Net code discussion. Rollback confirmed!

I thought they used 3D models and drew sprites over that shit similar to Xrd. Sorry for the misinformation.

That’s still not how xrd works funny enough. They are full 3D models.

Basically, Capcom inserted a ton of input lag in its game, probably in order to hide the online lag better. Thats why we have poor footsies in this game: due the lack of ability from capcom to program the netcode better.

The video makes things confusion at times but its easy to nitpick the information we want, and its also easy to understand why we cant do what he suggests and to force the Vsync off: we will have to deal with it in the tournaments (PS4) and we need to train with the same configuration we are going to compete.

Now Im curious about the windowed mode of the game in PC. If it turns the V-sync off or not if your desktop’s v-sync is set to off.

Its funny because if we do the math, the netcode of this game isnt much better than SF4’s, they just worsened the offline mode to hide it.

Lag…the ultimate leveler of the playing field. I am fairly certain nearly every PC player has some way of inducing lag to tilt things in their favor.

they shouldnt have introduced crossplatform in first place. pc gaming is open to all kinds of shit and cheating.

lol u guys are worried about people getting unfair advantage in rankeds… U guys should be worried about not being able to train properly online in order to do well at offline tournaments.

Yeah because everybody goes to offline tournaments.

Everyone that plays this game online must love immense lag and an atrocious netcode. So atrocious it’s spilled over into the offline portion of the game.

Basically, it’s like if GGPO didn’t have the option to select the input delay and instead was fixed at 3 or 4 frames.

I’ve been saying since it came out that they need to add the option to choose the input delay. It’s not necessarily a problem with the netcode, it’s them not including a feature that should be there. It baffles me that they wouldn’t copy GGPO’s model down to a tee, since it is the best we have for fighting games and people seem to be very happy with it.

The v-sync option should be there too, but that’s a different issue.

HOW SWAY? When you ever see someone cheat in a pc fighting game outside of leaderboard hacks and toolassisted(who’s also on console)?

It’s 2K16 get with the times.

Not always true. You are not wrong though.

As a PC player, I’ve been receiving many “one-sided” problems when playing with most of the friends that are on PS4.

With the way online can be RNG… the best bet of playing efficiently without going insane might be playing battle lounge… especially if you are able to communicate with the player.

Something people forget about skullgirls and maybe even ki ( though I know nothing of KI) is that ggpo/rollback works best with games that don’t have super fast moves. As an example, the fastest jab in SG is 5 frames and that is VERY fast for SG. Most cr.lk are around 7-8 frames as another example. Specials are also slow as are most other poking moves…

Why is this important? Because when you have moves with lots of startup frames it’s easier to hide the rollbacks in the startup frames. It’s hard to hide rollback in 3 frame jabs… But in 15 frame startup moves it’s much easier. And since so much of SG is played with moves that have 10 or more startup frames the game is naturally easier to hide rollbacks in.

and this thing is why there is introduced lag in capcoms netcode IMO. If they add 3 frames of delay then the average fastest move is 6 frames instead of 3.

Anywho the input lag doesn’t bother me in most forms since it usually is very crisp and doesn’t vary much. The VARIABLE input lag of sf4 killed the game for me because it was literally unplayable jumping from 3 frames of input lag one second to 7 frames the next, to 4 frames after that etc etc. I like this netcode better than variable delay at the very least. I can learn matchups in this netcode, in sf4 I couldn’t.

Its a lot more than 3 frames added, its 9 frames. Thats actually quite substantial and can make it hard to do simple things like anti air and block fullscreen moves.

I Don’t take that number realistically. I know what 9 frames of lag feels like, and I certainly don’t have that. And I’m on PC.

You can adjust for 9 frames of delay in xrd and at 9 frames of delay the difference is huge compared to regular… It’s like press a button wait a million years, then button comes out.

That isn’t how sf5 is for me and I would imagine most people. At around 5 frames of input lag on xrd is where the game becomes unplayable for me. So if sf5 has 9 frames that would be beyond unplayable for me.

So I can only assume wack computers or faulty testing procedures.

-edit

Just turned off v sync in invidias control panel and there is no perceptible difference in timing.

Maybe I just have a good comp and everyone else has potatoes. I’m on nvidia GTX 970 I5 processor DDR 4 ram 8 gb can’t remember the hertz but whatever.

That’s true, I misread the data. It’s quite a bit. Better when v-sync is off, but still like 6 frames. Plus playing with v-sync off appears to be a bad thing, since you don’t get the same delay offline that you get online. And having v-sync on isn’t even an option for some people, since it lowers the frame rate in some stages and breaks the game until it’s restarted.

please tell me, is it easier to cheat on console or on pc?

99,9% (I bet there are more 9s in the right side of the comma) of the console users can’t or won’t alter with their systems. It’s not easy for everyone to meddle with the firmware or change game files. Somepeople cant do it, some won’t bother.

On pc however even a 8 years old can use a cheating software just to piss you off and laugh at your nerd rage. macros, aimbots, map hacks etc. its even easier to rage quit ffs.

That is, quite possibly, in the top 5 stupid statements I have ever heard from SRK.
Seriously, that is an accomplishment.
Someone even said to you about ToolAssisted being on console and your response is “Yeah, but is it easier to cheat on console or on pc?”. Are you serious or just having fun trolling?
You saying “Somepeople cant do it, some won’t bother.” I can only assume is implying that all PC players are willing and able to cheat for those online points. Is that also implying that PS4 players wouldn’t/don’t do that?

Without trying to sound like a condescending old man - How long have you been playing online on consoles for? I have been running into autoaimers, lag switchers and invulnerable people for more than 10 years and my reaction isn’t to be like “Fuck Consoles. Only retards who can’t play games seriously would use them.”

Last point - Are you being serious with the “its even easier to rage quit ffs.”? First of all you should just laugh at rage quitters. That’s something that has been happening for a long time and regardless of whatever Capcom do, it’s still going to happen. Secondly - Are you trying to imply that pressing the power button is difficult? On a PC you’ve got to move your arcade stick out of the way, get to your keyboard then press ALT+F4.
PS4 = Push the button on the front/Pull the cable from the back/Press the PS button and quit the game. That last one you don’t even have to move, you can do it even if from the other side of the room.

No way I’m parrying Mika dropkicks on reaction with fucking 9 frames of delay and hit confirm counterhits in real games and single standing medium punches in training room.
That number has to be bullshit and I’m playing on pc with a DS3.

Most of the time console cheater don’t even need to alter anything hardware or software wise on their systems. All they need is the save file and then they modify them via special programs. That’s how people create OP equipment in Borderlands or Diablo 3, though that’s mostly the case with PlayStation consoles. I don’t know if it’s a thing on Xbox 360/Xbox One
