Netcode

It’s not a glitch. It’s to reduce lag, I think. They also give up on visual effects sometimes. For example EX moves not glowing yellow.
If it does give you a more functional match, then what’s the problem?

I believe that’s the “dramatic” effect of making the music sound like it’s coming from a tin can when you’re down into pandora range. Why this exists, dunno; Is it stupid and makes it sound like the sound glitchiness is even worse than it already is? Yes.

Because I’m a greedy bastard that wants sound that works and decent netplay at the same time. Also I haven’t had the visuals go out on me except for the camera occasionally not going all “woooosh” when they do a launcher.

Turn it off. You have the option on the menu.

Not sure who one would ask locally for a simple, direct question like this. Even if I could look up the letters of the law, consumer laws are convoluted and difficult to interpret clearly for the uninitiated.

I mean, I could ask the store; but they don’t tend to be fully honest or up-front about return technicalities that could work against them.

So Ono tweeted that they know about the sound issue, and it’s caused by network delay between you and your opponent (as expected).

So my question is… even for the people who have reported near lagless play, isn’t the sound STILL routinely breaking for them??

For me, the sound still breaks even on good connections. I played through rounds where the SFX were completely muted. I stopped being bothered by it now. The frame drops and slowdown I feel are more bothersome.

The audio problem was in every online match I played. All. Even the ones where there was no lag (full bars connection)

Yo it has the bp bs from ssf4

Oh, that’s deliberate? Wow. At least I know that I can change that now.

So, yeah… if the audio is breaking in every match, regardless of how smooth it is, then there are still some serious problems to work out, Capcom. Don’t wash your hands of this situation.

i literally have no sound fx the entire match, how that saves on lag i have no idea, it’s a glitch.

Same here man… screwing everything up.

Pretty disappointed. I wish I could revel in the lagless input nirvana some of you reside in, but when special animations disappear for the majority of active frames, majority of sounds are gone, the bgms sounds like 7.1 sega genesis gargled garbage, and I can barely tell who’s doing what and when, linking my combos is pretty fucking moot. I may be able to input the reaction to a jump in, but who the fuck knows where they are when I do. My perfect inputs mean shit when they frame skip all over the place.

On a personal note of taste, I do prefer SFIV’s netcode, even with input lag. As a musician, I combo and link based on the rhythm and kinds of sounds produced. I know when to link the next normal as the grunt or squeal subsides. When those sounds aren’t there, even with better input code, I just can’t deal. Maybe I’ll learn with time or Capcom will patch it, but currently it makes online play a complete waste of time. You can say “can’t hear shit at tournies, heh huh heh”, I don’t care. I’m not playing SFxT at EVO right now, I’m sitting on my couch, in my house, with loud ass speakers. It’s where I play the game the majority of its time (just like the majority of players do). I don’t plan to go out and be Justin Wong, I just want to play some damn matches without my game looking/sounding like a clusterfuck of shit >__<.

~My opinion, yours may be more elite or somethin~

I’m confused as to why these fighters still aren’t implementing numerical ping as opposed to the stupidly vague and often misleading 3 bar measure.

yea i don’t understand this as well and sadly it spread to some pc games. overall tho my experience has been positive with this netplay even with the sound cutting out and a few hiccups here and there. hopefully the patch will come soon because when you fight someone with a good connection the game feels great.

Input Lag > Rollbacks.

I don’t know why you people keep supporting a format that erases 50% of the moves you attempt. Rollbacks make uppercuts and lariats godlike, which shouldn’t be the case.

PSN and XBL’s kits don’t provide those features by default.

Input lag is NEVER EVER good. If you are getting frame skips constantly, then you need to try on the best connection you can find. If everybody rolls back on the best connection they can, then the netcode is ass. If you have constant skips or half a second input delay then it doesn’t matter; they are both unplayable.

In the case of GGPO at least: It only makes good connections better, not shitty connections good.

Does the ps3 version not have the audio glitch. I just watched gootecks and mike ross play on ps3 and they didnt seem to be getting the glitches?
