"Nem-Assists": The Nemesis Teambuilding/Assists Thread

Well, both of those teams seem fantastic. Team 1) Nem with really strong horizontal projectiles, and Hulk’s anti-air, which is a great assist for confirming. Then you have Hulk with projectiles (that act like drones for covering his gamma charge, that’s a huge thing) and occasionally Nemesis-based extension. And then Dark Arthur. Dang. And the DHCs in this team are absurdly powerful.

  1. RDK combo Trish, and Nem with a low otg. And perhaps Trish’s voltage, which is great. And Dark Wesker. The DHC bamage between low voltage and Nem rockets leaves a bit to be desired, but there is no reason I’d see for not setting up the unblockable instead, in that case. Smart people will maybe get hit by the scythe, so Nemesis’ damage scales heavily, but that still may be enough to kill, and you can always go into a reset. Good stuff.

Awesome team composition. I think both teams are equally fantastic, maybe with a slight bias towards the second one, because of how well Nemesis’ high-tier companions function solo, and if Wesker’s snapped in, the team is still godlike.

I was wondering if someone could give me some feedback on my team. I started running Nemesis (Rocket Shot) Sentine (Drones Charge) and Arthur (Daggers). My mindset with this team is to use daggers and drones to lock down my opponent and set up for tentacle grabs, or use drones to set up combos. DHC wise, after a combos ending with Hyper Rockets from Nem, DHC into Sentinel Drones Hyper, and if needed, delay the end of Drones hyper into Plasma Storm for the kill. I heard that Sentinal was not a good anchor, so I decided to pick one of the best anchors in the game, Arthur! Any feedback or tips would be much appreciated. I used to run Nem, Ryu, Sent, but I learned that after losing Nem, my Ryu had a hard time getting anything started.

All solid. No notes. That team is solid as is.

So I’m brand-spanking-new to UMVC, actually more like FG’s in general and I’m trying to figure out my team to practice with until I get the hang of the game. So far my team that I’m wanting to use is Virgil/Nemisis/Arthur or possibly switching Virgil and Nemisis. I’m just wondering how well this team will work together, such as
if I start with Nemisis should I use the OTG assist on Arthur to extend his combo’s or would I be better off with daggers to help my approaching with both Virgil and Nemisis. Since Virgil is quite the meter hog I was thinking I should start Nemisis to be able to build up until he eventually dies but I also assumed that Arthur would be needing quite a bit of meter for the way his hyper’s work and being the Anchor.

I prefer to use characters I like which is why I’ve got Nemesis and Arthur so far, so for my last character I’m not really looking for character advice, but more so what utility I am missing the most that I should look to fill with my 3rd character. I don’t mind dropping Virgil if it would benefit me to pick up someone else. I guess I’m thinking, if I want Nemesis on point, I either need an OTG assist on my 2nd character, or I can use the bottle on Arthur. Or am I better off sacrificing the OTG and going for an assist to help out Nemesis’ approaching on my 2nd character and taking Arthur’s dagger’s assist. Or if I put Virgil on point, will he suffice on his own for the meter and assists (launcher slam and either daggers or fire bottle) and allowing Nemesis to be the battery to recharge my meter after Virgil has died.

I really didn’t know which section to put this under but I figured with Nemesis being my favorite so far, I should work around him as best as I can.

If you really like Vergil, put him on point. Otherwise I would suggest wesker, as he helps nem extend combos, works pretty well with Arthur on back with daggers, and builds meter fairly well. Nemesis actually builds meter pretty ok too, the only problem is to kill a character you have to go for his resets if you want to save meter, which is risky for nem. Wesker however has pretty safe resets so you could use nem/wesk/art with whatever assist for nem/samurai edge/dagger toss. This is what I can give to u as advice and from one sort of newcomer to another, welcome to the FGC.

