You forgot the fact that he had a kid with him strong enough to be hokage the next day and Danzou, and a good mix of Konoha ninjas, wasn’t there a hyuga or an uchiha there too, and he decided that the best plan was for him to run in alone and die. There were, in theory, 3 hokage level nin in that group and this dude couldn’t come up with a plan to take tou 20 ANBU, that is fail on an epic level.

well the 2nd hokage probably was still stronger than tsunade. dude knew edo, but his level at it must have been worse than oros, who in turn now is crap compared to the level that kabutthole can do edo. his teleporting probably sucked more than the 4ths as well, which in turn sucks more than madaras. even if the 2nd could use all these tricks, the level at which he could use them was sub bar probably. never has it been stated that he was THE edo man or space man. he was somebody who could use these techs, on a level better than most, or more like most couldnt use them. but all the people who can use the same tricks hes got, can use them better than him. what he does have going for him though, is even if the level of his techs was lower, he was still able to use edo, and teleport. which automatically makes him kage level and stronger than tsunade.
also on that group of 20 peeps, werent they a special known group of people from the cloud vilage? in fact werent they legenday? if i had to make a guess, young A & B where probably part of the team as well. one is a jinchuuriki, the other the future raikage. who knows what kind of beasts where in that group, nidaime got owned cause that group isnt anbu scrub material, but actually a force to be reckoned with. i doubt any kage, besides the 1st with all his pokemons or the 4th would have stood a chance against them. and i just mean stood a chance, not win. well the 1st with all 9 of his pokemons would probably have obliterated them to be fair. dude was stronger than all countries combined, some countries only had 1 pokemon, dude had all 9 in his possesion, making him the greatest kage ever at that time. before he gave the presents away that is.

the way i see it is that nidame probably laid the foundations of techniques like edo tensei and the jik?kan ninjutsu while orochimaru, kabuto and minato developed them much further later on. just like naruto did with rasengan. you know all “the new generation surpassing the old” jazz.

The reason for that is because the Uchiha Clan didn’t want to fight anymore. If they did, I’m sure things wouldn’t have went down like that.
I agree 100%, however - someone with the skill to develop space/time jutsu + zombie jutsu + water formation jutsus - should be strong enough to take down another village’s ANBU…serisouly…there ios just too much potential, even on an under developed scale for him to suck that much…don’t forget - we are talking ANBU here…I had to bow to BJ’s logic…the Second had some issues. Maybe he had siezures from bright light flashes so he died to random ass jutsu’s with explosions and shit. shrug
