Neutral Jump Fighter V

Jumps are OP in general man.

Jump ins you can literally traverse half the screen, missing all active hitboxes and land a BIG combo.

Now if only there was a way around these OP tactics…

Well yeah. 38 or 39 jumps is reasonable, but FORTY jumps? That’s just silliness.

Neutral jumps are OP?

I’ve heard it all now…

Step 1: Go into training mode
Step 2: Figure out what beats neutral jumps
Step 3: Practice Said Thing
Step 4: Profit

Ryu j.MPxxEX Tatsu for 250 Damage and tons of stun…Works like a charm for me. That or just cancel into normal tatsu for 200 damage and hard knock down.

If your opponent is neutral jumping a lot you have the following options:

  1. AA them
  2. Met them in the air and use a faster normal since everyone only uses their cross-up normal (which is slower)
  3. If you have it, air throw them
  4. If point blank, you can sometimes dash under and then just get a free attack

Nitpick fighter 5, I don’t want to condition the opponent edition.
One anti air should be all it takes. If not do it again.

To me it’s just because the AA in this game is pretty low damaging. Yeah yeah mixups/air resets whatever, but a 50% nash crossup ultra does more damage than a FANG st.mk AA ya know (thank god for cr.hp super tho)

And neutral jumps were also strong in ST. O.Chun’s nj.rh in particular stuffed a lot of things.

Bad players neutral jumped constantly in sf4 too, it isn’t even a game specific thing. People that couldn’t do their character’s anti-airs would do it preemptively to try to air-to-air, or people would neutral jump on their wake-up because it “beats” grabs and low level players can’t react to it. As soon as you cornered them, they’d start doing jump back roundhouse. That was like advanced scrub tactics in sf4 once you realized jumping forward was bad.

Most people don’t have neutral jump specific attacks, I anti air them as normal. Not really a issue.

sim has about 6 antiairs.
mika has some safe ground moves that reset an air fella for a lucky spin every once in a while.
gief is armor.
nash is nash.
laura got airsmash and fireworks for pressure.
bison is bison.
shotos have shoryu.
ryu has parry.
birdie has that weird normal headbutt where he stays on the ground.