Go with Nemesis first. DHCing into Nemesis after a Vergil combo does extremely poor damage, but DHCing from Nemesis to Vergil Sword loops should do aton of damage. I’d recommend not using Arthur with an OTG as both characters do much better with Daggers

Welcome to UMVC3. It’s a ton of fun. And yeah, I like Nem second, but on that team, Nemesis in front is fantastic. Vergil can swords DHC for a combo after all the hypering is said and done, which few people can do. Nemesis will probably find good utility in rapid slash, too, a bit more than Vergil finds from Nem’s assists. Arthur’s bottle assist is only truly godlike once he goes into golden armor and switches out, otherwise his daggers assist is one of the best in the game, and if you play him anchor, go daggers. Nemesis likes the horizontal projectile to push him towards the opponent or to fight ranged spammers with his own ranged tools. And Vergil likes the daggers, same as anyone who can teleport behind a guy, Vergil likes them to randomly cross up about 5 million times. In addition, Vergil is fun because once you mix his own methods of crossing up with his assist crossups, opening people up becomes a breeze.

The only other order I’d try out is Nemesis/Arthur/Vergil. Vergil will suddenly get meter and XF3 as an anchor, which he is more than good as, and Nemesis still has a safe DHC in the form of arthur’s armor. Arthur can also push people fullscreen to be an annoyance with ranged attacks, using rapid slash, and Nemesis can extend his combos slightly. The first one is the more obvious choice, and probably the better one, but this order does have it’s own unique advantages. Just giving you as many choices as I can.

Thanks for the replies and welcomes  I’ll definitely give the team a try, just hope I can learn the execution of Virgil lol

Can’t seem to find the right third to pair with Nemesis and Sentinel yet. Still learning the game but doing okay so far, something like 70-50 on live so far (gaining losses the more I play 7th lord types etc.) Nem is my favorite and I like Sent as well mainly because they are somewhat straightforward yet do good damage with simple combos (hell even in SF4 I main T.Hawk), and are nicely balanced in that they are capable of both rush and keepaway, and are both just cool (IMO). I’ve been running…

Nemesis/Sentinel(Punch)/Arthur(Daggers)
…on the fence about sent punch vs. drones assist, mostly I would just spam daggers and keep the middle character undamaged so punch seems maybe okay
but anyway as cool as Arthur is as an uber-slow midget old school knight amidst all these beasts, his actual playstyle is just so lame as dedicated keepaway, as well as straight gimmicky either run a train on someone with XF3 gold crossbow or happy birthday dragon, or they just teleport on your head and run the train on you instead

Nemesis/Captain(SS)/Sentinel(Drones)
…seems like a better all purpose “pick one lineup and stick with it” team, Cap can be boring though, hard to get in and land hits, revert to fishing with shield spamming

Would be nice to mix in an actual top tier character but they seem pretty scary execution ceiling wise…

Dante: Sort of a douchebag, not very interesting, not easy
Dormammu: Actually maybe a great fit but pretty defense heavy and douchey
Magneto: Cool dude but I’ll never be able to do those loops / etc.
Zero: Too pro for me
Viper: Way too pro, one-note
Vergil: Douchebag
Wesker: Sort of a douchebag, could be a good fit
Doom: Could be a good fit, but my combos wouldn’t do him justice
Strider: Read that hes good with Nem but isn’t he supposed to be hardish?
Skrull: Underwhelming assists, would be gimmicky at my level, not sure he fits in well anywhere
Taskmaster: Balanced, solid, maybe a little boring…

Realistically I’m thinking my best options are…
Nem/Cap(SS)/Sent(Drones) - just ride it out and get better(?)
Nem/Wesker(OTG)/Sent(Drones), or swap order and get Sent damaged all the time as a middle heavy assist call - Wesker kind of seems like selling out but maybe…
Nem/Sent(Drones or OTG)/Doom(Beam) - is Doom still okay without real combos?
Nem/Task(Horizontal)/Sent(Drones) or swap order - might as well just keep Cap over this it seems
wildcard: try Strider again

Wesker or Doom that crucial or roll with Cap and call it a day, hmmm…

nem/sent/doom use missiles instead of beam.

good beginner team is nem/hulk/sent

My vote is Nem/Task/Sent, but I’m biased, because that’s 2/3rds my characters. Try out Task’s up arrows for some more vertical coverage. Also, perhaps Task anchor would work too. Experiment with orders on that one.

