Netcode Tier

Hi every1, recently I was comparing the netcodes of the different fighting games I played. I am a online player, because where I live I have no other options, so here is my list(from best to worse):<br><b><br>Good ones:</b><br>Blazblue CT(well nobody play it right now)<br>Persona 4 Arena<br>Virtua Fighter 5 FS<br>SSF2T HD<br><br><b>mm well I can handle it:</b><br>Soulcalibur 5<br>SSF4 AE 2012<br><br><b>no thanks:</b><br>Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3<br>Mortal Kombat<br>KOF13<br><br>I am also interested in your opinion, specially where u place tekken tt2 and SFXTKN. Thanks for reading.<br>

Top tier:<br>GGPO<br><br>Bottom:<br>Everything else.<br><br>Thread done<br>

God tier: GGPO. Skullgirls.<div><br></div><div>Mid-tier: GGPO 3S. Arc games. 3D fighters.</div><div><br></div><div>Shit tier: Everything else. </div>

<div>Given you have a reliable, hard-wired, and stable connection</div><div>[These are based upon games that I’ve played. If I am missing a title it’s because I can’t give an opinion on something I haven’t tried]</div><div><br></div>S+ BB:CT, PC GGPO<div><div>S   TT2</div><div>A   3s, Mvc2</div><div>B   SFxT, VF5:FS</div><div>C   SF4 (and variants)</div><div>D   UMvC3</div><div>F   KOF13</div><div><br></div></div>

PSAS also has an amazing netcode, I think it uses rollback. I was actually able to get a few good matches with my friends terrible internet connection.<br>

Why the fuck isn’t everyone using this tier: GGPO<div>Playable tier: Arcsys, Pre Patch SFXT, AE, SC5, TTT2</div><div>Stop lying to yourself about it being playable: Everything else</div><div><br></div>

SS+: GGPO<div>S: Skullgirls, MvC: Origins,</div><div>A: HDR, MvC2,</div><div>B: SFxT pre-patch</div><div>C: Arcsys, TTT2, SC5, VF5:FS</div><div>D: SFIV</div><div>E: UMvC3<br></div><div>F: KoF, MK</div>

<div>This list is just stuff I’ve played online.</div><div><br></div><div>S Tier - Darkstalkers Resurrection, MvC Origins, 3s Online after patch, Skullgirls, hopefully Divekick</div><div>A Tier - HD Remix, VOOT</div><div>B Tier - BlazBlue, SFxT, 3s Online pre patch</div><div><span style=“line-height: 1.7em;”>D Tier - Street Fighter 4 series, Mortal Kombat 9</span><br></div><div>FFF Tier - Marvel vs Capcom 3 series seriously what the fuck how does anyone play this online?</div><div> </div>

All I can say is I really hate Mortal Kombat and Tekken 5:DR’s online play. KoF XII and XIII could be a lot better but I won’t say it’s been IMPOSSIBLE to enjoy those games.<br><br>Everything else has been kind of a mixed bag.<br>

Blazblue CT is by far the best, considering it has also cross platform play support (PC vs Xbox). sometimes you cant join lobbies though.<br><br>Second best: Guilty Gear PC online version<br><br>too bad that very few matches occur there<br><br>GGPO on PC doesnt work all the times. 1/3 of the opponents you play may show a black screen, even with good ping. <br>stability also matters. I’d put GGPO around mid-tier only because of stability. <br>

I had no idea CT was on PC AND it’s cross platform? I wish more fighting games were cross platform, that’d help expand the PC version’s competition.<br><br>Also it’s not even close to being the best lol<br>

3S OE/GGPO is pretty bad.  GGPO for everything else is good though.

GGPO for me is bottom tier BECAUSE IT JUST STOPS WORKING RANDOMLY EVERY FEW MONTHS AND NOONE KNOWS WHY >:(<br>http://ggpo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5442<br>

GGPO isn’t really netcode in and of itself, it’s netcode augmentation. It makes an existing netcode better by adding rollback frames. The synchronization code is separate I assume (at least based on the developer’s description of the technology his website). I think a developer is still in charge of actually synchronizing the players.<br>

Don’t hate on ggpo cause you cant use it.<div><br></div><div>Top: Non CPS3 GGPO (pc)</div><div><br></div><div>mid/low: doesn’t matter</div>

S: Superarcade - Games actually load and are stable, pretty smooth sailing. Great selection of games. Saves replays and you can view replays from other players.<br>A: P2PKaillera - Same as above in regards to loading and being stable, although to slightly less effect. Still it works pretty well for just about everything.<br>B: GGPO - Games commonly have issues with loading (“Cross Challenging” fixes this 80% of the time, but leaves you vulnerable to being Challenge spammed, so you gotta AFK once the game loads), spectators cause lag, games tend to desync (Particularly KOF2k/2k2), and they took away Karnov’s Revenge so 3S could return, which is stupid. They never add new games, like Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, which I’ve been longing for on GGPO for years, as a result I have to use the swap trick on the Samurai Shodown II Room (Another Fantastic Game) to play RB2 with my buddies. When it does work properly for players on both ends, it works pretty good. Unless it’s CPS3.<br>C: Kaillera - Ummm… <br>

Well, I played almost every game on those tiers, but I didn’t know Blazblue had such good Netcode. I think I read somewhere that Guilty Gear’s online was horrible?<br><br>Also, everybody watch out for the Neo Geo Station games! (SNK games on PSN) <br>I bought KOF '94 and the Online is the worst thing ever! That and Chaos Breaker/Dark Awake. <br>

I have KOF95 on Neo Geo Station and it worked pretty good, played a guy from Brazil, and it was fine. I heard 96 is even better supposedly.<br>

Mamehub is good for other games, not fighters. I played the Simpsons in co-op with 3 people. Very funny moments.

Supercade has more features than ggpo, it is just that connections are very laggy even with good ping. Because we have a couple of computers at home and matches were laggy, i thought someone used a torrent. But all computers were off. While ggpo even with torrents on can have better connection than supercade.

I know how to use it, or else i wouldnt have mentioned it at all!
