due to how tall Poison is.

Agreed. Her overhead left her in such a bad position even on hit!! on counter hit she could possibly combo- but combo with what really, outside of EX Rekkas? So I do really hope her overhead is much better in this version!!

I haven’t played SfxT in quite some time (outside of playing a bit tonight before my exams start :p). Her backflip looks faster than in sfxt, which imo is a needed improvement - I think it can be used as a defensive wake-up option? Her DP isn’t the best admittedly, BUT (and I do hope they keep it that way) it has the potential to stuff up cross up attempts, since for a certain period her legs actually hit on both sides of her. If the DP keeps that property I think it will be a great tool to use in USF4? I honestly don’t remember what f+mk does, I don’t think I have ever used it before? I know f+mp (overhead)? her standing mk did have a bit of range on it though.

She doesn’t have a f+mk I think he means her far mk.

Honestly though, after playing Rose and having soul throw come out instead of ultra or when I’m poking with cr.MP I just want a character who has decent normals, a fireball, and inputs that aren’t conflicting…oh and doesn’t suck like Juri. Give Poison a decent throw and a mainstay position in the roster and I’m happy.

Yeah I was referring to Poison’s far MK. I played through SFxT PoisonXHugo story mode (gradually playing through everyone’s) so I’m not really an expert.

Out of the SFxT characters being brought over Poison is really the only one I’m interested so I really have high hopes for her.

Her kick moves have two issues in general; they’re either too slow, or don’t have range (most extreme example being her cr.MK, my god). Using her whip normals eliminates both problems most of the time.

But that was in SFxT. Who knows what kind of changes she actually goes through…

Yeah, another benefit (I think) to her whip moves is the fact that they don’t have hurt boxes??? (don’t quote me on this though).

edit: I mean there are no hurt boxes on the whip itself.

I just think, for a character with a weapon (like claw or rolento), Poison just doesn’t have decent range (and when she does aka st.HP) its just way too slow. Perhaps Capcom will give Poison a unique move that gives a little bit of distance? I do believe Poison is really good up close though, so make at least one of her pokes decent - she is usually out-poked in sfxt imo and her LMT just doesn’t come out fast enough to deal with other characters pokes.

I really would like her to keep her CADC fireball, with red focus and double ultra, I don’t think keeping her charge attack would be game breaking - it would be similar to Gouken. Obviously don’t let her get a free super from charging, but maybe she can charge a 3 hit fireball or something? I think it could help her zoning game as well as give her some tools for mind games. CADC could also give her “unique”, albeit difficult, combo opportunities, similar to FADC combos (without being able to crumple obviously).

Charge as in being able to choose when to release? Sure. 3-hit fireball? Naw. Realistically, there’s no way that would happen.

With red focus, it may actually be more dangerous to charge a 3 hit fireball - it means you actually giving your opponent ultra, So I do not see it being so unrealistic?
