I’m pretty humble, though. I fully admit I’m low-tier, but I figure if I hang around with people who know what they’re doing, I can improve myself. After a while, I might just get to the level where I can be a serious competitor, but I gotta start somewhere, right?
Seems people are really confused on the definition of poverty games. Now the true definition of poverty games is kind of like pornography. It’s hard to describe what it is, but I know it when I see it.
So, if you are wondering:
IF you have to travel to a major just to find people who have even HEARD of your game…then you might be a poverty gamer
IF you have ever had to have the newest information about your game translated from MORE THAN ONE language into English…then you might be a poverty gamer
IF you would describe getting 20+ people signed up for your side tournament at a major on some old TV in the corner one of the biggest tournaments ever held…then you might be a poverty gamer
IF your game has a topic on a fighting game forum with the same 8 people posting for 3 years and you’re the only one who speaks English as your first language…then you might be a poverty gamer
IF the Melty Blood community starts acting elitist to you…then you might be a poverty gamer
IF the only decent console port of your game has to be imported and is only available on a system that died well over 6 years ago…then you might be a poverty gamer
IF your game is picked randomly to be held in the Mystery Game Tournament and Darksyde Phil randomly records matches of it and simply refers to it as “that shitty game”…then you might be a poverty gamer
IF your game spawns flame wars in your topic including people flaming each other in 3 or more languages throughout the thread…then you might be a poverty gamer
IF you can accurately pick apart every single thing Dimps borrowed from some “obscure” game to put into SF4 until you determine that the game has absolutely NOTHING that wasn’t already done in another game…then you might be a poverty gamer
If you look up to the MELTY BLOOD COMMUNITY as a model on how to grow your scene…then you might be a poverty gamer

People just get riled up easily, you picked the best time to join in my opinion. I wish more people would come in here and stir up shit. There’s lots of events going on, gatherings and so on. I don’t think Faye is too far from Greensboro so they got Elite Zone every friday there and a tournament the 21st, and greensboro seems to have a few sessions every now and then as well. Basically it’s all about if your gonna talk like your good then you gotta back it up with solid proof but if your just like “yea i’m still learning” then people are willing to teach you if you come out to sessions. I mean like you said you’re humble so there shouldn’t be a problem.
