Do we have any recent videos of him? Since it looked like he did really good damage off a heavy starter but couldn’t really ramp up like other characters could with EX moves or V Trigger so he was stuck with Super.
That said, I could see him as the high damage up close character, as he doesn’t really have that great a hit confirm game (only st.mk I think and I’m not sure if his jabs go into anything) and going into his MK Stomp is tough if it’s unsafe.
No quite sure about the V-Skill but I would assume that the recovery is too long on it. You would probably just give them a free anti-air.
As for damage, he should do a lot off of a jump-in. j.HK, st.HP x MK Stomp, c.MP x EX Disc would do a good chunk for example. I haven’t seen any recent footage so I’m not entirely sure if you have enough time to charge the disc after the c.MP but I’m guessing you will (you could EX Stomp I think in the event that you don’t have enough time to charge).
I think EX Stomp gives better positioning anyways even if you lose a bit of damage. Assuming LK Stomp is still safe, he’s going to be scary as hell with super on deck as you can just constantly do cr.mk xx lk stomp in footsies and confirm to super
The EX disc will give significantly more corner push from my understanding as well as better damage. I haven’t played the game myself and this is all just from what I’ve gathered from keeping up with videos etc.
Apparently it’s quite and easy confirm as well so that is something to look forward to.
Ono confirmed yesterday in Mexico that Necalli is Mexican.
In his character artwork, Necalli is seen amongst the ruins of the Templo Mayor, The Great Temple of erstwhile Tenochtitlan (now the capital of Mexico, Mexico City), dedicated to Huitzilopochtli and the rain god Tlaloc [8]. Necalli’s positioning in the image places him right in the vicinity of the Coyolxauhqui monolith, an important Aztec relic related to Huitzilopochtli around which sacrificial offerings were placed [9].
Yeah ok, where did you hear or read this Q&A session? Is there a video or a transcript you are privy to? Were you there personally? There is always a source.
Necalli’s artwork doesn’t look like Mexico. We made comparisons in the story thread, the structure in the back does not look like the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.
So according to Eventhubs.com Necalli’s DP is back to being a motion again. I just hope that we get to play his most recent version because playing an outdated build is bad enough but one with different control schemes is just… discouraging.
toolset wise, he’s got everything, basically: command grab, combo-able lows, and overhead (f+HP), and the divekick to mix-up his jump timing. didn’t play him much, but i’d say he’s very fundamental. good buttons (his heavies have fat hitboxes, his other buttons are faster but less good), good AAs. the startup on his command grab feels like ass, to where it’s probably not viable defensively. not sure if his EX DP is invincible but it seemed to work out (much better than Nash’s at least). EX and HP barrage are definitely unsafe, though. it’s a little akward getting close enough to cancel into stomps, since his c.mk is kinda slow and the stomp special itself doesn’t have too much range, so I didn’t get much going with that. he can link after with jab xx LP barrage, though (saw someone land this)
I wonder if the 3 frame invincibility he gained on the DP when it became charge is retained.
This was necessary. This means he gets his HK Stomp (launches) -> DP combo back. Without that he had to follow-up HK stomp with EX stomp, costing meter. Also EX Command Grab -> DP becomes easier to do.
They should just go ahead and change his forward slash back to motion as well. No fireball invincibility on the non-EX versions, make the EX version slightly slower but with an actual hit of armour (red hitspark armour).
