Netcode Hitting 360 Soon!

SF3 would look great in HD, if they used the same method of just rigidly overlaying sprites onto existing animation. That way it’d still have the same awesome animation, but would be in slick HD.

They need to fix this or SNK is done in North America, Flat Out.

SNK already is done in North America. The SNK branch of America literally consists of one person. And that’s the guy who owns the licenses.

Does anyone know why developers are so reluctant to use GGPO? Is it a money thing? Laziness?

Whatever it is, it’s frustrating as hell.

Maybe they don’t want to support a program that allows people to illegally play their property over the internet. Those KoF collections that were released probably would’ve sold a lot more if there wasn’t already an option to play them for free online.

GGPO is great, but it’s still tied to emulation which I think most companies with ties to the arcade scene want to stay away from.

well for what we know at least, bb used the help of ponder as consultant for the netcode, that is something

You’ve imported the game right? Has the online at least been playable with other Australians? Someone from NZ on my friends list had it and he said he had more trouble with KOFXII than he did with 98, which is really saying something :wasted:

Who said emulation was illegal?

You just have to own the game if you keep it for over 24 hours! :coffee:

Yeah but it won’t be here until next week probably. There’s a couple of people in Aus with copies already so I’ll check it out when it gets here.

Sounds good, hopefully we can get a few matches in come August 28th when I get my copy. Hopefully theres another patch by that time.

Legally, that isn’t actually the case. Unless you’re signed off on by the publisher, having ROMs is illegal.

But putting good netcode in their home releases would make people feel less inclined to emulate! I’m sure your post is correct–it’s just frustrating that some companies don’t seem to realize this. I see it as a “if you can’t beat 'em, join 'em” scenario, and SNKP obviously can’t come CLOSE to beating GGPO.

Especially with their special brand of “only good for Japan” netcode D:

Attention King of Fighters XII fans, we just wanted to let you know that we?ve been testing an upcoming software update with SNK PLAYMORE and the online play results have been very good! Quality Assurance is ongoing, and will update the fans on its release soon. Thanks!

seriously hope that makes the 360 online a bit more lively. Everytime I hop on there’s hardly anyone on.

Is this the announcement?

Not the ‘official’ one, I don’t think. They are just updating on progress. If it’s actually going to be good they can take as much time as they need.

Alright, good news.

I’ve yet to play any hardcore games online yet. Some people are moving up in the ranks, I would hope they’d reset the leaderboards and ranks after the next patch to give everyone a fair shake.

I have no idea how long it’s going to take to get SSS rank.

Personally, im still not exactly excited. Its good that the online is better but working in a closed network isn’t the same as working through the actual internet, unless they’re testing across US, in which that would be useful.
