Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 . The next greatest anime fighting game. Online!

Not trying to be mean, but I don’t think you’re going to be making any friends here if this is going to be your attitude towards people who don’t like a game you supposedly enjoy playing, not that there’s anything wrong with playing this game in the first place.

And we still haven’t played yet, life has been oh so busy lately.

He’s just trying to kick up a shitstorm. Leave it.

If you don’t like the game why do you keep posting? Obviously I’m looking for someone who wants to play. Does that offend you people so much? If you don’t want to play just overlook the post.

So from what I’ve read in the last couple pages of this thread is that this game is bad but how is it if you are a Naruto fan? Is the campaign any good?

As a Naruto fan, this game is the game for you. As a fighting game enthusiast, you might as well look elsewhere.

My brother just bought this game, How is it?

As a Naruto fan I say fuck this game.

This x a billion.

and Leed, just shut the fuck up man. Just coz you like the game doesnt change the fact that its a piece of shit and waste of money. and I can bet that I’ll scrape your ass for free and you’re just full of it.

Talk is cheap. So are we gonna play, or are you gonna keep acting like a tough guy?

The boss fights are epic, that’s about it.

What offends people is your sarcasm toward people who dislike the game. If you “just want to play someone,” then ask “Does anyone want to play?” like anybody else would do. You’re just pissing people off at this point…

Honestly, if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll like the Story Mode. IMO, it was amazing. It has great graphics, cutscenes, and it’s pretty accurate.

I hate to say it but I stop playing this after like 2 weeks an I havent playe 50online matches it was a waste of money the gameplay need more offence stuff idk its boring I do like the clash of ninja gam a little

Thanks for the responses, I plan to pick this up used. Shame the multiplayer sounds like total shit, oh well MvC3 is just around the corner.

I’m so glad to see that I wasn’t the only one who thought these games were shit. I used to get into heated debates with friends over the broken KnJ bullshit, but they would argue that the series had enough depth to warrant it being a great fighting game. Fun fighting game, perhaps. Great? Hell no. I never understood the point of having eight hit combo strings if you could easily escape at any point during the combo for a fraction of chakra.

The GNT games were more balanced imo (though that shit was broken as fuck too, wakeup unblockable supers were retarded, least in the first 4 games), but at least you could only KnJ twice per full super bar.

Seems like things haven’t changed much considering this latest iteration of games. Shame, because the graphics are top notch. Probably one of the best cell shaded games i’ve seen.

One thing I will give this game, however, is the amount of effort put into the graphics and the amount of content in each game. GNT had a notoriously lazy dev team who rehashed almost everything each game, including music, backgrounds, and combo strings.

Next time you guys play, you should stay in one spot, mash the guard buttons and KnJ-confirm into a jutsu or ougi to shut them up

I agree with the combo strings, I mean Naruto has relatively the same animations and inputs for about 8 years now, from GNT1-4, the only changes regarding movesets I recall was Naruto having his b.A go from an Oiroke no Jutsu counter to Kage Bunshin jutsu, Sasuke having his u.B go from a flash kick to his command grab Hayabusa Otoshi, slight tweaks to properties such as Sharingan Sasuke’s u.A crossup teleport being slower, and new supers starting from GNT3. With the EX series however, what bothered me was how characters such as Naruto, Kakashi, Lee, Neji, Gaara, Itachi, Kisame, etc. barely had any changes other from the new terribad engine and physics.

Backgrounds, I have no opinion on, but the music however I have to disagree a bit, at least from GNT1-4 they put in new tracks with every new installment, EX1-3, while it did have some new tracks, some stage tracks were used for TWO stages which is a sign of their laziness. Special, hoo boy, don’t make me go there with their laziness regarding the music. They freaking reused tracks from the Gamecube games, EX and even Ryujinki, that fail of an Adventure game that tried to copy Devil May Cry. I thought this was supposed to be a fresh start from EX? I guess what made GNTSP so “special” was that it didn’t require much work to develop, especially the music. The only new track I recall is the gdlk opening, which was only 30 seconds long.

you guys should post up some videos on this game. I bought it because I heard the Adventure mode was pretty dope(And so far so good). Any strats/tiers/matchups for this game?

  1. Change guard buttons to L1/R1
  2. Stay in one spot during a fight
  3. Mash L1/R1 the entire match, waiting for your opponent to attack you
  4. KnJ-confirm into a grab, jutsu or ougi
  5. Go back to step 2

That’s if you want to be gay however.

