I was talking of when someone has transformed with a character left, switched out with dark on assist. I kill partner, before Phoenix comes in, ball, teleports abound.
I really don’t think phoenix is the problem everyone is making her out to be. Sure if you let them get 5 bars and don’t snap her in but can you really not get a single hit on them before they get 5 bars to get her in there? And then another hit to kill her? I mean I know she’s good and I know Matt is going to think she is broke because he lost to her and other top players that haven’t had enough experience fighting her are also losing to her and thus she should be banned, but I’m still not convinced. It’ll take atleast 6 months of getting consistently raped by her with people in the lab trying to counter the character to no avail that I say “shit, she’s too good, I give up”.
I mean if we want to play theory fighter, say you kill regular phoenix with Stalking Flare, opponent transforms and tries to teleport behind you, couldn’t you DHC into someone else and kill her as she teleports? Okami Shuffle / Hail storm… doesn’t matter where she’s going. If she was in the air, she won’t be x factoring to save herself.
Also, Phoenix did not win FR. Phoenix didn’t win some of the european tournaments. If she is bannable she should be winning every single tournament she enters.
That would be interesting, 'cause in general, the phoenix players are stingy w/ meter usage since they need the lvl 5, so they probably won’t WANT to do a super on the way in, right?

If so, would that be a true inescapable thing on Phoenix when she transforms?
Even though that character didn’t win final round or any other major doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be banned. It should be enough concern of the full potential that the character can reach. You have to take into consideration the game is still new and phoenix players are only going to get better as the game progresses. Everybody says just snap her in and mix her up, but the phoenix player knows thats what people want to do to them. Its only a matter of time before that strat starts to run thin. I already think she has good tools to combat that anyway. She push blocks your mix-up then what are you going to do?

Get back in and rape her? If she hard tags out out can just punish them into another snap back. I’m just saying, yes, the phoenix players are young, but so too are the anti phoenix strats. It’s a two way street and the “BAN BAN BAN” reaction is retarded this early in the games life.

My issue with Phoenix isn’t anything having to do with how good she is or whatever (she’s fucking amazing). It’s the fact that zoning characters are rendered useless simply by picking her. So the plan is snap her in and mix her up, right? Hope you aren’t playing Chris, MODOK, Trish, Ryu, etc. because you can’t mix her up. Zoning a Phoenix team is suicidal, and THAT is the reason I think the game is better off without her at this point; the lack of Phoenix opens up more strategies in total to the player.
I know that people don’t want to believe that their baby has a banworthy character in it. I know that everyone’s gonna say that “You just think this because you lost to her” or whatever scrubby retarded bullshit they want to say. I don’t care about any of that, because Phoenix is top tier BEFORE she transforms, and afterwards…well, yeah. For now? I’m playing her.
This game is probably more easily accessible than most any game before it (vids, the guide, etc.) and I know info travels fast nowadays. But is 5 weeks really enough to decide?

I thought teleport characters in general gave zoning teams some trouble? Aside from Wesker and Akuma it seems like everyone who has a teleport can use it to just get behind you no matter where you are.
Oh well. I’m just going to play the game. I’ll worry about cutting the items off and only picking Final Destination down the road when everyone else is playing Fox too.
