Need help making my pc better for final fantasy 14

yea thats the mb i have.and i just oc the cpu to 3.51. how do i know if i did right? bc in my system properties it still says 2.80

get a program called cpu-z and a program like speedfan that tell you the temperature. and you cant get add more ram because it only has 2 slots you can only replace them with 2 2gb ram.

i dotn get it. i did eveyrhting i read bout and it wont go pass 2.80. ><

what did you set your fsb to? and did u disable speedstep

well i give up. i put it to 3.50 and saved and exit 3 times now. and when i check it still 2.80. idk whats the problem

i didt see the speed step on the menu. and i put it to 330. which made it to 3.46 i belive

did it reset back to 2.80 in bios each time? and did you disable speedstep?

and is the voltage set to manual?

yea it reset back to 2.80 each time. an di put the voltage like one higher then the defualt one. and i didt see nothing bout speedstep. do u have aim by any chance? bc i gota be restarting the pc evrytime i see u post lol. i can talk to u threw aim threw my fone lol

just foudn the problem. look slike my mb wont let me go that high lol. i put it to 290 which made it 3.04 ghz and it worked. ima see whats the max i can put it on. possibly 3.20

be VERY careful. if this is your first time overclocking, i suggest you read more into it before just setting a higher core speed.
too high without correct voltages, or if voltages go too high period, issues like heat, crashes, and ultimately broken parts will occur.

well i just put my cpu to 3.15 and only put it one higher voltage then the default one. so far nothing bad has happened yet.guess now im missin just ram and a new video card

You probably only really need more ram to run it well. 2gb is pretty low for new games. I’d get 8gb if you are typically running a lot of programs on your computer.

Other than that id maybe change your video card, but you might be better off waiting till you upgrade your ram to see if you even need it.

Never buy newly released video cards btw, or processors. Theyre always overpriced out the ass for the first few months. It’s better to buy the best market value parts unless you’re some turbo nerd that wants to run everything at 202319230923x239021930219 with 16AA.

You should also dl a core temp reader if you’re OCing. Test the OC with 100% load for a couple of hours to see if it crashes. Check your ram voltage if you ever get crashes too.

so i lfeft my pc on all night then ran orthos for 30min. the temp never passed 65C.so im guessing thats pretty good and the oc was a success.and that was just using 100% of the cpu. i really doubt the game will use 100% since i played b4. now just need to buy ddr2 4gb of ram, and a new video card. i was lookin at new egg and ram sur went up. the 1gb x2 sticks i bougth last year was 26$. now there 48$!. wth happened in the last yr that ram got more pricey? lol

thnks for the advice. but yea i checked it with everest. and it never passed 65C. and problem right now is my mb only has 2 slots of ram. and i hear windows xp32bit cant run over 4. so ima have to stick with 4gb.i do have a windows 7 disk and key but aint windows 7 32 bit ram also is maxed out at 4gb?

ima order these. are these good?

your suppose to run orthos for 24 hours. what voltage did you have it set it at? 65C is high

Damn 65 is high? Bc the max for that cpu is 74. I read. And the voltage I put one above the defualt one.I can’t check right now bc I’m at work. So if its goin to high should I put it at a high voltage or put it back to the defualt one?

this is the card i will be buyin by the way lol. what u guys think?

how many watts is your power suppply?

and why would you want it anywhere near the max temp. the closer it is to max temp the closer to it overheating

500 watts. and how can i cool it down some more? i think my fan is decent.
