If you guys think the attitude in these threads isn’t consistently hostile-sounding you need a reality check. There’s a reason I don’t post in here much. It’s a shame since everyone is so friendly offline but on here people routinely post like jerks. It’s funny sometimes but I know I’d enjoy reading and posting here more if people weren’t so confrontational. Not saying anybody should transform their posting habits on my account but that’s absolutely how it feels. Anyway, carry on.
Yo UGHH, shout outs to NC. Miss you guys (some homo)
Also, this thread moves FAST. Too fast for me.
I can’t think of anyone that has been met with hostility simply for being new. Yes people get flamed when they show their ass, but to just say that the environment in this thread is consistently hostile with no qualifications is a big stretch.
Pretty much, the only games I can really see going for are Chaos Code, AquaPizza, and KOFXIII, and Melty blood Current code but those last 2 are coming to console soon anyways now :S.
Anyone else here stay in Fayetteville?
It kind of is. The last few times, at least, a new guy has posted and said something kinda cocky he gets attacked and like… idk
man I need more offline practice, I am off 10/11, and 17/18/19, anyone can give me some offline play call me…I am free sand bag and don’t punish jump in that often…
and west, I need play your oni more, xbl oni suck now compare to yours…
Supreme DNA is back, let us all rejoice.
If Lost Ark has a game that is worth traveling to play, I’d be all for it. But I think it’s a bit silly to go “just because it’s an arcade”. I’d much rather travel to jons house which is 15 min away for hours of strong competition and learning, or 2 hours to EZ for … hours of strong competition and learning. Or invite people over my place for hours of strong competition and learning.
Lost Ark doesn’t sound like it would provide near as much - and say it with me … strong competition and learning as our gatherings currently do.
With that said, an arcade/game store sounds awesome and I def plan on making it out there to have some fun. Especially if they get a virtual on machine that would be amazing.
If they get some import cabs i’d be very interested but I do plan to make it out there on trips up to the Charlotte tournament just because it’s on the way there. Always wanna support the local arcade scene
Wow, you guys are special.
Lost Ark sounds cool. Wish people would have some Saturday gatherings.
he’s right you know. You shouldn’t worry about being the new guy. Everybody was new at one time. Just do it and stop making excuses.
Anyway, ggs at EZ tonight. Hopefully I’ll be back sometime for some more Aegis shenanigans lol
Yeah I have a question: What happened to the [S]dude[/S] Dood with the pink font? #120%
-Q
All I want to add is that I personally know several other people that refuse to participate in or even read the NC threads for the same reasons, even though they too enjoy hanging out with basically everyone at offline gatherings. I can only guess at how many people I don’t know that have been intimidated away from posting here.
I don’t want to make it my place to even ask anyone to change their attitude because I certainly don’t want the attention of those attitudes focused on me. But someone brought up the fact that the environment around here seems somewhat hostile in general and I wanted to say I agree. That’s all.
And yeah, I also know a few people who post on Failbook instead of here for the same reasons Trykt mentioned.
Lost Arc can be another Lucky’s. That said, the arcade machines don’t really matter all that much- for the reasons mentioned above. Nice touch to have in the store though.
In fact, with the arcade cabs, it would be a better Lucky’s (no offense to Lucky- who has been AWESOME for years and still is, but he only had that one arcade cab)
I can see Lost Arc being good for like mid-week GSO ranbats in future games.
One question- do they have online connection to the consoles for DLC chars and other things? that would be needed.
I went in there once, and, as a store at least, it’s worth getting your ass down there if you like older stuff, even if the place isn’t going to be a great tourney location (they’d need more PS3 setups, and unsure if they’d have the space for what we need the way Lucky’s does)
What? WHAT? I’m done here. You can’t argue with a bunch of disrespectful elitists!!! PEACE.
Best NC thread ever.
I can think of a few new people who thought they were hot shit that kinda turned into an argument… but I can’t think of any hostility. Unless people are replacing “things I don’t want to hear so I can live in my bubble where I’m top dawg because I beat all my friends” with “this guy is hostile.” Not saying there isn’t any hostility, but aside from the new guys that think they’re awesome getting dogged on, I just don’t see it. If there are some specific examples I might be able to see it halfway, but not at the moment. I like most of the “new guys” (myself still being one, but there are some newer than me), I just don’t care for people who think they’re better than they are, i.e. arrogance. Although I’ve seen plenty of people think they’re better than they were that just didn’t give off a full-fledged vibe of arrogance. So I guess it’s kinda in the same category just not as severe. But it irritates me anyway.
internet was just installed today, so yes.
i just want to clarify that i don’t actually work at lost ark. i’m just a fighting game fan spreading the word. a lot of you are saying that you won’t come out for this or for that, and i understand that. what i’m saying is the owner is open to getting what you would come out for, if the demand is there.
case in point, tonight we actually had a decent crowd playing ST. nothing crazy or anything (8-9 people), but it was nice having the arcade experience again. i don’t know how many of you have been to chinatown fair or other top name arcades, but it’s different, and in my opinion better than playing at home. what also surprised me was the skill level was higher than i thought it would be. there were a few people from winston-salem who played ST regularly on GGPO who were mopping the floor with me. these players were approached by the owner and were asked what other fighters they would like to see at lost ark. again, i know you people won’t drive out for ST, but what WOULD you drive out for?
and for those who’d rather “play at home”, you’re missing the point. we all know what MAME is, the owner especially, but fighting games were born in the arcade. online is NOT the same and it never will be. i play online because i have no other choice, but that might change if we support it.
the responses i was expecting to this were more along the lines of “oh cool, does he have garou?” or “it’d be nice to see a 3S or GGX cab in there.”, but we all know what happened. if you want to know more about lost ark, you can PM me. i’m stepping out of this trainwreck of a thread.
I see more hostility in “I’m stepping out of this trainwreck of a thread” than anything I’ve seen said to a new player in recent memory.
Also, I’ve typed out a big post about the issues with arcades, and Lost Ark, and what people need at a venue for it to be worthwhile to drive to and why people wouldn’t go to a venue, and yadda yadda. I typed it out in different ways like three times. I keep feeling like I’m saying something wrong, or missing a single piece of the puzzle. I’ll let someone else go into it. However, here’s the big question.
What do YOU want out of a fighting game? I could elaborate on the number one answer (to play in tournaments and play people from around the country/world) and also elaborate on some of the other potential answers but… it’s just too damn much for me to type. I’m over-wordy and my post about my issue with going to an arcade that has nothing but is open to get something would just be… a novel. Nothing short of a novel. It would take two full posts I’m sure. Or possibly a Microsoft Word document attachment.
Far be it from me to tell you how to enjoy fighting games. If you like going to Lost Ark to play ST or Jojo or World Heroes 2 or whatever, go for it. But I can’t. And the financial endeavor it would be for the owner to get games I’d play would be one hell of a commitment on his part that I couldn’t agree to match. Because the games people play are only half of why I go to a venue. And I’m going to end it there, because I keep expanding on previous sentences after I’ve told myself I was going to stop. I’ve been typing this shit for like 30 minutes and this is all I have cause I keep deleting it and starting over. I’m done. This is my post on the subject.
