Naptown Clash II: New Generation's Giant Attack! Gameworks, Indianapolis. 2/21/2009

Mike you are too nice with your pricing. You were going to let your stick go for 50 and now you’re letting that ps2 of yours go for 100!? Damn thats a good deal!

Also, I’d like to change my vote, although I’m aware that I can’t technically re-vote in the poll. I say leave Akuma AND Seth in the tournament. I’m finding out more and more everyday about these two, and as much as people hate to hear it, they aren’t as god-like and unbeatable as everyone thinks. So, yeah: I say leave 'em in.

Yessir

I don’t think the votes can be changed.

Yeah, I know. lol But, I think you guys should just weigh the evidence for and against Seth. Instead of just using the “He’s a boss character” argument, check out some of the recent YouTube vids and things like that. I was telling Indy about some of his stuff. Here’s what I’ve gathered from various sources, both visual and verbal:

**1. His Sonic Boom has a Hadou-motion – AND Hadou-recovery. This means that it’s not nearly as fast as Guile’s.

  1. His command grab has pretty atrocious range. From what I’ve seen, your opponent pretty much has to be point-blank.

  2. His vacuum special actually consumes meter.

  3. He takes horrible, horrible damage and stuns after very few hits.

  4. He inflicts very little damage when compared to the rest of the cast.

  5. The damage from his Ultra has been toned down considerably. **

Now, I’m not saying that I want anyone banned, but if I had to choose I’d say that people should be less worried about Seth and more-so about Gouken:

**1. His standard Hadouken can be thrown at 3 different angles (a la Urien/Gill) and can be charged for an additional hit – for no meter expenditure

  1. He has a counter move that acts almost instantly. There is footage of him blocking the first hit of Guile’s cr. HK sweep and reacting with the counter input before the second hit comes around.

  2. He has a special in which he passes forward through fireballs cleanly, and hits his opponent with a knock-down. Both the normal version and the EX version have this property, however, I believe the EX version hits twice.

  3. His backwards throw launches his opponent high up over his head, giving him more than ample time to land his Ultra or, if he doesn’t have an Ultra, his super.**

Because Seth and Gouken are the characters that I’m calling into question, I figured I’d provide some actual in-game footage for you. Three things: notice at 1:52 and 4:00 how much damage Seth takes from Gouken’s combos, at 2:24 how pitiful the damage is on Seth’s Ultra despite being done out of his launcher, and at 4:05 how little it took to stun Seth. Bon apetit, gentlemen :wgrin::

Jesus you weren’t kidding, Seth takes damage like a little girl. I’m seriously reconsidering the ban against him now.

This is why no one should be banned yet.

Yeah I got into a discussion with Quan about Seth, and now I take back my vote, he has a lot of stuff going against him imo.

Also, I have a proposition. Would anyone be willing to do a 3on3 for 3s? The Dayton crew is thinking about getting a hotel, (I know I want to) so we can be there late, so I’d love to throw something like this together. Maybe team Dayton vs. team Indy vs. Team Cinci etc. etc. That is if anyone is willing to stay late, or we could possibly run it at our hotel room if anyone’s interested. $5 entry and everything! Is anyone interested?

P.S. to Sado: Bring Yung man, I wanna see the red Urien BEAST :wgrin:

i dunno if im down for this…we dont really play 3s anymore and i dont even know if we will have 3 3s players there…might just be me and kodi

3 on 3 would be awesome.

neon geon: It doesn’t have to be anything serious, just have some fun with it.

When do you wanna have another Cinci gathering? I know you were saying a bit before the tourney, I’d say the weekend before if possible. SF4 won’t be out by then though sadly.

It doesn’t matter to me. He looks like he’s the Remy of SF4.

Official ending of SFIV: You get to Seth getting nothing but perfects…then Urien runs in and yells, “THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!” and proceeds to chop Seth’s head off. With this act he gains the Chariot tackle and becomes the Urien we know today and then he starts percolating as the Subway music from 3s plays.

ya it prob would be but still it might just be me and kodi comin and he doesnt play 3s at all…but if i can get 2 more ppl from cincy to come that play 3s im down

well thats valentines day and im sure the lady will wanna do something fancy pancy so thats not gonna work so it would have to be the weekend before that which is the 7th which is still like 2 and half weeks away. if you guys can come it will prob be the same deal as last time

I would be willing to play on someones 3 on 3 team for 3s.

Better yet, random SF4 team tourny for the win.

Are you talking random characters or random teams?

Let’s do this shit blindfolded. How’s that for random?

I’m in, blindfolded SF4. I’d do a team tourney for SF4 though, fo-sho.

Blindfolded with a navigator! Now thats a tournament idea. Oh and your buttons are randomly reassigned on random time intervals.

And everyone’s on fire during their match. Winner gets put out while loser has to do it themselves.

oh and we light off fireworks from them being on fire as well.

That’d be an event talked about for years imo.
