NC Thread LIV: No name for this one

You are either the worst judge of character ever or you have never watched professional sports nor wrestling in your life and thus do not comprehend the concept of “shittalk” or “cutting a promo”.
Filipino Champ was the nicest, humblest top player I dealt with all weekend. Keits has ALWAYS been cool. Tokido, one of the biggest Japanese troll players ever, was polite as fuck the whole weekend, even bowing to TOs like me.
It’s not being “two-faced”. It’s called being a “character”.

People dislike wrestling ‘characters’ when they’re heels as if that’s how they really are… So who’s to say Jimmy’s not hating the ‘character’ persona? Especially if he’s never met FC.

I got the lamentations down. I want that cancellable st.LK!

Well, I have no idea what your XBL is, but you should be able to add me. I’m currently soul searching a main, but, so far, I use Sagat and Cammy and have no idea what SFII fundamentals are because these characters are similar to SSFIV yet so drastically different and it confuses the crap out of me.

Is there any way to get rid of this awful slow down effect in HDR? It’s so dumb.

I may be able to make this. 2 days sounds interesting… What’s being done differently for this gamefrog that it requires 2 days to complete?

Jimmy - I was thinking about going to ECT also (arcade 3S on Japanese h2h!!!)

For the most part, I agree with everything in the quoted post…except this. I tried to have a serious discussion with the dude at Waffle House back during the “Brawl with items” eventual fiasco and it was like talking to a 5 year old.

So all the shittalk you hear behind the scenes is always for “character” Shiki? I personally overheard HAV talk the most degrading shit-talk about our players to the guy he rode with when he came down from Maryland. But he was so nice in person. I think I’m a pretty good judge of character. The only people I’ve hated on so far, I hated on alone. Everyone else in the state told me how wrong I was, and how nice of the guy the dude I was hating on was. For about two weeks. After that, all of a sudden it looked like Jimmy was right.

I can’t figure out how someone can’t comprehend the idea that someone can smile and be nice and humble to your face, but be arrogant talk mad shit about you behind your back. We have a term for people who use “characters.” They’re called two-faced. Google that shit.

I could see where you’re coming from though. You think the character is the one in the interviews. That’s cute. But you’re right, there’s no possible way he would be nice to someone walking around in a blue FR staff shirt, someone who doesn’t really play shit anyway. Of course FC isn’t just a straight dick to random people. I’m just pretty sure he’s only a dick when talking about fighting game players, which would explain why he was so nice to the FR staff.

HAV is a cool guy, and I know exactly what he said about our players. You know what else?

He’s right.

So he’s pretty much a pussy?

I dunno. James heard some stuff, and I heard some other stuff too. I highly doubt you stalked HAV around Lucky’s and heard all of what he had to say, everytime he had to say it. I just know the stuff I heard I didn’t care for.

Well, out with it then. What did he say that offended you so much? Did it offend you because you knew it to be the case?

If it’s what I think it was, then it’s 100% true, and it’s the thing that has me considering whether or not I want to keep doing this shit anymore.

I REALLY wouldn’t worry so much about other players and what they say. Everyone talks shit, EVERYONE. It hurts when you or the group you’re from is at the end of it but I mean… everyone has egos, everyone talks / looks down on people they can easily beat, from what I’ve seen, even if they aren’t open about it.

I would just focus on leveling up. I could have beaten Mr 2 face this weekend, I definitely didn’t feel the gap was that huge. So instead of worrying about what he said, I’m going to get better, and I’m going to rape him and everyone like him until they have nothing left to talk shit about other than my hair and social awkwardness.

Oh I don’t lose sleep over it. Just saying he was a dick. He didn’t say anything to or about me, just about NC. Pretty much every person he fought and was super nice to, SUPER NICE, he then turned around and dogged on hard. Like, within seconds. That’s all.

I mean, you can be nice to the people and respect the people but then talk shit about them as players. I did that with the CGS people… I didn’t have anything against THEM. They just sucked at the game.

I imagine it was the same for him?

Hope you can make it out and I will try to promote alot more AH3 and even trying to bring some new people in the scene.

For those that need a comic book example haha but overall after seeing the interview my personal opinion on the subject is similar to yours.

I don’t know what was said but I always hear mad shit talk about NC’s players like all the time how we’re pringles and everyone just plays like 5 different games but is not good in one single one or that we are good in games that are irrelevant now so one extra person talking like this doesn’t surprise me or offend me if it was somewhere along those lines.

Well I don’t get that tbh, there are like 50 states. Why are we focused on so much anyway? You never hear shit about Nebraska or Kentucky and they’ve gotta be ass.

I don’t think anyone really talks about us all that much. We just notice what IS said because we’re from NC. I’m pretty sure we’re irrelevant.

Cali gets a lot of hate (and love). Thats for sure.

So much drama, hate, serious business, $$$, butt hurt, etc. Sometimes I think it’d be better if we didn’t play for money. It’s a necessity though almost -just- because of there needing to be incentive for travel. Eventually I guess if things get big enough, we’ll just have to pay venue fees and the sponsors will front prizes.

Anyway, I think it’s true that if I keep playing in tournaments, I need to trim down on what I enter (at majors). Liking the game and throwing money in to support it seems to negatively reflect on the player I guess, which is kinda backwards. If everybody like me stopped entering the smaller games though, there would only be 2-3 games per tournament. It all goes back to money, I think, unfortunately.

The top players had best be nice to you guys when you talk to them, yeah. We all collectively get them there. I wouldn’t be inclined to think they gave a shit about x random person talking to them aside from said obligation, e.g. “oh, better be cool or this dude drops his game and tells 20 other people how shitty the scene is, bye $$$”.

this must have been an eventful trip to the Waffle House

he said something about it too when you were playing mvc3 on the stream, he was also surprised that there weren’t any deadpools in the tourney, and then you played him, so he was happy about that as well.

he didn’t say anything bad though, he just saw that you were up and said “hey, i know this guy, we went to the waffle house together a long time ago…”
