10 year old morrigan sprite plz!
actually I’m glad its not a fighter, after shite like svc and jam i’ve been losing interest, an rpg style game sounds cool.
monolith are just one of the many dev teams within namco, its still their game

You’re so right. I mean come on, having the wrong guy say hadoken would have just doomed this game to failure  .
this is great. I am really surprised it ain,t a versus fighter. At least its something new we are getting!
WTF?! Production I-G is doing the opening animation sequence? Being a huge Ghost in the Shell fan, I’m glad see them doing the opening animation sequence. Now I wonder who will voice Chun-Li? CvS2 Chun-Li voice actress Michiko Neya or Atsuko Tanaka (3s Chun-li / Kusunagi from Ghost in ethe Shell)
I’m glad they didn’t bring back the 3s actor, ugh. Sadly Chun-Li in this game is the same voice as 3s. I wish they’d bring back her Alpha voice…
i like the twist on the having two franchises work on a game but from reading the english news letter i’m confused to even see why it’s even called namco vs capcom. it’s not a fighter and your not even using like Strider as your main character. this is a Kingdom Hearts rip off.
I think this will sell well.
Tales characters are in it. I’m sold.
i hope namco puts richard miller in. that would be so badass.
agreed!
is this even real? it sounds too good to be true, and im sold. if it is real when will it come out anyone know? i can hardly wait
Yep, hell they even ripped off the map, the sprite style, the intermission/dialogue sequences and even the battle mode style and design.
I think Banpresto probably had a hand in helping out Monolith Soft with this one, considering that both Capcom and Namco have been developing the Gundam arcade games for Banpresto.
like the article says, it’s a codename
art looks cool. in game screen shots are straight. i hope its like mario rpg or something.
Edit
haha. i dont care about this…i just hope they use the sprites later on to make a pocket fighter sequel or something, i dunno. would be kinda hot. namco vs. capcom pocket or some shit.
Specs speaks the truth.
Btw, an SRPG? Wouldn’t it be easier, and much cooler, slap Tales of Rebirth/Tales of Symphonya Battle System to let players feel some action?
I swear, after playing those and Star Ocean 3 any new gen turn based RPG appears in a new light…a light of suck.
yeah, i really don’t want to play another strategy rpg. i don’t like em to be honest. its like you use on main character, you don’t visit and buy stuff from other towns, etc. just make it like a mario rpg or something and have it be hot. a star ocean 3 style sounds hot. i’d go with that if i made this game.
Namco x Capcom is using the SRW engine.
SRW >>>>> all of you.
The are drawing a f****** NEW Morrigan sprite!!!

Popular Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu has announced a game that should be of high interest to the hardcore set – Namco x Capcom. That’s “Namco cross Capcom”, by the way; “cross” in this sense is typically used in Japan to denote collaborators on equal footing. Rather than the expected fighter, however, it’s a strategy RPG featuring matchups between characters from both companies’ wide catalog of games.
While the announcement may come out of left field, it has an excellent pedigree: Monolith Soft, creators of the Xenosaga series and Baten Kaitos, is working on the title.
All appearances point to a slight divergence from the developers’s bread-and-butter epic RPGs thus far. Exhibiting a style in line with the Japan-only Super Robot Wars series, the game is a strategy RPG featuring 3D environments, 2D battle graphics, and splashy anime artwork.
While most characters are fresh, the two leads are original to the game: a young man with a streak of white hair and a large golden gun, and a blonde girl with a staff. Otherwise, the known roster goes something like this:
KOS-MOS (Xenosaga series, PS2)
Mitsurugi (Soul Calibur series, various)
Stahn Aileron (Tales of Destiny, PS1)
Rutee Katrea (Tales of Destiny, PS1)
Valkryie (Valkryie no Densetsu, arcade)
Wonder Momo (Wonder Momo, arcade)
Bravoman (Bravoman, arcade and TurboGrafx-16)
Jin Kazama (Tekken series, various)
Klonoa (Klonoa series, various)
Capcom characters:
Demitri Maximoff (Darkstalkers series, various)
Morrigan Aensland (Darkstalkers series, various)
Strider Hiryu (Strider series, various)
Ryu (Street Fighter series, various)
Chun-Li (Street Fighter series, various)
Arthur (Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts series, various)
Bruce MacGavin (Resident Evil: Dead Aim, PS2)
Regina (Dino Crisis series, PS1)
Other Namco and Capcom characters have already made cameos, and it’s clear that there are more to be revealed. What isn’t clear, however, is whether Namco, who’s publishing the title in Japan, intends to bring it to the U.S. Hopefully we’ll hear more soon.
I thought the X stood for ‘by’ like the Manga/Anime ‘Hunter X Hunter.’ In that instance it means - ‘Hunter by Hunter’ or so I was told.
