WEll, the 1st didnt have Eye pew pews (or not that we’ve seen) so I could believe this. The 1st was able to subjugate ALL of the tailed beasts without any special eye doujutsus. Interesting theory.
He may not have had any special eyes, but he still had abilities that were technically tied to Rikudou Sennin’s bloodline. Both he and his wife.
If my assumption proves true, to the best of our knowledge, Rikudou Sennin didn’t have any special abilities when he sealed the Juubi away. Which is why I’m thinkin’ somethin’ crazy had to be involved with the way he whittled down the Juubi’s power, or the sealing technique itself.

Didn’t he use that jutsu to create the moon to capture the Juubi? Shinra Tensei (or whatever… not gonna look right now) Considering Nagato had access to that jutsu, it can be assumed that that may be a Rinnegan jutsu, which would suggest Rikudou Sage had Rinnegan when he captured Juubi.
Not an air-tight assumption at all, but I’d lean that way, personally.
I’m mobile right now, so I can’t check. But if I remember correctly, Rikudou Sennin used Chibaku Tensei to seal away the Juubi’s physical remains after splitting up it’s chakra, right before he passed away.
Could it be the case that moon’s eye plan was a technique to help seal away the Jyuubi via massive amounts of Pew Pew? Anywhere else that Madara could have gotten the idea?

And the “it’s golden week” has been thrown out numerous times over the course of a year as to why we didn’t get a volume a certain week. So if it is once a year, a lot of people are wrong about what week is golden week, unless I’m missing out on a big inside joke.