Doom combos are easy. It’s confirming hits and movement that needs work. Beam vs Missiles is Sophies choice really, but Missiles and drones more or less do the same thing, so I’d recommend Beam. Do not use OTG assist for Sentinel. Not only is drones so amazing, but nearly every character you mentioned doesn’t need one.

Personally, I like strider, but there tends to be a lot of times where I have sent strider and I burn pretty much all my meter on sent, so maybe not. However, if you can grasp striders mix-up game well, then I do suggest him since it’s pretty damn good on the back since you can mix-up pretty much all of the cast for little danger if you avoid H.teleport, and those that you can’t mix-up (hulk and haggar come to mind first) they are usually easy to zone out with strider or you can bait unsafe moves and punish. Anchor strider is easy to utilize and is a good recommendation if you want to really understand mix-ups since one wrong move and strider normally dies. Anyways, doom, doom is always good. I prefer missiles, but that’s just my preference. However, doom combos, like Gilgamesh said, are pretty easy to execute, it’s just getting a hit that can be hard. One good thing to note is if you do become “FOOT DIVE” dependent for hit confirms, make sure you practice not to. It works now and then but like striders H.teleport, it’s not really safe. You know, or you can do team big dudes and just slap on hulk as was stated above. Last thing I’d like to note is skrull has pretty bad assists for nemesis, tenderizer and fatal buster or whatever could works as gimmicky “get off me bro” assists, but nem doesn’t need that. Skrull on this team would pretty much be xfc lvl3 anchor. Hmm, this was long… Uh, just pick up wesker I guess? Global saturation lol.

After messing around in the lab a little, I think Nemmy/Wesky/Sentinel works pretty well. :o

I had a feeling that would work since drones and samurai edge go with any character a little better, be it combo potential or lockdown/rushdown. Besides, having sent and wesker confuses some and sometimes they don’t know who to snap in since dark wesker is scary and drones are annoying.

Team classic Unknown is back!!!

Oh man, I honestly considered dropping my main team for that team because of training mode… but I’m ass with Sentinel.

Nemesis(y)/Wesker(b)/Sentinel(a)

With Nemesis, you have the normal options of Nemesis neutral game, but Drones makes Tentacle Slam ridiculously easy. Once cornered, Samurai Edge unblockables are pretty easy too. The bnb’s for each character I developed are as such:
[****] denotes an assist

Nemesis: st.H, Clocket L, dash forward, j.MMH, j.MMH, st.H, S + [Drones], sj.HS, land, jump, j.S, Samurai Edge, Rocket Launcher, Biohazard Rush
Tentacle Slam, S, j.MMHS, Angled DR, st.H, Clocket L, S, j.MHS, land, [Samurai Edge], Tentacle Slam M

Wesker: Drones, Teleport mix-up/confirm, cr.MH, Cobra Strike, Phantom Move L follow-up, [Rocket Launcher], Samurai Edge, dash forward, S, sj.MMHS, Teleport into corner, Gunshot into THC
Confirm off everything and do lots of damage because you are Wesker

Sentinel: S, sj.MMHS, [Samurai Edge], Flight, air S, S, sj.MHS, [Rocket Launcher], specifically timed Rocket Punch L, Hyper Sentinel Force, Plasma Storm

This team is pretty fun.

Running Nemesis/Vergil/Doom for the last few months.

Missiles or Beam? I’ve been using Missiles and I have hit confirms with it, but I dunno.

For Nemesis, I think Missiles is the best… you get to be reckless as all heck with it (which I really hate), and it can extend your combos a little bit. Also, I’d totally put Doom second. Rockets into Sphere Flame… looks cool.

To add to that, Vergil anchor…yeah
