Exactly. The only thing in the chapter that was worthwhile were the last few pages. Madara is going after Naruto. Got it. The backstory of Pain’s group was pointless and bad filler.
So someone remind me of the sage’s 6 paths that we know of, this manga be going off irrelevant tangents sometimes; Sharigan path, Senju path, Renengan path? what else/corrections?

Yeah, it’s obvious Kishi doesn’t really give a damn about Naruto anymore. Wouldn’t be surprised if he put Naruto on turbo so that way he can get rid of it once and for all.
This chapter is alright. The flashback were nice but it is kinda repetitive tho.
The mask only has two eye holes, the contour of the middle top is drawn differently to not show depth. In the other two, you can see they’re actually cut out and they’re holes. Seems like the fight went on for awhile with Konan. Somehow I think Naruto’s foot is probably still hurt
Flashback kinda sucked. I don’t care about their childhood. They are dead. Move on.
The last few pages were good. Madara is targetting Naruto directly now - and he’s comin for dat ass with prejudice. Hopefully we get some good chaptage after this off week. (And WTF Kishi working on one-spot baseball manga shit. bitch needs to finish Naruto first instead of giving us halfassed chapters so he can work on his boyhood fantasies.)
I concur with everyone about the flashback redundancy. The chapter was one of the most morbid I’ve ever read. All these dead people, necro-eye-steal, and redundant flashbacks did not make for an interesting chapter.
And J was KILLED by these same idiots (his students), so there is a part of me that won’t allow me to sympathize with Konan. They are being painted out to be good guys, but for years we’ve been fed to believe that they were evil. And they ARE evil… So where’s the congruency Kishimoto???
They’re not evil. One of the main points that kishimoto has been trying to drive is that with a few noted exceptions, none of the main antagonists are evil by the conventional sense. Itachi, Madara, Pein, Konan, Kisame, etc are not evil. If you still don’t get that you need to reread the manga until you do because you’re missing something major.
Well, Madara’s kinda evil. Motherfucker wants to enact the shinobi version of the Destiny Plan from Gundam SEED Destiny. 
If we take what he’s said at face value it’s to end wars. The goal is far from evil and if we start saying that he’s evil because the ends don’t justify the means then 99% of the manga is evil. The only ninja in the naruto world who haven’t killed for less are the the members of Naruto’s generation and that’s because most of them haven’t had a chance.
Orochimaru was pretty fucking evil any way you slice it.
Hence the “noted exceptions.” Orochimaru, Hidan, Sasori, Kakuzu, and Deidara were all evil by the traditional sense. Out of them though, the only one that was a relevant antagonist is Orochimaru.

No this chapter wasn’t all action or any big reveals, but it shows something important…that these dude aren’t all bad, and lik I alread said, it further explains why Pein ‘retconned’ himself upon facing Naruto. It’s sorta tying into a theme/motif mentioned earlier - that its the system that raises ninjas that has some sort of issue…these guys are often tied together by something common, yet it’s a singular series of twisted events that completely paints them something different. It’s Gaara and Naruto again…the tailed beast, now its Naruto and Pein - “The destined ones”…both grew up with no parents, both were shown tremendous care and love by those close to them, the difference was merely setting - Konoha was large prosperous, and relatively war free by the time Naruto came along - while Pein came up during hard times in a hard place. That difference created someone percieved as a bad guy to the reader (at first), but starting with how the people in Mist feel about Pein - up tothe recent backstory - its become fairly obvious he wasn’t a bad guy from not just his angle but in general.
We also learned Konan isn’t a virgin…maybe thats what makes vags useful.
