It has been brought to my attention from various sources that there is a secret boycott against NCR4.
John Choi,Buktooth,and many other players are refusing to come to the regional for the fact that I am one of the people running the tourney. They are claiming that I run bad tourneys and are getting other players not to come.
The facts are I asked John Choi online in MIRC chat server if he was coming to the tourney and if he was still running it. He said that NO he wasn’t coming and that he didnt want to run it anymore, and that it used to be Tragic’s tourney so he didnt want that burdon anymore. So I talked to Korngo and management at SVGL to get this going…and Korngo and I personally started inviting players from all over to come.
For one to clear up rumors I dont rig brackets I prefer to fight hard challenges and learn new things…SVGL tourneys in the past that I have not run have had many complaints of being rigged to advance the same players who usually make top 5 not to mention matching out of towners and good players up early so “they” wouldnt have to fight them.
Bottom of the line it sucks that players holding grudges would hold them back from attending NCR4. I am not making the brakets it will be an outside neutral party to make it all fair.And it is sad that people talk all this shit behind your back…my example is BUKTOOTH a player that I highly respected and thought of as a friend and ally…I guess he’s only cool face to face.
Despite all the hate and bad things floating around I personally invite John Choi,Ricky Ortiz,Buktooth and anyone else who is in this secret boycott. If you come thats great it would make many out of towners happy so they can meet and play you. And IF NOT then we will have a great tourney regardless. I know I’m no angel and I talk shit and things of that sort but who doesnt…it keeps the fighting spirit alive and the scene more fun…if I have offended anyone in the past I apologize and wish to move ahead. Just remember many things that lurk in the dark about me dont go by un heard.
Buk would have to buy plane tix to get here so I can see why he wouldn’t want to come unless the tourney was going to be huge.
If Choi doesn’t go then Choi doesn’t go… When was the last time he hit up a SVGL tourney anyway?
Everyone who runs tournies has to deal with people not wanting to go or not being able to show up. Sometimes people have other stuff to do, or maybe they just don’t wanna go. No problem, just run your shit the way you were planning to run it minus 2-3 people.
just draw out of a hat, I know alot of people who are excited about NCR4, maybe not people that others care to play, but thats not our probs. Lets just play video games with other people who Wan’t to play, thats all we do.
It, sucks that some good players can’t/won’t come but who cares, we can sharpen our skills without them, since when was it only a tourney when Choi Buk and all the other Titans show up.
It gives all us other players a better cvhance, personally I’d wrather have alot of same skilled players than a couple really good players. Ricky is Ricky, we all know he’ll win, but we can still give him a run for his money
Don’t be discouraged Doc B. I’m sure this stuff is all heresay, the people you listed seem cool to me, I doubt they would pull some shady shit.And why would they care if you rigged the brackets, they would still win or place high.
This tourney will go on as planned…all the “superstar” players who feel they need justification to come or that they are too good to show DONT come…I really could care less.

All in all I dont stay quite and all hush hush about things I tell the public they have the right to know whats behind the scenes.
I thought our “beef” was already done with, but you come back on and talk some more shit for no reason (calling me Ricky’s secretary wTF). The only reason I brought up Ricky was because you were crying about the top guys not showing up and I was lettin people know that’s not entirely true.

If people don’t want to go, then they don’t want to go. Every tournament has to deal with that same stuff.
Countless BEARcade tournaments were boycotted by a handful of people for random reasons, a couple of them having to do with other people.
A bajillion “NCR’s” were boycotted because of shitty sticks, this is nothing new.
Even EVO gets boycotts.
People need to let this go. Besides, it just means a better shot at money for the people that do go, and it already seems there is enough people going for them to at least have some fun.
Dr. B, if someone came along and posted crap about one of your friends, wouldn’t you say something about it? I would hope so.
This is exactly what Keith is doing, but you go and call him a secretary. I would think that you of all people would respect someone for standing up for his friends.
Plus, it doesn’t seem that Ricky has an active voice on these forums so it makes even more sense for Keith to say something.
Whatever issues you have with Keith is your own and I’m not trying to convince you otherwise, I just felt that “secretary” line was a bit out of hand and uncalled for.
