NC Thread LXVII (67) - RIP MaximumBurst

It’s easier to main a game if it’s easier to get into, and Persona will have a lower entry barrier than KOF. As for KOF, I don’t think it will die, but the folks who aren’t really competitive at the game will drop off, and that will drop numbers.

Same cycle for every other game. Gets hype, the folks who aren’t good at the game drop off and run to the next big thing, rinse and repeat.

What’s going to happen when the new games don’t come out like they have this year? You find something you love and want to learn, and find comp- even if it’s just PSN/XBL/GGPO- the most important thing with a hobby is that you enjoy it.

I do think a balance patch will come for Persona, all of Arc’s big success games get a ton of sequels/DLC/followup, why would this be any different.

Who here has played P4A? First everyone wants people to play, then they claim its “broken” and demand patch, then drop game for something else. Lets just play it and see how it goes since NC doesnt have a good track record for growing anime games. The game looks great and people are hype about it, but the same thing happened with BB, AH, and SG.

People are trying to support a game they havent even touched yet. Even before I was trying to spread hype abot KOF and Tekken I had at least played the arcade version first.

But more than likely the same people hype about P4A are gonna drop it as soon as GG hits console again. And then the circle continues. :frowning:

While not everyone is gonna play the game (obviously), P4U definitely has some great potential in this state. There is even some new blood in Mayonakamidnight’s NC thread that has expressed some interest in the game (something that every FG needs)… And actually, the admin of the site lives in Raleigh, so you know that’s already an automatic +1 new player that’s actually going to be >>dedicated<< to the game.

I also gotta say that people just need to stop being so concerned about who will / won’t play the game, how many will drop it, etc… Who the hell wants to play a game when people are already discussing dropping it before the game has even been released in the US? You’re already digging your own graves.

How about instead of wasting your time complaining, and worrying about people playing the game… actually do some real research and share that with everyone. There is more to this game than Naoto, high damage, and SMP combos.

That said, I hope to come back to a strong P4A scene when I return to NC later this year. I’ll be practicing / playing with Jacksonville FL, so I’ll be ready to jump in this game when I come back.

Wrote my first blog post on a concern with the fighting game community. I included mentions of North Carolina and what’s going down south. What are your thoughts? If you like, feel free to repost somewhere- http://bit.ly/QapR3R

To be fair, I consider myself maining both games. I enjoy both pretty much equally, and for different reasons. Marvel is a fun, creative, ridiculous fuck around game that I have fun with and get to use characters I love. KoF is an honest, but still offensive and really enjoyable game that fills my need for real fighting game. I really give about both equal amounts of love, and I even would be playing KoF more if there were more serious players. But that brings me to my second point:

A lot of the old heads seem to be dropping off because of lack of serious players and people not really putting effort into the game. We’ve tried to bring hype to the game but it seems to be falling on ears deafened by SF4 and Marvel. I’m going to stick with it personally because I really think this game deserves to last though. WE’ve got some new interest at WNB and if we foster that interest, it may pull more into the KoF group. All the old heads are going to get sucked into the vortex of real life eventually anyway so it’s important to build a young player base to keep the game alive IMO.

Oh Jon is that $100 still up for grabs in KOF? If so Im coming for it come August. I want to see some other guys trying to grab it as well. Gonna burn some muscle.

Honestly, I can’t afford that right now so I have to pull that offer, unless someone else wants to take up the mantle? But as for me, nah. No money coming out of this pocket atm.

What was the stip on that? I might could do it.

100 if a TH member or other approved new player could be established players like Me, Lu, and a bunch of others. Basically anyone new getting into the game that’s not an old head.

I really don’t think that will be a problem- I think at the end of the year this will be the 4th most popular fighter out there behind AE/Marvel/TTT2.

Hey guys I just wanted to post up and make an announcement:

RESE and Master CJ WILL BE AT WNB TOMORROW.

Please come out and show your support. If you need a ride, get up with someone. I want this one to be a success and I’d like to show what a bad ass scene we have down here and how many skilled players we have.

I know it’s short notice but Roski, Erik, Brent, etc etc that are good but rarely come, think you guys can make an appearance?

I was thinking about hitting this one anyways. Somebody scoop me up?

I got you on the ride up there. Won’t be leaving till the end though so if you need someone else to take you back, just giving you fair warning.

We will be up there about 8 or so. I will be looking for some money matches in AE so bring your money with you too. I like clean crisp bills please.

how is the food there… i will have 10 dollars to eat

or should i use the money on money matches
