So uhh…I’ve gotten a lot cheesier through my FR Marvel experiences, affirming the fact that if you pay enough attention, you can glean a lot of information by going to and entering tournaments even when you’re ass at a game.
lol hate to be Mr. Broken Record here, but until you manage to drop your habit of wanting to constantly attack, dealing with characters that you have to respect (like Sentinel) will always be difficult for you. That being said, when you get in the proper situations, you know what to do, so I’m sure you’ll get it eventually.
Was messing with Zero/Dante earlier. I had a nice team lined up with these characters during week 1 or so of the game, but I ended up dropping it because of the difficulty with DHCing between Zero and Dante. I saw something in the Zero forum that made me reconsider though (DHC from Rekkoha into DT for shenanigan damage). Also wondering if any Zero players have messed around with TK L Sentsuizan, seeing as you can attack from it almost immediately to create instant overheads. I guess Hienkyaku crossups are still too good for anyone to bother experimenting with anything else.
Actually I did both of those things you mentioned about Zero / Dante yesterday, dunno if you noticed. Rekkoha > Devil Trigger > Super Jump > j.S into whatever works really well. The Sentsuizan feint I used a few times too but it’s hard to see, definitely useful behind an assist when your crazy cross up shit isn’t working. Also those times you were like WTF IS HITTING ME WHERE ARE YOU?? Was when I called Amaterasu and did TK M Lightning dive. The blue lightning blends in with the ice so suddenly Zero is behind you, it’s really hard to see in the right situation.
Also level 3 buster is super good. It really helps the annoying matchups. That shit rapes sentinel lol.
Oh also, Dante can DHC into Rekkoha after the last hit of million dollars if you time it JUST right. It’s pretty tight though.
Weasel Shot is still Dante’s best assist IMO. I can see Jam Session being good for the characters that stay in the air forever like trish but ehh… weasel is good defensively and offensively, plus it’s hard to see if you don’t notice Dante, the bullets are practically invisible.
I actually never saw you DHC into Dante from Zero because you always had Dante last on your team when you played me. The DHC I was messing with is more corner-based, DT into Acid Rain loops. It’s powerful because Zero’s combos don’t use special states like wall or ground bounces, so Dante can really extend the combo well. The weakness is that it uses a lot of meter because Zero’s combos only build about a meter or so on average and Dante builds no meter whatsoever in DT, so you need to have at least two meters when you start the combo if you want to end it with Million Dollars with Dante.
Ditto with the TK L Sentsuizan, I’m pretty sure you never used this when you played me. I was mostly getting hit because I wasn’t blocking low, lol.
With Dante on point, DHC into Rekkoha works better if you do it just after the last volley of shots before he fires the big blast. Less damage, but infinitely more reliable. Too bad it’s limited to corner only, those two have limited team synergy.
Jam Session is better than Weasel Shot for different characters. Weasel Shot works better for Zero because of its longer range and because of how far away Zero can cross up with Hienkyaku. Weasel Shot is also a better Crossover Counter because Dante can combo off of it. Jam Session controls a ton of space though, and is still highly viable on offense, plus it can be comboed off of more easily as an assist.
lol we talked about that last night and I kept bringing it up whenever Jon would run into my Sentinel’s launcher. “I thought you watched the video, Jon!” But he can do it, he just has to get in the right position. Generally, he did a lot better if Zero stayed alive, cuz by the time Sentinel came out, he would still have to deal with Ammy, which is an ass match for Sentinel.
Yeah I know how to fight Sentinel. One thing that got me was they say his launcher has 18 frames before it goes into hyper armor but that definitely didn’t seem to be the case when I was pressuring, so I did get hit a lot thinking I was at more of an advantage when I wasn’t. I think I’ll just jump around spamming level 3 buster to fight Sentinel, that shit is too good vs him. Fighting him in the air seems to be the best course of action usually.
Also Matt if you’re judging my ability to fight him off that one night we were playing, I was too drunk and half asleep to follow any sort of strategy lol.
Usually if I lose to sent it’s in xfactor to a grab. You definitely have to swing at some point, people will start getting scarier with sent down the line I think… no one’s even using him to his full potential of assholishness yet.
“Daisuke Ishiwatari: Guilty Gear got too hardcore for some people, so we wanted to reset the level of entrance. BlazBlue was the answer to it. Also, the generation of Guilty Gear players has become a certain age ? maybe a little bit too old for playing games. So making that reset brings in a new generation of fighting game players. Then they will be with us for the next few years.”
From the latest interview…
Also have you guys heard how the ESRB rated AH3 for the Xbox 360? Anyone know if that’s just a standard practice or if it may be getting a release after all.
anyone in the gboro area down for playing mvc3 sometime this week? I just moved into my apt and i just wanna get more in person exp before i start going to tournaments
What’s up guys. Sounds like you all are still posting. It would be so much easier if the NC crew created their own forum to keep up with the massive amounts of topics in this one thread. Maybe I’ll make one?
Anyways, you guys still getting together to play weekly in Raleigh? I’ve been going to a group at red storm ubisoft in Cary but not a lot of hardcore competition there. I’d like to up my game a little and I think that’d only be done by finding someone better than me.
Jon was telling me about that TK L sentsuizan stuff in the car on the way home…or maybe the way up there? I remember cause I was telling him how on day 1 I had no idea what that thing was. I do usually see him DHC Dante in with Okami Shuffle into Million Dollars though.
I need more match experience with the team I’m trying to make, (Hsien-Ko, Trish and Storm in some order), but I could do better with my random ass Trish, Thor, Cap team just because I know things to do at neutral better with them. Esp. with Storm, I didn’t know how to use my normals…I guess I should jump around with j.S.
Sticking Ammy in the middle of that DHC order makes the whole thing a lot easier because Okami Shuffle is full screen and you DHC in Dante just before the last hit so the final lightning bolt knocks them directly into Million Dollars. I wasn’t really interested in that layout because I don’t really want to play Ammy. I will probably stick with Wolvie/Dante and might sub out Sent for someone else. We’ll see.
The team I’ve landed on is Dorm, Hulk, and Sent. I start with Dorm on point. Been trying to find the best ways to open the match usually I’ll stay close right to the last second, dash back and call hulk up charge. That works a good portion of the time. Just to give myself some breathing room to start a puddle or hole. However, some chars get passed hulk before he starts going up and I’m stuck with a pressure all on top of me.
Suggestions?
Sent is probably my weakest link, as I just added him to the team. I used to have ironman but his assist was bring the combo damage way too low. And when he was forced to join the fight he just wasn’t accomplishing what I wanted. Anyways, I’m not a scrub spamming cr.M and S. But I would like to know some good mix up, trickery options with him. Best ways to land his throw, how to trick a turtling, runaway opponent. Usually I’ll activate flight to temp someone to attack me then hit them with the S cancel.
Also, my most used combo is after launcher is MMHxxflightxxLLMHS etc. Better options?
