NeoGeo Battle Coliseum (NGBC) Thread

afaik mr big have frame advantage on dwn HK cancel his fireball, do this when enemy on the corner.
his spinning tonfa have great priority too.

After more tests I see that Cyber Woo really ain’t that bad imo, and I’m gonna try out Yuki for a bit to see what I can pull off…

I wish I never gave this game away… I’m about to buy it again, it’s only 20 bucks, bring it to college and start a crowd.

C class is “high”?

I’ve played some good Woos, he is a a tricky char to fight against.
I’ve been working on Yuki for a long time, he doesn’t have much going for him.

I assumed Akari was one of the worst chars in the game (I still use her though), I wanna argue that most of the chars in D and E are better than her, but I don’t know and haven’t seen her at full potential.

I might skip over Yuki but I’ll try, time to try out these Last Blade characters…

In Japan Kisarah is A Class, but here in America I say C or B at best possibly. Akari is C Class, B at best.

Yuki is the kid of character that he’s so bad you need good comp to make him anything kind of strong. If you don’t have that then there’s no way you’ll make him a threat.

I still have the videos of that one Yuki player that was doing great with him and other low tier characters.

Yuki is definitely a hard character to win with, I need casual matches B …

Holy Shit! people DO still play this, good shit Tyrant…

Damn, that Hanzo/Fuuma player has inspired me to work on that team again. I always knew Hanzo’s d+A was an underrated move.

Well, I’m comparing it to SF3 when CPS 3 emulation happened and interest in the game exploded.

If SNKP were smart, they’d set this up as an XBL or PSN release.

I’m one of the few people who are completely against this.
I’d much rather emulating them if this was the case, SNK games on XBLA don’t feel as smooth as ps2 or emulated (though emulation isn’t that smooth either)

Plus, on the emulation path, work can be done to have reliable netcode. No such thing for XBLA (PSN maybe)

Yeah that’s how I feel as well. It’s been somewhat proven that online isn’t SNK’s forte. Even if the botched online for their recent stuff (and SS2/FFS?) was due in part, though largely, because of the outsourcing, the only way for this game to spark up real competition would be to move forward with emulation and that should be the case for all fighters on similar arcade hardware. The last thing we want is for people to be inconvenienced and turned away by more ports than can’t be improved once they’re out the door.

Agreed. I’d much rather see a sequel than see a port. I don’t mind it being on disc or as a DLC. A sequel might actually be easier for them than to try to port it. And as Capcom has said about Tatsunoko vs. Capcom being on other consoles:

“It wouldn’t be a matter of just changing the texture maps or anything like that. It involves so much time to actually rework the title that it would be a completely new title. And if we’re going to spend that much time doing it, then we might as well just make a new title anyway.”

Which I assume applies to not just Capcom, but to other companies as well.

Okay after more training I think I might stick with Yuki, he takes a shit load of work to bring him up to speed but I guess I’m up for the challenge, now all I need is a second then I’m cool… got any suggestions?

Well…Yuuki is probably the worst character in the game, so any character as his teammate would be an improvement.

Seriously though, he would benefit from a partner that would effectively cover up his weaknesses…

…which is basically every part of his game.

Hey Shiki, Dark Geese I was just in training mode today with this and KOFXI today.

I picked up Mai and Shermie after messing around with the cast and I really like them. So now I’m playing King Lion/Akari (main team) and then Iori, Mizuchi, Genjuro, Nak, Kisarah, Neo Geo, Shermie and Mai.

Some things I like about Shermie; nice reversal, good throw game (of course), nice AA, she can do decent combos off jump-ins AND cr/low normals, like her follow-up grabs and her combos/set-ups into both of her DMs are pretty decent. Having a double half-circle super grab with invicibilty is a plus and this combos if you connect with dp+A/C which is great for going over fireballs (it also has a bigger throw range than it looks, she lands next them and it looks like it will whiff but it connects).

About Mai, she’s one of those characters that rely on most of her combos only working off the hitstun of her close/far C. So jump ins and looking for opurtunities is a must but you can connect HCF+K off a cr. lk or lp which isn’t too bad. You can also link two cr.lk, but to me this is useless. She has a pesudo air mix-up game kinda like hanzo or lee but far more linear and less combo options. Still it gives her a nice option of mobility. They removed her fan DM which throws out mulitple projectiles which to me kinda blows but otherwise she seems alright.

I play the game pretty infrequently, but I have a nice grasp of the characters I play so if anyone is curious about them feel free to ask I guess…

I’d probably give that to Nak.
