DB to DBZ shows the defeat of piccolo by goku and how he has a grudge against him to the point of him not having a problems killing both Goku and raditz, to the growth of piccolo and him learning to care for someone. Aliens invade in dbz but its no different from goku falling from the sky at the start of DB, it also explains why goku is the way he is and what happen so that he didn’t finish his mission… 
Naruto is a much more complex and interesting Anime than DBZ IMO. The different characters and Their use of ninjutsu, genjutsu, the five elements, summoning techniques is more complex than DBZ where everyone just had some generic fight style and fired energy blast at each other. Not to mention the ninja ranking Tiers…
Hokage, Junnin, Genin, Sannin ANBU, Medical Ninja etc…
Naruto storylines are also deeper not just because of individual storylines but because of how they all tie together through out the entire series or saga.
the point isn’t the db and dbz aren’t connected, it’s that they have a completely different plot line, while pre shippuden to shippuden is still the same plot line.
So Naruto sprains his ankle.
Then Yamato makes a brace for him…

Oh wait, so that Gai can die using the last gate first, only for Kisame to survive and then Naruto uses Sage Mode + Rikudou Mode to heal himself and goes forth to curbstomp him like what should have happened.

Guy has no problem popping gates I see… Isn’t there a drawback to doing that? Like shorten lifespan or something?
It was said early on that opening all the gates can kill you…and the risk increases as you get to the 8th gate…

I guess you didn’t see my last post, and shippuden is justa time skip where nothing happen. So yeah naruto to shippuden is the same plot line and has been since sasuke left.
The new naruto game looks sick tho, I love the way they represent the characters.

Love the first Nin storm, this one looks like it’s about time we get a Naruto game that is somewhat current with the manga. Especially Sasuke with Kirin, Amaterasu, etc.
I just can’t wait to go Sage mode on my fam!! And Killa B Nice. I might have to keep my Pain av for a lil while longer…lol.