UNS2, in a more respectful form however, mainly revolves around supports dealing damage for you. Against smart skilled opponents, you may not be able to pull off a full combo string, especially if they’re good at KnJing and/or have a support on standby ready to bail them out.

The unanimously agreed strategy in this game is to bring an Attack and Balance supports with you. Attack so that whenever you knockback the opponent while Support Drive is activated, your Attack Support perform a Strikeback, dealing additional damage and a chance for you to land a grab, aerial combo, jutsu, ougi, or even a team ougi, depending on what your main character can do.

Balance is also important due to their ability in Support Drive called Cover Fire. Whenever you throw Chakra Projectiles, they’ll come out and throw their Chakra Projectiles too, adding additional zoning pressure to your game. Also if you spam it, your Team Gauge will fill up to maximum quickly, giving you a full bar of Chakra and giving you the opportunity to do a Team Ougi. Another benefit to having a Balance support with is that in the event of getting hit with an ougi, if Support Drive is activated, your Balance Support will take the ougi for you at the cost of not being able to call on them for a while and not being able to perform a Team Ougi.

I personally recommend that your team is a “unique” team, meaning that when you select a team, they should have a unique name such as “Team 7.” The reason being is that they grant higher team bonuses that range from a stronger Team Ougi, faster support reload, to a high filling Team Gauge stat, it depends on each team. But at the end of the day, it depends on what you’re looking for.

Kazuhiro’s list on the different Supports

[details=Spoiler]For anyone that cares.

Format :
[CHARACTER] - [ASSIST MOVE]
[TYPE AVAILABLE]
[TYPE AVAILABLE]
[TYPE AVAILABLE]

* PERSONAL NOTE

By yours truly.

Naruto ? Rasengan
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Typical Rasengan support. A-Naruto is probably the best option here as if it hits, Rasengan launches the opponent which creates a double Strike Back opportunity when you?re in Support Drive mode. Not the best support, but not bad either.

Sakura ? Cherry Blossom Clash
Balance Type

* That support is pretty hard to land but if you do, it creates an aerial chain opportunity after an x-dash. Her Cover Fire in Support Drive mode is nothing special since she throws normal chakra shurikens which are not so good. She?s getting outclassed by A-Kabuto and A-Rock Lee in every way.

Sai ? Ninja Art: Super Beast Scroll
Guard Type

* Throws three painted beast that tracks. It?s a decent support that can be used to zone the opponent out. Its big flaw is that it only has Guard Type as an option, and that?s too bad because the beast does a Strike Back launch when it hits. He?s getting outclassed by most other zoning supports like Gaara and Deidara.

Neji ? 8 Triagrams Palms Rotation
Guard Type

* The definition of defense, really. Kaiten is a pretty good support by itself as it stops anything coming at him and your character can hide behind or in the Kaiten to charge or set up safely.

Rock Lee ? Leaf?s Combo Attack
Attack Type

* One of the best supports in the game because he can be used for so many things. Like in the previous game, he can easily be used as a combo breaker and turn the momentum around. Also, now that Lee gives 3 hits instead of 2 (excluding the launcher hit), he gives you enough time to hit a jutsu or an ougi for big damage. If you don?t have enough time for jutsu/ougi, you can always wait for the launcher to hit and follow with an aerial chain. He doesn?t activate Strike Back, but he is still a great partner to have if you have another Attack support that creates Strike Back.

Tenten ? Ninja Tool: Blasting Sphere
Balance Type

* That support is to pretty much control the space and flow of the match. It prevents chakra dash happy opponents and whatnot. It?s really it?s main utility, and all and all, it?s pretty bad. Her Covering Fire would have been considerable if her chakra shuriken damage output remained the same as the previous game.

Shikamaru ? Shadow Stiching Jutsu
Guard Type

* Long range Shadows that creates automatic knockdown. Can somewhat be used as a combo breaker, but instead of shifting momentum like Lee?s Combo Attack, it resets the flow of the match with its automatic knockdown. It?s also a decent cover when you want to rush in. It has it?s own purpose, but the likes of Lee are just plain better.

Ino ? Detonating Flower
Balance Type

* This support is actually pretty decent. It has some funky tracking capability, but the magic happens when you want to counter other?s projectile jutsus like Fireballs. It rivals most projectiles and in some circumstances, beats them and goes straight to the opponent?s face. It?s by far better as a jutsu than an support, but still viable, I say. Covering Fire is also decent with her as she can poison her opponent with her chakra shurikens. Poison ain?t super good in this game but it?s still a plus when compared to others that throws regular shurikens.

