this game is so fucking bad online. i dont play too often but every time i do i remember how bad online is in this game. i go into training and everything is gravy. then i go online and input after input is dropped. really annoying.
3S will always be life.
Skullgirls for next life.
If you are dropping stuff online you need to seriously consider getting better internet with less latency. SFxT is the first game I’ve played where I can go into training mode then immediately go online and use what I’ve learned without even having to adjust.
If you’re dropping things it’s either your problem and you’re dropping combos or you have horrid internet.
So, with the new patch supposedly adding a bit more input lag, the question now is, does it still use rollbacks or do we suddenly have to deal with SFIV style variable input lag.
All I have to go on for that statement is whoever wrote that front page article saying he might have felt more lag. I gotta see for myself/ hear from more people.
Some people are saying there’s more input lag, and some people are saying there’s no difference. If things are so similar that there isn’t a consensus then I’m not really worried.
Was probably a bad idea to put that line about the lag in the front page article, because people are gonna be acting like fools until tomorrow based on one dude’s wishy-washy anecdote.
edit: thought it wasn’t gonna be up until later for xbox but it’s up now. Definitely feels like there’s more input lag so far.
Netcode is much worse now. The best thing about this game was the netcode, which is now ruined, in my honest opinion. Rollbacks like crazy, with additional input delay (feels like 2-3 frames) and a lot of random slow down or jitters. In a lot of the games I played tonight the input delay feels like SF4…
I can’t even do my combos without hesitation anymore, it feels all wonky to me in the games I’ve played.
I’d much rather have limited sound.
No difference for me. Netcode is still fine.
I was playing a few minutes into post-patch time and it was running great for me. Then again I usually don’t have problems with lag here on campus.
Just played a few matches on live I was doing electrics like normal but I hope that isn’t due to any type of luck anyway seemed fine to me. I hope people are just jumping the gun on this because of what the guy said on the front page!
Dunno, I could feel it as soon as I hit jab when rounds start. Definitely a frame or two of additional delay…
Post-patch netcode is fucking ass. Variable input lag is definetely there.
The best part? Sounds are still wonky.
aww man, scrub community really won? Casual market is really fucking up the games now. Its bad enough games are made simpler with comeback mechanics in them. Now we have to deal with scrubby BS like sound is more important than the quality of the net code?
its honestly sad that this era exists. We have people who prefer sound over quality connections. Hell has frozen over. You’d think something as simple as sound, which may be 3% of this type of game, could be overlooked in favor of a better net code.
I’d certainly take better net code over sound and the fucked up part is. Why can’t we choose whether or not we want input delay or roll back?
i mean ponder did it for free, mike z did being on a budget probably 1\100th of what sfxt had and they still can’t get the shit right online. how can they fuck it up so many times and people on their first attempts get it right? it literally makes no sense.
uhh this sucks i have not gotten this test but it not sounding good. as someone who plays mostly online anything closer to offline is better. who gives a flying fuck about the sound.
Sound is definitely important… you need it to react to things like which version of lariat Gief just did.
That said, I would take less sound over input lag. I’m just really surprised we can’t have both… or at least, the old SFxT input lag with better (but not perfect) sound.
I’m really not convinced that the game has to rollback SO often under the old system that it drops 3 out of every 5 sound effects. Really feels like there’s some implementation flaw somewhere.
I’ve been playing like 10+ matches post-patch and I don’t feel any difference. Sound does sound messed up on crappy connections but otherwise it’s just fine IMO.
… i dont know what to say about this… its so disappointing, luckily i gave up on this shitty game a week and a half ago, but the ONLY thing i liked about it was the netcode… now? it doesnt even have netcode going for it… this shit is probably worse tan cfj… im not even kidding.
well, SG seems to do everything right, i think ill crawl under a rock and play nothing but that game, and forget capcom ever existed. even though i stopped playing sfxt i had high hopes for the game via patches or a different game using that netcode. but now? it wont happen.
fuck capcom and FUCK ALL THESE FAGGOTS THAT WHINED ABOUT SOUND WHO COULDNT EVEN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OFFLINE TIMING AND ONLINE INPUT DELAY…
people that have internal timing that is that shitty shouldnt be making decisions for anyone.
seriously this pisses me off so much… its like ford brings out the mustang, it goes 150 mph, then all the shitty ass unskilled drivers want ford to discontinue it and bring out the model A cause its 30 mph is slower and “safer”
yeah, lets just go backwards for the mouthbreathers that got used to an old outdated system…
shit is pathetic. im mad.

How about not jumping to conclusions? lol some people
Just played my first 3 matches with the new netcode, 2-bars (what I usually get), I have horrible internet, and I’m particularly sensitive to lag.
If someone didn’t tell me there was a difference, I don’t think I would notice one. Maaaaaybe I noticed a small difference hitting jabs from full screen, but even then I’m not really sure. It might have been placebo, seeing as how I basically never stood full screen hitting jabs in the old netcode. I didn’t miss a combo, didn’t miss a reaction block, and basically didn’t feel a difference. I didn’t hear any double sound effects, and there are definitely way more sounds played now.
Maybe my experience is uncommon, or maybe I’ll feel differently after 50 games. But right now I don’t get what the fuss is about, it feels like old SFxT to me.
EDIT - 15 or so more games, my opinion remains. Had a few matches that looked like they were going to be atrocious, but they smoothed out 15-20 seconds into round 1. I played someone with NYC in his gamertag, so I can assume that’s cross-continent from me and it was as good as old SFxT. I played Wolfkrone in a ranked match (he’s in Detroit right? so that’s far from me) and it wasn’t any worse than when I played Wolfkrone three weeks ago. I had maybe one or two points where I noticed double sound effects in 20 games, but only because I was listening specifically for them. Basically all the sound effects play now.
So… yeah, my initial impressions are that this update is a big improvement. I don’t think the guys above me are lying when they say it’s laggier, but it certainly feels the same to me.
Ive yet to try the patch, but I had at least 4-5 occasions where at the start of the match I had a good 400-600ms lag.
For instance I start with Rolento and I like to spam 2-3 rolls back. The timing was so jacked I stood there a bit, then started rolling and coming in with the follow up hit even though thats not what I wanted. Also hit cr. mk and it came out a good 400ms later.
Typically I get assaulted for 10 seconds and then it clears up.
