WNB Episode 29 was a total blast and the best one thus far!!! Thanks to everyone that came out to support YOUR local fighting game scene. Shoutouts to the new faces that showed up as well as to all the regulars that keep making an appearance. Major thanks go out to all of you who helped the tourney run smooth and quick so that everyone could have a good time…you know who you are! And finally thanks to Rockem Sockem’s very own Tacticks for coming out to WNB and for bringing the Charlotte gang with players like Schixofrenic and of course Masta CJ…good work guys RESPECT!
We fixed the sound problem on the video archive and we had an issue free tournament so the video looks more than awesome.

so what if i said Mount Airy just opened a new game place? And they were looking to maybe hold a tourny? some casuals? all in all, just wanted to test the water to see what the turnout would look like or if there was any interest at all. I noticed Winston, Greensboro, Boone, etc had some scenes. My goal here is to try and put MA on the map somehow. lol
Mount Airy? Where’s that located?

MA is 45 mins NW of Winston Salem, 1hr 20mins NNE of Boone, 1hr NW of Greensboro, and 2hrs N of Charlotte. Google Map it if you still need help.
My cousins wife is from Mount Airy, I went there for his wedding a few years back. I remember going to the mall there and I think if you stood at one end, you could see the other end rather easily, kind of funny and sad. Sorry, I don’t mean to be an asshole, just giving my brief impressions of what I though. But anyways it seems like a small town, smaller then where I’m from(Newton-Conover-Hickory-etc.). So support from the local community may be very low and you’ll need to depend on guys from out of town to make your tournament successful if you run one.
A few years back a guy from my area tried running monthlies in Hickory when SSF4 came out. The first one was successful with 23 players, which really surprised me. But after that, hardly anybody came out. Over time it was just the same local 6 guys. Besides a few guys, we never really saw people from Charlotte or the Tri-City. After a while he finally shut it down because of low attendance.
I guess what I’m trying to say that it’s going to be hard. I guess part of the problem is that we’re nobodies in the eyes of the rest of NC. We had no OG’s, we were just some upstarts trying to start a tournament. And guys from the bigger areas just ignored us and stuck with what they were use to. Simply advertising isn’t enough, I think you have to reach out to the more prominent members from other areas like Tactiks to try to create more awareness and interest. This is just my opinion though, I’m not sure what else could have been done to make it more successful.
So I finally got all moved in to my new spot in Greensboro and I’m giving up online play so I can level up my execution, but I don’t want to commit to the tournament scene yet because I’ll be busy with work and school. I want to get some good matches in with people in the area. Somebody let me know wusssgoooooood
