Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Jenna Talackova get sex reassignment surgery at 19? The way it’s commonly used, “trap” refers to unexpected (and undesired) “exterior packaging” that still remains, a la Crying Game. Jenna doesn’t have it anymore, so now the shoe fits, if you know what I mean.
Besides, I think we’ve established that it’s not a trap if you know what to expect and want to be caught.
Because they’ll either break your heart, steal your wallet, or leave you lying in the bathtub without a kidney the next morning. Which do you suppose Poison is capable of?
Innocent me… you learn something new every day. Yes I think you are right.
Then is Poison technically a “trap”? In Japan yes as I believe she is considered pre-op. However due to male hormone outcries and the possibility of finding a “man” attractive seemed too much for the western world? So i think else-where Poison is considered Post-op and therefore is not really a trap?
Well I was watching the USF4 trailer again and I noticed that Poison’s EX LMT goes really high in the air. she is around Viper’s head before the attack connects - I am sure in SFxT it would be around the shoulders at least?
Would this influence the usefulness of the move (EX/ Normal)? It seems like it will be a lot easier to go over fireballs but at the expense of it becoming easier to see and block (or even hit her straight out of the animation)?
I do hope they give Poison an effective way to combo into her super (whatever they decide to give her as her super). right now I do not see any viable means to do so - except via Cr.Mk > super. Perhaps KBG would give us the opportunity to connect her super?
You are right. Poison has a variety of different tools - she is like a Jill/Jack of All trades but master of none type of character. Thing is that style didn’t work in the SFxT game and I am hopeful she will be far superior in the SF4 engine
What…? I seriously don’t understand what you’re saying. But if you think Poison has better tools than Chun Li in SFxT I think you just played bad players. And just because she could’ve been worse doesn’t excuse the fact that she could’ve been better and more in tune with the mechanics of SFxT.
He? Poison WAS terrible for SFxT, since she had ZERO team synergy (and no damage from whatever team stuff you could find). Try to look at people like Jibbo or Valle, look at characters like Hwoarang, Jin, Kazuya, Ryu…that’s how the game is played.
Not to rain on the parade but why are you guys replying to ILahar? He obviously has no freaking clue what he’s talking about…just ignore him.
We all know how Poison was in SFxT and yes I understand that it’s all we have in terms of how she is more or less going to play like in USFIV but I would like to avoid using SFxT as a base for discussion about said character unless there are some real factual things to discuss about it as there is alot we dont know about the character in Ultra.
Honestly we wont know much until notes or a location test goes live and until then everything is pretty much speculation, not that it’s a bad thing, but I think speculation goes hand in hand with getting your hope up when shit starts to hit the fan.
I talked with Haunts for a bit and he said that they are just really starting the balance changes(for everyone) so it’s going to take some time before we hear anything about Poison in particular since the priority is characters who are already there before the additional characters and the long debugging process.
Other than that, my guess is as good as yours guys~
Anybody else think Poison’s hitboxes need to be buffed? Her whip normals seem to have no range at all. The only decent poke I found was her s.Hp and even that seems mediocre. And I haven’t played SfxT in a long time but is c.Hp a viable anti air?? I only ever had success with her s.Hk but I never really tried her c.Hp. It seems to do the job in training mode I just don’t know how practical it is in a real match. Her s.Mp seems to trade alot too. I kinda wish her kicks hitboxes matched the in game models too.
I didn’t play that much SFXT, but I do remember using C.HP as an anti-air a lot. I remember you have to be use it pretty quickly though, but that could just be me remembering it wrong.
How do you guys think she’ll be played in USF4?
My guess is a zoning character.
This^ Unless they give her offensive options some buffs(WoL rekka, Lmt, overheads, and etc…)
All Poison really had in SfxT was her fireball game and corner pressure but she didn’t have anything to fall back on.
I hope she makes the transition from SFxT to USF4 more intact than not. Her overhead could use some huge buffs though. If they bring it over as-is (which I doubt), it’ll be the worst overhead in the entire game.
