Netcode

Try doing a 2 person lobby and seeing if everyone still comes up at 1 or 2 bars, if you get more 3-4 bar connections in a 2 man lobby that is a sure way to see if it’s your upload speeds limiting you.

But really, if the majority are 2 bars then it most likely means distance is the issue. Which I honestly would not be surprised. From Fla to NY the average is about 55-70ish ping depending on time of day, and cali to hawaii is what… 2-3 times that distance?

Any time you are over 100 ping it’s bad news for gaming (just like FPS really).

yes for sure, reason i been nabbing up as many 808 state friend request as i can and have a bunch from other fighting games from the past to make state lobbies for this game, But usually to cali its not that bad, dont know if thatsw where the huge under water lines connect , but im pretty sure… in sf4 a get all green bar matchs in cali and Oregon …funny thing is i get full bar matchs to mexico like crazy in marvhel…im guessing baja…yellow in sf4 to japan and china atleast i think its hong kong

My pings 60-75 from here to los angles and san jose according to speedtest…and most of the west coast

Speed tests usually are under the best network conditions and rarely with routing problems, that’s why it would be best to do a test directly to a player if you know any in cali somewhat personally. Even if you have a great connection, and the other player had a great connection, there could be a problem in the routing between you 2 causing issues.

To test this, all you would have to do is ask for their IP and then open up a command prompt in windows and type “tracert <their ip>” without the braces.

Simple. Look at other games with online and their netcode and take some tips from those games and add those to fighters. Rollback netcode is awful for fighters and it always will be.

Yes, it’s much better when I try to anti-air and it doesn’t come out and I eat a jump-in combo.

There’s a reason GGPO was such a hit amongst OG fighters.

I´m from germany playing with my buddy who lives like 10km from me is in SF X Tekken better then in SF IV. It´s not on GGPO level but defineatly the best experience yet and SF IV was also ok for us but u could feel input delay. In SF X Tekken i have none.

Can requesting input delay be added to the official definition of a scrub?

Then why doesn’t anyone who HAS the actual code apply it to recent fighters other than Skullgirls? Answer yourself this before saying GGPO is the end all. Its FAR from the end all.

I don’t think the online’s bad on here, and hell, I’m playing on a cramped university connection. There’s some audio desynch and maybe some missing sound cues, but whatever, I can see hits, and thus far haven’t had any major input delay. Having way more success in longer combos in this game than I do with SSFIV and BB.

Rollback netcode is definitely better if it was done properly. What I see right now is not unfixable (despite what Capcom says)

  • Sound bug can definitely be fixed/reduced just look at the other games with rollback netcode. It’s just whether or not Capcom wants to spend its resources to do so.
  • Capcom should have added the option to set your input delay in the settings. This way people who prefers better graphics/animation over gameplay a choice to raise the static input delay up to increases smoothless.
  • Capcom should automatically adjust the input delay based on the connection quality. If you want to play with someone who has a bad connection (maybe it’s a friend across the country), set a higher input delay so you don’t have characters teleporting around and have the game be unplayable.

i got the game installed, wired up less than 5 feet away, on comcast high speed and i get no sound…YES I WANT SOUND what kind of game has no sound and everyones fine with it lol

I’m thinking of switching from the 360 version to ps3 since 360 seems to be getting shafted on a few things. Is the online PSN about the same as xbox live? I remember on SF4 a lot of people said xbox live was better.

Completely agree.

In what other community besides the FGC can a big title like SFxT get away without having sound? How can any of you really be serious about not demanding that they fix this? I dont even know how this passed Xbox and Sony’s quality assurance tests.

Why would I care more about sound than responsiveness when playing a fighting game?

Because having fucked up sound is distracting. Having no sound at all isn’t, but when you are getting bits and pieces in a match it can be sort of jarring. That’s why. Imagine if you were playing and all of a sudden somebody in the room starts making really loud fart noises randomly for random amounts of time. It would be annoying.

Anybody arguing against the sound issue, saying it’s not that big of a deal, keep in mind that this isn’t some indie game. This is Capcom. This is a AAA title. Also, BlazBlue has the best netcode I have ever seen and uh… yeah the sound never cut out.

i agree with this. i’m finding it hard to take any of the tekken characters online. imo when you first start learning a new characters combos, sound really helps your timing. i don’t have the same problem with the sf characters because i’ve been playing them pretty much every day for the past 3 years.

another problem with the sound glitch is that sometimes you lose sound right in the middle of a link/magic series that you think you’re going to connect, you don’t, and you eat huge damage. at this point, add a random gem activation into the mix, plus the fact you’re playing round 3 on the pandora’s box stage, and it gets doubly frustrating.

I understand that part of it…and I also understand how to use a remote control to turn the sound off on my TV or sound system. :wgrin:

You don’t seem to understand. We should’t have to turn the sound off to play a (probably) multi-million dollar title from one of the biggest names in gaming.

been playing a few hours today on PSN. The wait in between ranked matches is not fun. And the sound is FUBAR when fighting online
