Goemon rules so hard. Great job on fitting all that in!
[edit] ruined the page snipe. Let’s say on topic then. Look what I won a couple of days ago:

Hurry up and give me a fukken invoice, SMJ, I want this shit ASAP.

I was watching that auction but I decided against it. Glad to see it fall into good hands, though!
I prolly won’t have any luck but I’m hoping to score a Namco for cheap. Can’t afford to spend much as a student.
I’ve got three on the way from Japan, including that box set, and I’m probably only going to keep one. Keep your eyes on the Marketplace…
where are you guys finding these things?
where can I go to see Japanese auctions for these?
Yahoo! Auctions Japan.
Yo meus, you don’t check your private messages that often huh? I can’t maintain without the T3-stick man.
And awesome collection of Namcos also.
A quick question for the avid Namco users: how hard would it be to swap button functionality? I want to have R1 and L1 on the face instead of R1 and R2 because the Tototek adapters map the main buttons for Genesis and Super Nintendo to those shoulder buttons instead.
You can probably wager from the wording of my question that I am not very familiar with electronics work. With that in mind, could this be pulled off and if so which methods would be best? I’m guessing you could just snip wires and solder them back together (note: I have never soldered but if it’s the best way to keep the connection then I’ll give it a try, probably practice on some Atari joysticks first) but maybe it’s not that simple?
Any information is appreciated, thanks!
Quite a bit of work actually. You’d have to desolder the buttons from the main PCB; solder wires from the four “face” buttons to the PCB;, take the PCB strip (with the start, select L1 and L2 buttons) and strip the coating covering L1 connectors; solder wires from the L1 connectors to the former R1 push button; then solder the R1 PCB to the former R2 button; finally, you’d have to find a place to put the PCB so that it won’t touch the metal panel on the bottom. After this mod, your R2 button won’t work unless you can find a replacement push button which fits the old L1 slot that uses a micro switch.
Hm, in that case, maybe it would be easier to mod the Tototek adapters? It’s a small area to work with but I could try opening one and taking pictures if that would help. Plus it’s probably better to butcher the cheaper thing.
Here’s a link to it:

There’s no screws on it but there’s some tabs that could be pushed in possibly to crack it open, no idea if it will stay together after that but it’s worth a look. Would anything like that be feasible?
Thanks for the information so far, sucks to hear it won’t be easy. But if anybody in the North Dallas area is handy with this kinda thing and wants some extra money then maybe we should meet up.
The button mapping on the ToToTEK is going to be programmed in the PCB. I’d be surprised if there’s anything you can do with it cracked open.
Haha, yeah I definitely couldn’t, and if it’s all programmed into that PCB then I guess it’s up to Tototek support on whether or not it’d be possible. I e-mailed them about it but don’t expect much of a response. Damn, sounds like I’m downright screwed for the time being. Bummer.
Any other ideas? I guess my only options are to look into different sticks for the time being, which is too bad because these are very awesome controllers. I really wanted to play Killer Instinct and Turtles Tourney Fighters with them!
EDIT: I forgot that Turtles Tourney is 4 buttons, so that much is still okay. There’s probably some other SNES fighter I’m neglecting ATM that wasn’t done better on another console but if I’m only missing out on KI that’s not so bad. I’d still like to have the 6 buttons available some day on the face but I’ll just have to bide my time for that one it looks like.
Does KI allow you to remap the buttons in-game? You may be stuck if not. It’s going to be a very challenging task remapping the buttons on the stick.
Everything that came in the ebay auction lot I won http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320485982324&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Fortunately, it does, and it works great with the 5 face buttons I have access to and the stick makes everything way easier. It just sucks being so close. :wasted:
I think I’d only need to switch L1 and R2 to make these Tototek adapters fully functional for most of the games I play (only got the Genesis, SNES, and Saturn adapters). Even Sega Saturn has problems as some of the Vs. Series games won’t let you remap the L and R buttons. I got a bad Dreamcast adapter from Play-Asia as well, but the other one I ordered in a pair worked perfectly. They’re replacing that, fortunately, but my luck with adapters so far has not been great.
coolsteel, that’s a damn huge load you picked up! I can’t even identify what half of that stuff is! :wasted:
I recognize some things like custom PlayStation to RGB adapters, but those bare PCBs I don’t know what they’re for!
The two long PCB you do not know are PlayStation Power Supplies.
LOL Just call it trash which is where that half of the stuff will end up. I was expecting the sticks to be in horrible condition but they really aren’t that bad. So any bets as to what this will go for? http://cgi.ebay.com/namco-ps2-joystick-as-is-hori-tablet-as-is_W0QQitemZ220557373953QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item335a3e7201
Missing a button? That’ll destroy it’s value! I’ll say $60! (WARNING TO THE SUPERSERIOUS: THIS POST HAS BEEN A JOKE)
Actually, I was hoping the price on that would stay down because I really just need a namco shaft. I doubt that’ll happen though.