Chouji ? Spiky Human Boulder
Attack Type

* In my opinion, it?s not as good as the one in the first game simply because of the slow startup of the move. However, it tracks pretty decently and he creates its own Strike Back. Meaning that if he hits the opponent and you?re in Support Drive mode, he will be the one striking the opponent back and that creates a double Strike Back opportunity if you have a jutsu that triggers Strike Back and another active Attack support.

Shino ? Hidden Jutsu ? Beetle Sphere
Guard Type

* Don?t ever use this, its ass material. Stay free, Shino.

Kiba ? Fang Over Fang
Attack Type

* Like Chouji, this move tracks decently well and Kiba creates its own Strike back in Support Drive mode which is good. You can also follow up with X-dash into aerial chain when it hits without Support Drive mode, but the fact that the opponent falls at a weird angle does not guarantee the follow up.

Hinata ? Protective 8 Triagram 64 Palms
Balance Type

* Pretty much a weaker version of Neji?s Kaiten support. It has absolutely no advantages over Neji. Her Cover Fire is like everyone else and beside, Guard Type support are usually better than Balance anyway as they can block follow ups to Strike Backs and guarantee and awakening. Use that support if you like seeing Hinata getting bodied by ougis.

Kakashi ? Lightining Blade
Balance Type

* Weak Covering Fire and a weaker version of Rasengan because instead of launching for Strike Back opportunity, it knocks the opponent down. If you want a similar support, go with Rasengan users or pick Killer Bee.

Yamato ? Wood Style: Wooden Mallet
Guard Type

* That thing is bad. So bad.

Gai ? Dynamic Entry
Attack Type

* Similar to the first game except that now, he can trigger Strike Back. Like Kiba and Chouji, he does his own Strike Back because he?s a boss.

Asuma ? Fire Style: Burning Ash
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* B-Asuma is probably the best way to go if you want that support. His chakra shurikens are pretty good, so Cover Fire with him is actually useful, and anyway, I doubt you?ll be able to land the support for a Strike Back. It?s an half ass Fireball that don?t even track and don?t have much range. Also, he doesn?t do his own Strike Back.

Jiraiya ? Rasengan
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Another Rasengan. Both A and B Type are viable here. Cover Fire is good because Jiraiya is one of the few that throws Fuuma in this game. A-Jiraya is pretty much the same as A-Naruto.

Tsunade ? Heaven Kick of Pain
Attack Type

* Same shit as Sakura except that she?s Attack Type. Pretty useless because her move doesn?t create Strike Back and we all know Ground Combo is ass. Use Sakura over her, she will at least give you more support.

[Kirin/TCB] Sasuke ? Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Simple Fire Ball Jutsu - It?s a pretty good assist and can be used for long range or close range pressure. A-Sasuke is good, as usual, because it creates double Strike Back opportunity. B-Sasuke is also pretty good as Sasuke has probably the best chakra shurikens in the game. So, Cover Fire might be helpful.

Suigetsu ? Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Why would someone use that over Fire Ball Jutsu? I don?t know. A-Suigetsu, obviously the best choice because of Strike back.

Karin ? Perfume Spay
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* That character is not good and will never be.

Juugo ? Living Wall Fist: Style One
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* For some reason, this guy throws Fuumas, so I guess Balance Type is viable. Attack Type is also viable because of Strike Back. The move is similar to Rasengan so I wouldn?t really count on it,

Orochimaru ? Snake User Jutsu
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* I like this assist because it has so much range and takes so much space. It also knocks back the opponent so A-Orochimaru is the best choice for this. Best used as a zoning tool more than anything.

Kabuto ? Chakra Dissection Blade
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Probably my favorite assist in the game. He?s a really good combo breaker and like Lee, he launches the opponent in the air for aerial combo opportunity. What I like about that assist is that its pretty fast and straight to the point so, people don?t usually react to it. The blade also takes a huge amount of space which can catch the opponent off guard. One of the few assist I would say go for G-Type because Kabuto doesn?t Strike Back and has nothing special with his chakra shurikens. Unless you really want that big damage and you plan on double Strike back everytime, G-Kabuto will prevent you from eating double Strike Backs yourself. It?s really up to the player?s preference.

