Another interesting note is that you can hit confirm a jab sonic boom with v-trigger and continue the combo from there. Not in terms of a mix up like in the above video but if the jab sonic boom hits a grounded opponent you can react with v-trigger and finish the combo.

Absolutely, the s.lk, c.mp is a 3 frame gap and combos into s.mp xx SS on counter hit (prob my favorite frame trap atm). If your opponent starts delaying their button press use s.lk, s.hp: a 4 frame gap that leads to CC moonsault combos

back medium kick into tragedy assault is impossible?

yeah B+mk into Tragedy assault is so damn hard for me to do is it worth mastering?

I simply have no idea.
The lack of trials to at least get a bit of an incling as to what tools/combos a character has without having to use training while having a webpage/spreadsheat open and the fact that i have a job now which i didn’t have when SFIV came out, means i made my decision to practice Nash based on a few videos/streams of beta matches and have not really tried out any other characters.

Coming from SFIV as a Cody/Oni/Seth player i do find Nash pretty hard, but i have always had crappy execution so that’s probably just me.

My BnB with those chars in IV were all cr.LK/LP x2 into cr.MP/MK/LK xx special move, so basically hold down for a while while hitting buttons, then moving to fwd or bck and hitting another button.
With nash i have to do c.HP/MP, b.MK xx special move so already i’m out of my comfort zone of just holding the stick down untill i am ready to do the special, and most of the time my timing is so of that instead of the b+MK i was going for turns into a cr.MK because i was too quick with my input for the special move.
However if i wait for b+MK to come out i cannot in a million years complete the QCB/QCF or SRK directions in time to cancel it into a special move.

So to me, Nash isn’t easy at all =P

after the cr.hp you could use st.mp instead of b.mk

Thanks, i figured since people were saying “don’t use st.MP after cr.MP you can get hit out of it on block” the same would be true for cr.HP, but i’m looking at some frame data now and apparenlty cr.HP is a frame more advantage on block so that probably makes a difference.

You don’t actually need lab time to figure out frame traps, just frame data.

Keep in mind that you can trap 3 frame buttons using 3 frame gaps in this game due to the priority system unless there’s a character with a 3 frame medium normal I don’t know about

My go-to frame traps are:

st.LK->cr.MP, on hit st.MP
cr.MP->b.MK x Fireball… I am bad at one-hit confirms, so if I see the fireball hit I will V trigger cancel it if I can
st.LK or cr.HK into anything you want really, st.HP for the crush counter works against characters who dont’ have 3 frame normals

Never really done anything on SRK outside of lurking forever. So here’s the first post.

On day 2 I did some CC testings in the Sim MU. I find that MU to be pretty rough at the moment, so some of these setups / confirms might help.

Also some people might not be aware of the full-screen EX Sonic links that Nash can do @ 1:10
And has a maximum damage combo been confirmed for Nash? The one @ 1:53 is the most I’ve found personally.

^ 4frame frame trap. And because it’s a heavy button and CC, it’s a pretty strong tool.
F.ex. if Ken is mashing HP Shoryu, it will trade with st. HP and grant you a CC hit. You will also get minor hitstun from the first hit of the shoryu, but have enough time to continue comboing from the trade.
I forget if this works on MP Shoryu mashing as well.

Nice find. I like that combo too I didn’t know F.Hp could be thrown in there after a Boom

Did a bit of labwork after seeing that combo.

That combo also works after a blocked midscreen cr.MP. Cr.MP->st.HP has a wide, 5f gap but it’s not a bad option against opponents that used delayed buttons and delayed tech.

In the corner, best V-Trigger followup I could get after blocked cr.HP, CC st.HP xx HP Sonic Boom->f.HP without meter was neutral V-Trigger, cr.HP, st.MP/b.MK xx st.HK Sonic Scythe.

That’s good to know. I didn’t do much testing after trying it on Ryu. Unfortunately, MP (and EX, I believe) Shoryuken will blow through the fireball.

Pretty nice find man, but as @Hatson mentioned, its a 4f frame trap. Theoretically it could get beaten out by 3f jabs so might need some testing, but definitely gonna try to add that to my game ^^

Can you no longer do: HK Sonic Scythe, V-Trigger, HK, MK Sonic Scythe, CA ?

I cant juggle with the MK.SS to CA or was it only in the betas ?
