NC Thread LVI - Sessions / Tournaments in the First Post

If you just send me a private message I can just print it out/pass the message along to him. Glad he has some potential. I wish I could get him more practice but don’t really know much about Asuka. I mostly played T3 so i’m kinda oldschool who hasn’t fully transitioned yet.

I was playing :stuck_out_tongue: T6 Elite Zone 2, EZ tekken SeventhFonon on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment

But yeah, we’ll definitely get in matches next time. I think I was playing Arcana when you were playing Tekken. And I was playing Tekken when you were playing Marvel. xD

Demo and Garrett got hit by the dark phoenix and I got hit by phoenix tk shot barrage. for the people that didnt get to phoenix, phoenix was still a factor. when phoenix is in the whole match changes and you dont play like you normally would. Mentality is and has to be very different then playing a normal match.

I really hope a phoenix player wins EZ Tourney.

I honestly don’t think phoenix really played a part in why I lost lol. I just threw 2 characters into sentinel, then dropped an xfactor combo on two characters. I played OJ a lot after that and did fine… was just bad luck really in that match. Garret didn’t look like he really had any experience fighting that team. We’ll do better if it happens again.

Thanks for the reply but awww. Do you play fighters on it?

I was thinking of having something here in Fuquay at the little gaming lounge we have here and those are the tvs they use.

So someone in Greensboro finally announces a gathering and I have no ride today. Lame

Also, I have no idea how to play Dante and all I ever see on streams is MSS, MWS, ZMS, MSP or Wong. He’s supposed to be top tier, right? He feels so vanilla in the hands of a noob.

It basically just means I can always play Trish on point, which I wanted to do anyway since my Storm is still ass, just haven’t played enough with her yet. I could even switch her out now if I want…

Speaking of TVs, guess I’ll just try PMing Roski about those panasonics since that’s a slightly higher likelihood of getting hold of him lol.

I honestly think Dante should just auto kill anyone he touches if the Dante player knows what he’s doing. But he is definitely more of a scrub killing character when you first pick him up, making him top is kind of hard comparatively because he doesn’t get the hit as easily. Passive-aggressive style probably works best with him, he can be played quite lame if you want.

Yeah I agree with that Blake. Forcing hits with Dante is a lot harder than say… with Magneto. Plus his combos that do 100% are pretty hard IMO.

Hrm, I’d disagree somewhat. They’re harder than average, but I wouldn’t call them prohibitively difficult, they are executable in match with a reasonable amount of practice. I’d say Magnus combos are harder, especially his loops. Dante has a lot of other stuff going for him that the other top tiers may not have, though.

How much Phoenix experience do you have though? It’s not unreasonable to get beat by something you’ve never played against. It’s like the first time I ever played Blanka in tourney. OJ’s Blanka beat me pretty soundly. I went to the lab figured shit out and now I have the knowledge to win the fight. This really isn’t anything new in fighting games, they all have ultimate characters, and the ultimate characters aren’t always winning tourneys. I’ll still bitch and complain just like anyone but it’s something you either learn and get around or fall off due to laziness. Just takes more effort than required for other teams.

But anywho thanks for coming out guys. Really good games last night, I definitely feel like I leveled up a bunch. I know if Will hadn’t started playing zero recently I would have been completely fucked against Jon, lots of good mix ups and you have great execution too, but fuck Zero combos are like sitting through screenings of gods and generals. Demo, as soon as chris exited the scene and you started zoning Wolverine with magnus the match got more difficult, haha you stopped me from bulldogging, I think Magnus is the better point, but I’m probably just as stubborn about characters if not more so (IE abel) so if that’s where your heart is at keep rocking him. Garrett: Fuck the hammer! what a gay move. Kris we gotta play more mang, we didn’t get enough matches BUT I did win the world match:rock:

OJ IS A BEAST.

I think I know where I am on the state level, and I know what I need to work on. Just a few more guys I need to play against in the state.

Last night was fun, it was good seeing everyone last night. KEEP COMING TO EZ CAUSE IT’S GDLK

Crazy dance at the end of a long combo isn’t difficult?

Thanks for the compliments. Still mad it took like 3 30 minute combos to kill your characters and then you’d give zero a mean look and he’d die lol

Also those few more guys = Matt/Roski. They don’t lose at gatherings because they don’t come out

Thank you everyone to make it to EZ, it was so good to see New faces as well as the familiars. So many different people and so many names, so everyone please forgive me if introduce myself again or ask your name again, I am old after all please humor me haha. I had a blast, team exhibition was very entertaining and I can see the event on the 21st being real fun. Maybe to add an incentive, winner the team event gets to have their title on the next thread for NC, something like " NC Thread LVII - Team owns NC".

Thanks to Mike n company for streaming and recording the matches.

Players I’ve played against and I consider them great:

Tom
Jon
Garrett
James

Players I haven’t played against but I’m assuming they’re great:

Matt
Alex
Angus

I may just have to travel out to Greenville and Wilmington to get a clear sense of where I stand in NC.

@ Kevin

I made a post in the EZ thread that you may wanna check out.

Well even after not giving up and still trying to get in contact with others for sessions it looks like EZ is the only one to depend on. Plus it looks like a lot of people from elsewhere come out to EZ so all around I guess it works out for me. I’ll just have to dust off and practice up some for T6 and work on my MvC3 for the next EZ. I’ve gotten way to competitive for the whole “play for fun” reason and unless I’m actually trying to compete it just seems like a waste of time for me these days. The reason people are better than me now is because I never practice and have only played at gatherings. I play more Halo than all my fighting games combined these days and I despise Halo at times. The reason I still play Halo is because I can actually play against human players.

I want to see the NC fighting game community, as well as the fighting game community as a whole, grow bigger and better. Its just that I have my personal reasons for deciding to play fighting games again and aim at such a high level. From what I know NC isn’t considered to have the top players in the US, which was why I ended up ranting about why doesn’t NC players try leveling up together and being better than other states a long time ago. I don’t mind going to sessions if people are having them and I’m not cocky enough to think that I can’t learn anything from anyone. I have a goal in mind and unless I’m going for it all the way then there’s no point in me to even bother with it.

Is this the general consensus? That its just due to lack of experience that a phoenix player wins against you and nothing is wrong with the character?

EDIT: I’ve probably played around 30 matches against OJs phoenix team.

Haha, Where are those BULLIES whois punching everyone in the face???

@ Josiah

I wasn’t going to post this since I told this to you in person but it seems that you’re still all worked up over Phoenix. Here’s the deal, you have precisely two options:

  1. Adapt
  2. Quit

Yes Phoenix is unbalanced and not fun to play against. If you don’t have the resolve to work through that then MvC3 isn’t for you.

Damn son…I see how it is…I lost OJ’s Dark Phoenix too…remember…just Dark Phoenix in the air spamming H Shot while I had Doom…

i’ll be at the session at uncc today… come on down charlotte
