Nash General Thread: Charlie (Nash) finally revealed!

Can’t really say that I hate it, but I’m really used to the Japanese VA already.

His Japanese VA is great.

Nash sounds corny as hell. I’ll stick to the JP voices.

Dunno what it is but SF English voices are always so bad. SFIV was the only game where Eng voices legit annoyed me. Looks like SFV will have the same effect.

Just a match I had today in the beta… Nothing special. Crush Counter forward dash into cr hp hype though!

Ignore this

It seems like they took away a lot of stuff from charlie.

I would like to know the extent of his nerfs.

From what I’ve played they took away some of his anti-airs and his combo potential (nj.HK after teleport no longer juggles). Apparently his Critical Art damage got nerfed as well but I heard it was a universal change.

He is definitely less fun to play in the Gamescom build… Don’t know about the PAX build.

I’m really really unhappy with nashes changes from what I’ve seen and heard, in fact not a fan of this build of the game, hope they strike a better balance.

I was getting great mileage out of v-skill against bison today. I wish I could test it more thoroughly but I was beating out scissors (thrown out in netural, granted) clean. felt fucking good stuffing those (and his c.MP). the animation is sick, too. I just love his v-skill all around. not digging the changes I’ve heard about but as long as v-skill, s.mk, and c.mk are intact I’ll be somewhat happy.

I just wanna know how Cammy got a alt costume before Nash when Nash was the third revealed and Cammy was the 6th. WTF Capcom.

@CriminalUpper they were playing the latest build of the game on WSO today but I didn’t check out too much of it, did manage to hear more lines from English Nash but that was about it. Hopefully when it hits youtube we can see the changes for ourselves if he was even used like that in the session.

Can’t complain about nerfs in the meta build. Still got months away to tell if anything gets altered.

And from the PAX footage, they added a shockwave to V-trigger. And Nash English voice sounds too corny. I did think his grunts and sounds for his specials were fine, but those sentences were blah. Why couldn’t Capcom get a laid back voice. Nash’s whole demeanor is calm and collective, so a more serious voice would have worked.

I love whatever the heck he’s saying in JP when he activates super. I love landing that shit.

Heres the footage of the WSO session. Nash match starts at 48:00

Second part of the session, more Nash in the beginning.

The nash match is when I realized I hated this build, it was painful before then too

In the beta I find it kind of difficult to use Nash’s normals when within cr.mk range. Everything but sweep and sometimes cr.hp whiffs if you’re anywhere but in their face. If it wasn’t for v skill I wouldn’t have a punish option for most things since the moves that do have range start up too slow.

Well with the information from PAX, I think we might want to move away from current Beta knowledge and footage. With no more light to medium and weakened V-trigger, we have to wait for additional stuff to discuss and theorize. I have faith in the character, but I’m a biased chump because Charlie is and always been my favorite SF character.

With the change to combos (Not being able to link lights into mediums). Does this affect Nash’s target combos? Does anyone know if you can still do something like cr.lk, st.lp>mp cancel into SS. This could explain why they changed his v trigger.

Light to Medium was an SFIV mechanic. I think many people forget that. I think getting rid of it gives SFV its own identity. Plenty of past iterations did fine without the light to medium aspect. It cuts down simple meaties combos with low risk/high reward. So I can see why it’s gone. Charlie should be able to do other target combos like st.mp>st.lk>j.hp and st.mk>st.hk (I think).

And I think the warp nerf (since this is a beta, I personally feel it’s tweaking since its part of the development, but nerf is the popular term) because it too felt too much like FADC from SFIV. More people have been more interested in using it for combo extensions than mixup/get-out-of-corner/combo starter. Either that or way too many people are complaining of him being OP and Capcom is playing with weakening it?

His v-trigger got nerfed? What was changed?
