Need some help with stick art

Hey guys. I’ve got this image here that with a little manipulation will be be perfect for art on my new stick. Only problem is that there’s some text on there I don’t want and whilst basic shopping I can do, text removal in a fairly complex area is beyond me.

Here’s the pic, you can see the Japanese text and ‘TUKIHIME’ that I’d like removed:

For those who are interested, or who want to see what I’m planning in order to decide how they’ll tackle the text, here’s where I’m at for actually using it on the stick (in lower-res than I’ll actually use): http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x97/KDBA/Miyako%20Stick%20Art/StickArtBeta01.jpg

Thanks to anyone who helps out.

too bad there is a filter on that pic

Yeah, I’ve started trying to reconstruct it since it’s mostly official art, just with some nice composition and effects. And text.

Just can’t find the background…

Isnt that her stage?

I believe so. Unfortunately I can’t actually find any of the stage backgrounds anywhere online.

The first thing I’d try to do is create a new layer over the offending text and work with a combination of cloning and some light painting to touch up. The tukihime seems to be in a pretty friendly spot for this method from this resolution (there isn’t a lot of complicated shit to clone out/blend). The opaque white texture that is laying over the entire picture is the only part that is gonna give you trouble there (if it isn’t on a seperate layer, but is a part of the image you’re using). The other text is gonna be a tad more difficult, because you’ll have more complicated shapes to paint in then the tukihime text, but it is doable.

You may have to create your own white bars, overlay and then create white noise on the area you painted and overlay that layer as well to try and blend with the overall picture.

Here is a quick touch up I did that took about 15 minutes. With enough putzing around, you can definitely get a better…less obvious…blend happening.

I can’t really think of a quicker, less work intensive technique for this issue right now (need sleep :wasted:). Hope this helps.

I’ll give it a try, cheers.

I may give it a shot later.

Here you go, got rid of the text using the clone stamp.

Haha! Gah dayum! Sweet.

Nice scissorman. Im gunna keep you in mind if I ever truly need something like that done. Text can be such a bitch sometimes.

What do we really need text for?

Scissorman, I just bought a month of premium for the sole purpose of adding rep to you.

Thanks man! Glad it could help!

[cough]Need 500 posts to give pos/neg rep.[/cough]

You do? Bother. It really ought to say that somewhere (FAQ doesn’t mention it at all).

Props to Scissorman anyways.

It’s all good. I pos rep him whenever it lets me [last comment I left was a half sentence. Computer flipped out on me].

Rather than make a whole new thread, I figure I’ll just post again in this one.

Requesting opinions on which of these three options works better (and/or general comments regarding any of them):

I like the 3rd one. Damn, you cleared off the filter over that anime girl yourself?

The only thing about the third one would prolly be the background [looks inversed]. The dark setting is nice though. Goes good with the images on the right.

Note: Prolly save everything in the 3rd one’s background except for the grass. That’s what really sticks out. Everything else looks good.

It looks inversed because it basically is. I used the Solarise filter in PS, which basically makes a negative version of the image and then blends it with the original. I’m not entirely sure what to do with the grass, to be honest.

Also I didn’t remove the filter, I just found the original image that the person who made the wallpaper I’m working from used, resized it to fit, and then layered it over the top. If I was good enough to remove all that filtering I would be off making millions in graphic design or something…

Ah, good shi.
