Ok, since they seem bent on delivering SF4 2.0, then give a Charlie that has an 8-2 matchup against Dictator. I may be maining him if he is truly oriented on offense.
ah c’mon man. We saw 3 characters till now. People don’t know how to play SFV, so they play it like SFIV. it’s only natural. We’re in Alpha phase, they’ll change a lot of things in the next few months, so don’t wet yourself just yet
Not feeling Charlie’s new look, and the teleporting just reminds me of Decapre…or a ghetto mugen character. But at least he plays differently than Guile (assuming he’s in).
Bison hopefully won’t look uber whack when he fights. I like Dictator, but his SF4 moveset looks incredibly lame for a dude who harnesses supernatural energy within his body.
XRD removed dynamic lighting because the shadows it cast ruined the sprite-look of the characters. Instead, they baked in the shadows to make it look like how an animator would shade sprites.
Charlie has been my main since Alpha days. He’s the reason I got into Guile actually (sacrilegious, I know). The moment the teaser tailor hit two months ago, I had my main set all over again. Excited for new reveals, but my most prized character is back so I’m set for SFV release without anxiety.
But I never predicted Charlie would return as Shadow, the non-canonical character from the Vs. series. I know I miss Charlie being the boyscout of the SF series in his demeanor and tone (and having his full body parts intact), but I’m stoked for this regardless. Will he be a evil brainwashed puppet like the Vs. series? Or still be his justice seeking self after Bison/Shadowloo/Illuminati, but with more anger and dark tenancies?
He still has his classic one-handed Sonic Booms and some of his normals like that jumping roundhouse, but so much new stuff. Teleports, Rugal Genocide Cutter meaning Charlie’s Somersault Shell gone or made into EX now? His Moonsault Slash from the Vs. series is now included, which I wonder if it can be done solely in the air or from the ground like SFIV Adon’s Jaguar Kick? Or both? And he’s got a tackle maneuver. And Final Mission, his level 3 Shun Goku Satsu-type hyper from the Vs. series is here and damn, it looks simple and scary.
Just got to wait and see. I didn’t see a elemental leveling up from Charlie like Ryu and Chun do in their films where Ryu can charge up from Shinkuu to Denjin Hadokens with electricity and Chun with water. Maybe Charlie doesn’t have those abilities to balance him out? I mean Charlie uses air around him to attack, so maybe that…? Huh, so many theories and excitement!
There is no “air” element. Look at this screenshot. The effects are blue and viscous and splatter all over the place, and visually warps objects in its transparency. One would have to be clinically retarded to look at that and say it’s “air”, but that accurately describes most people who disagree with me anyways.
Seriously… Sony is helping Capcom with funds, sponsoring Capcum Cup AND Evo. USF4 at Evo is being used on PS4s as well. SF5 is neeeeever going to come to Xb1.
People are saying that they can’t see Charlie power up using his EX meter like Ryu has had with his electricity and Chun-Li has had with her water, however I disagree!
If you watch the video and pause it around the 0:53 time… After he throws his sonic boom at Chun, just before he teleports behind her the screen goes dark and a white ring effect explodes out from his feet along with the air/water looking thing surrounding him. This is a similar look as to when ryu and chun-li powered themselves up in the previous trailers so like people have been saying, maybe thats using his EX bars which means people screaming that it’s gonna be OP probably won’t have to worry all too much.
We won’t know for deffinate untill it’s released or we get further information however.
EDIT: The same effect is also seen at 0:56. This could very well just be an animation for the move however it does look similar to when ryu stamps the ground to activate his electricity as I said above.
I really think there needs to be a GRaphics thread, because all this bitching about graphics is just hijacking almost every new thread. We get it, the art style is polarizing, but this is the art direction the game is moving in since SF4
