Agreed. Crouching HP was a really good anti-air. in fact she could combo off of it on CH - LK LMT and its follow up are really good options after CH cr.HP. (CH Cr.HP into LK LMT + follow up). it’s even better after 2013 update since it is faster - can even use it in combos. I think you can even link cr.LP into cr.HP? im not certain, but it seemed to worked once for me in training mode - I do prefer the cr.mk link though.

I think that argument needs to die. I’m pretty sure even capcom acknowledges her being a female at this point. originally yes poison was designed as a tranny, but if you look at the character model (however exaggerated) poison has the widest hips of any female character and the largest difference in shoulder to hip ratio. capcom specifically made this character design inherently female regardless of what their original intent was. as shakira said… hips don’t lie

I am reluctant to agree with this (I really want to). As much as I want Poison to have a stronger zoning game, I actually believe Poison is going to be all about pressure. Once she is in, it is going to be very difficult to get her off of you - however I think she can also handle the “long distant relationships” :wink: with her fireball- I just don’t think long distance is her thing - hehe

I just don’t really see her having the tools to compete with chun/Rose’s zoning game. Chun can walk behind her fireball (and her air game is pretty solid), not to mention st.HP having a decent distance and giving her a decent far-reaching anti-air (also Hazanshu goes over other fireballs). Rose has very long limbs together with soul throw, Cr.HP, a slide and quite a large fireball (also has reflect to deal with other fireballs). What does Poison really have to zone with (i.t.o. her current SFxT build)? Her fireball that doesn’t go full screen (and she cannot really walk behind, because her recovery takes too long), perhaps st.HP (it just seems way to slow), perhaps st.MP ( I can’t seem to really use it effectively though), and possibly LMT (or more effectively ex LMT) which she could get knocked out of?

She does have tools to zone with, I just think (as currently, from SFxT) they are not very good tools compared to the other characters? Don’t think you can really zone with Rekkas, KBG or backflip (I could be wrong)?

I do think her zoning game will be better in the SF4 engine though (fireball and LMT).

I think on paper she has all the tools to control the space from many different spaces - but it’s all just a ploy to get her in… once she is in, she going to be really difficult to shake off! Without rolls, Poison’s pressure game (hopefully) will be a lot stronger!!

I hope they improve st.MP - it was basically useless in SFxT outside of perhaps a corner (st.MP into HP fireball - if they try jump out the corner st.MP will hit, if they stay blocking in the corner you effectively cancel st.MP into a fireball for more pressure options). St.Mp could potentially improve her zoning game (could have a better horizontal and vertical hitbox)… in fact I would like a few of her moves to have better hitboxes, but st.MP has the most potential here imho.

On a side note: I absolutely LOVE Poison’s walk forward animation (in SFxT)… I just love the strut and the way she sways - almost like she is thinking “As much as you want to run away, I AM going to catch you and do unspeakable things to you…” :stuck_out_tongue:

I liked that super where she blows a kiss, and the heart stays on screen for a few seconds? Could potentially give us cross-up combos i.e. blow kiss (it remains on screen for few seconds), cross up combo into the heart? it didn’t do much damage though :frowning: Didn’t she also have an air throw in that game? She would have 10x better zoning potential if they gave her that whip :stuck_out_tongue:

They could maybe give her her hand-cuff fireball (as a SRK motion?) - it froze the opponent for a split second when connected - could allow her to setup combo’s etc.

I’ve seen Rufus using an 18 frame move, Juri using 15, and Rose with 11, so I’m certain Poison’s 14 frame move can do just fine. And zoning in general was bad in SFxT. The fact that most jumpins aren’t as dominant and the stages are smaller in SF4 would do her zoning game wonders. In fact I would prefer for her to be a zoner in general the hate mail you get is so rich. xD

Sidenote: Rose’s cr.hp is so fucking whack just follow Kawaguuchi’s example and never touch that button.

I am not saying Poison can’t zone. I am just saying, I do not see it being all that great compared to other characters. As I mentioned earlier - a Jack/Jill of all trades, but master of none. I think you are going to be able to play Poison offensively and defensively but she isn’t going to be A+ material in either department. I just think (at least from SFxT) that her pressure game is going to be pretty decent in SF4 (unless they ruin LMT - from the trailer it just seems to go TOO high and thus much easier to watch out for or react to).

I just don’t see Poison controlling space as well as other? her moves just don’t seem to work that way in my mind. If they buff St. MP, then she could have better zoning potential. She could control space with her different fireballs and some of her normals, but her zoning game just doesn’t feel “complete” like other characters, at least in my opinion.

About Poison. I definitely feel she will need to zone well to keep people out until she can start some sort of close-up pressure.
I don’t really like SFXT, but I might play it a bit again just for Poison.

No… It’s not amazing Sakura’s cr.HP is amazing. Juri’s cr.MP is amazing. Makoto’s cr.MK,st.mk,st.mp is amazing. Someone can throw you walk up as close as possible then neutral jump, and Rose’s cr.HP would whiff. CH cl.MK > cr.HP whiffs often as well, because the hitbox follows her hand instead of following the scarf. That move is whack and I will never touch that button again.

On other unrelated news I just noticed that Dragon’s Crown Amazon class Japanese VA is the same as Poison’s JP voice. I’m now switching from the loli elf to an Amazon named “Poison” ;D

Can someone please convince me not to waste my money on this!

For u poison fans, apparently they have been working hard on balancing her, Rolento and the other SFxT characters. They will reveal something new next week. The wording strongly indicates finally unveiling the 5th new character, as well as perhaps further discussing how Rolento, Poison, Elena, and Hugo are coming along.

I don’t see any reason why she wouldn’t keep it that way. Most of the cast will probably get wackier stuff in the end.

It’s $400 bucks. I know it’s Poison and all, but I for one cannot justify that to myself. $400 can go a long way…
