All on the first page, 2nd post
I was experimenting w/ a ways to land super meaty command grab (ie. cannot be 3f normalād out of.) Hereās one that works off of regular throw (if they quickrise):
VT mode: throw, dash hcb mk~lp
non VT mode, corner only: throw, dash hcb mk~hp
This works because the mk pianoād inside adds an extra frame to bypass throw invulnerability time. After throw dash you are +7, and command grab is 8, so with the piano it makes it 9frames; and given it has 2 active frames, the first active frame misses but the second lands just as throw invulnerability is over, allowing the grab.
EDIT: Iām having second doubts if this actually works. Iām not sure if they eliminated karaās completely, or just the distance gained from kara cancelling. I think you are actually around +10 or +11 after the dash which makes the timing really awkward. Iāve definitely been able to meaty command grab but it was from arbitrary timing, not a consistent one.
Very good stuff ! Iāll try to make it work on my side, but I hope thereās a true setup in here.
+8 after a forward throw dash. Need to wait 2f before throwing.
Okay I kinda just figured out something insane from backthrow.
You are +16 after backthrow I believe, so if you do backthrow, dash st.hk, it becomes extremely meaty and makes you +5 on hit and -2 on block. So if its a CC you get a combo, if its a regular hit you can combo into cr.mp LP rush, if youāre in VT mode you can do cr.mp MK stomp, cr.mp HP DP, and on block you are very safe.
EDIT: Itās not frame perfect so you have to wait a bit, but its not difficult to do.
Itās nice to keep in your pocket but you can also just do a normal meaty that doesnāt leave you minus. Itās +15 after a single dash btw, so you can do dash -> walk for 10 frames, st.mk -> cr.mp xx whatever. Really, itās more useful on a Slash ender where you dash, see if they backrolled. If they did, do a st.hk. Combos into LP/EX Slash and CA on CCH, otherwise you can do a standard meaty pattern.
Also, other cool thing I found is that if you do HK Stomp -> EX Stomp -> Forward Dash it perfectly sets up a meaty throw.
Good to know. Where did you find out your meaty timings? Iāve been manually testing them out but its largely been ineffecient. Does the booklet tell you them?
Booklet? This is all from me doing lots of lab work
Oh nice, sorry about that. Iāve been been able to figure out some but nothing that exact.
I mean, Iām taking the frame data from the raw knockdown advantage column of @gilley 's frame data, so mad props to him, but thatās just as a base to start from. Everything after the knockdown advantage is basically me just figuring out what works
soooo, his meaty of choice in most cases is s.LK? iām having trouble with his oki game, while all the corner resets are really great thanks to the overhead + command grab!
His oki really depends on what you think theyāll do. Heās pretty much a hard reads character. I usually use St.mk, or CR.HP for meaties cause they go into the most damage on hit, and then St.lk command grab, if I think they will do a late throw tech, neutral jump.
Yes, generally. A meaty st.lk goes into st.mk without a counterhit needed which gives you a cr.mp xx Slash midscreen and a Target Combo in the corner (do the target combo in the corner, gets you a reset or EX DP for max damage). You can also do meaty st.lk -> LP/EX Grab and have it beat any button they press.
Sorry if thatās a stupid question ā¦ how do you " walk for 10 frames " ? Seems hard to walk for exactly 10 frames without anything to help calculate.
10 frames is 1/6th of a second. Itās timing that requires practice. Like playing drums or piano. Keep it on beat.
You donāt need to even be exact here, thatās just the optimal amount. Practice practice practice
Is VT Necalliās forward dash confirmed faster than non-VT? The CC safejump changes from dash cr.lk to dash st.lk, and since thatās a difference of 2 frames it would make the dash 15 frames (its 17 frames regular Necalli.) But it also could be he simply recovers faster from the sweep or the normals have better recovery.

No clue, go bug gilley to update his frame data if you dare
If you do meaty sLK and they tech throw does SPD beat it?
If you do meaty sLK and they tech throw does SPD beat it?
You mean you do a meaty and they block it then you do an EX Grab? Yes, if done perfectly; you can get up to +5 on block which means than an EX Grab followup beats any button.