Gaara - Sand Tsunami
Guard Type

* Zone material right there. It?s pretty fast and it tracks. If paired with an A-Type assist in Support Drive mode and it hits, the other attacker will be able to Strike Back because it launches.

Kankuro ? Puppet: May Shower
Balance Type[*]I haven?t find any utility to that assist. It used to combo break a lot in the first game. Now, it seems like he lost that ability and always gets bodied before being able to do anything. Balance is the only option here, but it?s pretty good. He throws two Bomb Balls when he covers fire. Will create Strike Back opportunities if May Shower hits.[/LIST]

Temari - Summoning: Blade Dance
Attack Type

* Her?s and Gaara?s assist are kind of similar. Only difference is that Temari?s Blade Dance launches in the air instead of on the ground. I prefer Gaara over her to be honest.

Deidara ? Detonating Clay: Twin Birds
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Arguably the best zoning assist. It uses so much space on the screen which makes it really hard to dodge. The three types are offered but Attack Type is probably the better choice to score Strike Backs from random hits.

Sasori ? Iron Sand Cluster Attack: Six Inch Nail
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Probably the fastest projectile. Only disadvantage it has towards the Fire Ball Jutsu is that it?s not taking as much space than it, but other than that, it?s pretty freaking good. Both A-type Sasori and B-Type Sasori are viable. His chakra shurikens does a pretty nice chunk of damage and are pretty fast (like Temari?s chakra shurikens in the first game), but Attack Type gives you the infamous Strike Back.

Chiyo ? Puppet Performance: Two as One
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* This is another great assist due to his versatility. The assist itself is pretty great as it has range and when it gets to your opponent, it gives about 15 rapid hits ? enough to set up for a jutsu or an ougi. If the opponent KnJs the hits, he will pop out right in the assist again and there, you can set up for a grab or whatever. B-Type Chiyo is probably the best option there because of her chakra shurikens being insanely good. In Support Drive mode, B-Chiyo is your best friend. A-Chiyo is also viable but the odds of getting all the hits and the launch at the end are very minimal.

Hidan ? Soul Hunt
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Best assist in the game hands down. He?s pretty much the Orochimaru (Blade Dance assist in NUNS1) of this game. He can combo break pretty easily and when he does, you probably have time to charge your chakra and ougi your opponent if he still didn?t KnJ the assist. Soul Hunt takes so long to finish that it?s really equivalent to NUNS? combo type assists. If the opponent KnJs Soul Hunt, Hidan will continue to do his move in the air while tracking his opponent which gives constant pressure even if the opponent escapes. The last hit will create a launch, so A-Hidan is the better choice here.

Kakuzu ? Fire Style: Soaring Migraine
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* This jutsu is pretty much CS2 Sasuke?s chakra shurikens which are really really good. It does pretty good damage, creates launch, covers lot of space and tracks pretty well. A really good tool for any playstyle, really. A-Kakuzu is the way to go, in my opinion.

Tobi ? Minefield Jutsu
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Another favorite of mine. This assist is fast and sneaky at the same time. Because he goes underground, players that does not pay attention WILL get hit by that assist and if you?re in Support Drive mode and Tobi has Attack Type, it?s free extra damage. Really good assist to keep pressuring the opponent from afar. The extra bombs he lets on the floor are pretty neat too.

Itachi ? Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Did some testings with this assist?s Jutsu and I noticed that Sasuke?s Fire ball comes out a little faster than Itachi?s, so there?s no real point to have A-Itachi over A-Sasuke.

Kisame ? Water Style: Water Shark Bomb Jutsu
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* This assist is pretty similar to Suigetsu?s except that I think this one doesn?t track as much as the Water Dragon Jutsu. Don?t quote me on that though as they both seem very similar to me.

Konan ? Shikigami Dance
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* This assist can actually be annoying sometimes. When it hits, the tornado takes so much space it can be tough to get out of it. It can be used for zoning purposes and whatnot because it?s tracking is not bad. G-Type or B-Type are probably her best options here because she does not benefit from A-Type at all.

Pain ? Almighty Push
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* The ultimate ??get the fuck out?? assist and it?s pretty freaking amazing. Its start up is almost instant and if it hits, it creates a launch that can cause Strike Back. A-Type - always.

