Necalli is good all-around. Solid mid-tier. He’s basic, beginner-friendly, like Ryu. Hard to master, though. That’s the thing. If you have any questions, I’m willing to help you out.
So I’ve been playing some Nackers lately and one thing I’ve noticed is people REALLY respect you after they block a s. mp/s. mk. Which of course they should since you’re +2, but they do so to an excessive degree. You might want to try walking forward after such blocks to extend the pressure. I’ve gotten some nasty counterhit combos against good players doing so, especially because after a 1/4 second goes by it looks like you’re walking up to throw them.
I agree with you anyway though, I usually follow st. Mk with cr. Mp but I like to play with the timing a bit sometimes. Do it properly once or twice, then stretch the timing a few times after that. Maybe not smart to use against characters with three frame reversals but it does catch people who jump the gun and think im not following up the mk
What button should I be using in that circumstance? Like if I bait my opponent into hitting a button to try and stop what they think is a throw, I should be using c.MP right? It’s a frame faster than s.MP and has a lower hitbox.
if they’re straight up mashing jab you can do s.MK (blocked), c.MP xx stomp. the c.MP will counterhit their jab and net you damage that SHOULD leave them scared to mash again later. you do stomp because there is no hit confirm in this situation – you are doing the c.MP xx stomp no matter what, which is important because it leaves you safe. if you can confirm that the s.MK hit, you can do s.MK, c.MP xx dash punch.
if they are delaying their button press a bit, you can do s.MK (blocked), walk, s.MK.
if instead of delaying their button press, they are delaying a throw tech, you can do s.MK, step forward, step back, (something to punish their whiffed throw. you can do step forward into target combo (gets v-trigger, but will get you hit if they press a button), c.MK xx EX stomp (safe on block and may stuff a button, but you don’t get a knockdown or anything) or even just walk forward throw)
Hey guys, I’m knew here but have already good bases with Necalli, there is something strange and I’m here to find an answer for it.
I don’t understand why sometimes the LP disc guidance doesn’t connect after c.MP even sometimes it doesn’t connect if c.MP touch on counter hit.
Any ideas ?
My guess is that you’re getting a negative edge issue where you are releasing mp too close to lp. Releasing a button counts as a button press when canceling moves.
Try tapping/releasing mp faster or holding it down.
Anyone see the new midscreen shit for necalli? Always combo to Target combo, double dash. This allows him to continue pressure no matter what on quick rise and back roll. +1 on quickrise +6 on back roll and any combo from there puts them in the corner usually.
I meant to say new video even though I didn’t know about it. Been playing and grinding so much Vega because my team was in SFV Crash that I haven’t played Necalli in a solid month and a half or so.
Muttonman was the first person I’ve seen to suggest that strategy.
Brian F does make great videos, though. No one’s released Necalli footage of that quality on such a regular basis. He does kinda go off styling a bit with the combos, but I guess there’s no harm in showing off the combo variations.
Yeah I’m behind on Necalli shit playing catch up. My sponsor pretty much had me playing Vega and made me get at least 6k lp to get practice vs randoms. I usually get 500+ per play session so it wasn’t really hard, I just think ranked is pointless.
I started using target combo more though. Sacrifice damage for v meter is worth it since vt is so good and you can still get good pressure and set ups in the corner. I’m so fucking rusty though.
Hey guys, I started playing around with Necalli and for the life of me I don’t get how to play neutral/footsies with this character. How do I go from starting a round to mauling people consistently?
