The country they are from is deceiving too because I was appearing to be in Japan and the UK when I was playing on those accounts from the US during their betas. So even those flags don’t really tell you much.
I wonder if they’ll show ping and allow us to set input delay based on that.
It would be best if we could see the ping instead of having colored bars to show the connection.
Are Capcom literally building an entirely new netcode from the ground up? With all these problems it feels like they are. I thought normally when someone’s got a proprietary netcode it’s just an adaptation or modification of an existing one.
Matchmaking isn’t the same as netcode.
So what’s the consensus with the 2nd beta?
I think it’s kind of important to say this and kinda’ has to be done; dudes should list what game(s) they have experience with when giving an opinion. I say this because SF4 players think any kind of rollback netcode is horrible.
For me this still isn’t as good as skullgirls online or ST on ggpo\fightcade.
It’s getting closer though. Would be easier to judge if we could actually see ping numbers.
Damn, still no ping numbers? WTF Capcom?
Better than SFIV for sure. Even in laggy rollback connections you can still do stuff, it just looks funny.
A good connection feels pretty solid. Can move back and forth and anti air pretty reliably. The easier links make it easier to not drop stuff online as well. Probably still a bit more delay than what you can set on GGPO, but definitely a step up from old netcode.
That sounds iffy. We should get the option.
Honestly I’ll put SFV netcode on the same level as SFxT pre-patch.
Yeah it kinda sucks compared to GGPO.
They’re not showing connection quality most likely because they don’t want people dodging matches with bad connections. This way means that they can gather data on matches with bad connections.
So far this netcode is amazing for me. I can usually feel a little lag at some point in a match in usf4 and every 4th or 5th match is like swimming. Haven’t really noticed anything so far in sf5. Feels like night and day.
Although I will say there is no way to te whether or not I would be dropping bnb’s because in sf5 they wouldn’t be 1 frame links and i don’t know my bnb yet, so there is that.
Netcode is definitely better than SFxT was at launch. Way more dropped inputs in SFxT and the sound was completely fucked. Lag wise though it’s probably on par if not a little better.
It’s not quite KI good, but good connections are close.
I thought the netcode is pretty good. Most of my matches have been good to minor lag issues (my internet isn’t great). But then I get this terrible connection and now I don’t know what to think.
Had matchs against people all over europe (From portugal to Russia) only had a couple of bad experiences.
Having played maybe 3-4 hours now. My ranking system would be:
0= SNKP netcode.
10= Offline.
I’d give SF5 right now maybe a 7.5 or 8. It’s really good. It’s just a little teleport-y but there’s no indication of if I’m fighting dudes on wireless/dial up or dudes outside North America.
I can’t get better than a 6 or 7 out of 10. This ain’t SG netcode. Far from it.
I’d rate it around the same at the moment, the good matches are great and the bad who knows if they are on a toaster PC or wifi or just a really bad connection.
Wouldn’t mind seeing peoples pings or even frames of lag during a match like Xrd does to get an idea how much lag you’ll need to adjust to or anticipate lol.