Killer Bee ? Rising Bomb
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* The better version of Kakashi?s Lightning Blade. It has faster startup, does more damage because of the extra 3 hits, and the last hits creates Strike Back launch. Always pick him over Kakashi unless you want to lose.

Minato ? Rasengan
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* See: Naruto

Lars ? Zeus
Attacl Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Zeus is a pretty shitty move. It doesn?t have much range and only launch in the air. It?s better as a jutsu than an assist, in my opinion. His chakra shurikens are really good though, so B-Type Lars might be the best option here.

[Taka] Sasuke - Chidori
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* Kakashi?s assist just with a few more hits. Still pretty bad. Balance assist because rapid fire shurikens are god-like.

[Sage Mode] Naruto
Attack Type
Guard Type
Balance Type

* If you want a Rasengan, go with this assist as it?s pretty much the better version of any Rasengan out there. Both A-Sage or B-Sage are viable. A-Type because this Rasengan is actually good, fast and triggers Strike Back, B-Type because double Fuuma Shurikens during Cover Fire is always welcomed.[/details]

Individual matchups IMO don’t really matter much, since Supports can be used to cover a character’s weaknesses such as bringing Supports such as Sasuke and Kakuzu with Lee to cover his lack of long range options. However as far as individual matchups goes, I will say that due to the game having only TWO initial combo starters, a blocking system where you can simply block everything by holding a button and the dreaded KnJ system, characters with fast initial combo starters, fast grabs, hard to KnJ combo(s), good jutsus, good ougis are those who would have favorable matchups.

Hope this proved useful to you.

EDIT: Holy Shit, why did I spend time typing out an informative post on a broken game like this, must be the Naruto fan inside of me lol. You better give me positive feedback for this if this was useful for you.

Well I actually just checked out a trailer for GNT special since you informed that there even was a new one. One I saw Anko perform the same bullshit combos she’s had since GNT3 I knew I was over this shit for good  I can’t believe they even had the gall to reuse the same tracks from the gamecube versions, fucking christ. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a lazier dev in any game series.

@Ichipoo

I think your take on the support list was ok, but you left some stuff out. Firstly, there seems to be some sort of way to get all support types for all characters because Sai can only guard on my list, but for story mode fanatics, which I guess is where you earn this option, there’s a way to make him selectable with at least the balanced option. I know this is possible because I fought a Sasori player using Sai and Chiyo as balanced supports (the kunai were never ending). Oh and…

[spoiler=]Naruto has the fastest starting rasengan, but Sage Naruto has the best tracking and the slowest start.

Some characters can be called from the air giving them near instant startup which is good for countering ultimates or combos after strikebacks:
Sakura-fast

Tsunade-fast

Sasori-still **extremely **slow, but you didn’t mention that his attack shoots two projectiles instead of one like fireballs. Doesn’t hit anyone too close.

Itachi-fast, and the reason people would choose him over Sasuke, who can’t be called from the air. Again This fireball doesn’t hit anyone too close.

Pain-fast

Choji-Instant, yeah there’s no wait time at all for his move if called in the air, but he doesn’t travel across the board; he just falls and moves a few feet (trying to conceptualize space dimensions). That’s it for the air calls.

Sai’s lions each have fireball status. So a ground fireball would only cancel one lion.

Hinata’s rotation has a little more range than Neji’s especially during the final hit. However, his starts faster.

Without the support drive additional attack it’s **impossible **to air combo after Kiba’s support attack. Your opponent falls immune to everything, including fireballs.

The attack timing on Kakashi’s chidori is different from Sasuke’s. The same goes for Jiraiya’s, Minato’s, and Naruto’s rasengan. If all of them dropped simultaneously and attacked, they would all leave their starting positions at different times. So knowing when to jump over them could be tricky depending on which you expect.

Asuma does do his own strikeback on attack assist (sorry if I read that wrong). His smoke lingers at mid/close range; so if he doesn’t hit at first, it still has a chance of hitting a second later.

Suigetsu’s and Kisame’s attack has way better tracking than a fireball. They can even hit you while very close to them in the air (not too close, though).

Karin’s perfume spray inflicts status changes (speed down, defense down, and poison). The most important one, IMO, is defense down. If you couple that with an attack boost, Tsunade’s for example, then two throws take a **full **tank of health!

Killer Bee’s attack doesn’t cover half as much ground as Kakashi’s, but it has way better tracking.[/spoiler]

I thought they did a good job giving players reasons to chose almost any assist character, except shino. I still haven’t found a use for him.
