Get the Core i5 870, 8GB of ram and Nvidia 480GTX. If you really do NOT want the additional CPU cores (i.e. the game doesn’t scale and never will), I’d re-consider the 3.6Ghz option.
Long term, you probably will want at least four cores.

Ya my buddy has similar specs as you and he’s getting around the same score. Somethings wrong with that benchmark tool.

whats the diff of a cpu havin more cores?
FF14 isn’t built for 64bit processing. The beta is pretty buggy right now with hardware. So build a computer with other games you want to play in mind. Building a computer around FF14 only is not a good idea. For most games out there, a quad i5 or i7 with 4-6gb ram and a 200 or 400 series geforce card is fine. That includes FF14.
beautiful thing about the i5/i7’s is that they’re easily overclockable.
i’m running an i7 930 2.8ghz oc’d to 4.0 ghz.
i can link you my build if you want, but it won’t be for $500-600.

Any system with 4+ GB of ram should run a 64bit OS. You are hurting yourself if you buy 4GB+ of ram and run a 32bit OS.
thing is i only want to play ff14. i dont play no other pc games. only LoL and that game is already running at 60fps at matx settings. i just want my pc to bne enough for ff14 60fps. if othe rpc games i liek come out then be it, should run also since ill already have somehting good lol
ima be honest. i only know liek what half of that means lol.
I’m not talking about the OS, I’m talking about the game itself.
You can’t get 60fps. FF14 is locked at 30fps.
this is what i bought.:
you can use any i5, or i7. they’re all equally overclockable
i7 930 processor. (great for OC, im running 4ghz at 1.3volts

corsair h50 processor heatsink (its pre-filled water cooling, but not the greatest “water cooler.” its more on par with the higher end air-coolers. no dust though. you can set it to push/pull config with 2x fans for better performance).

corsair 950 sli PSU (up to you how large you need or if you want an SLI psu)

corsair ram 2x3 12800 (G.Skill is a cheaper brand if you want. Just as reputable and has good reviews, although I haven’t had any personal use).

depending on your processor, your motherboard can be cheaper/different
EVGA E758-TR 3-Way SLI (just get a normal slot 1366/i7 mobo if you don’t plan on SLI).

Cooler master HAF case (great case, lots of room, no screws required. comes with 4 HUGE fans and is very quiet. holes precut for watercooling if you choose to go that route).

items missing:
video card: I have a 9800gtx+ and a gts250 that i’m going to bios flash and run SLI.
the 9800gtx+ is still a great card

also, since they’re so cheap, you can just grab 2 and run an SLI setup.
hard drive: any sata will do.
edit: fixed. sorry.

hmm im thinking of overclocking my cpu from 2.80 to 3.00ghz. should be enough for the game. now thing is i heard its simple for this cpu and i have a zalmon fan/heatsink. does anyoen know how to do this? ima try and look for guides onlien but id rather get help from one of u guys since ull knwo what ur doing.
you have to account for your motherboard for overclocking and i don’t think .2 ghz would do much.
what u mean? liek go into the bios of the mb? and how much should i oc to?
some motherboard overclock better than other motherboards. you would also would have to take account the speed of your ram. and yea you would go into your bios to overclock. you increase the bus speed of the motherboard to increase the speed of the processor. and if you are looking for guides u would need to find what motherboard you have.
would need more information like what motherboard you are using and what speed is your ram.
