so unless one of the pending californian grad schools i’ve applied to will be offering me acceptance plus some form of tuition/research assistantship, i’ll be heading out to oregon state for grad school sometime this summer.
now I don’t want big Mike to have to resort to playing 3D for the rest of his days in minnesota, so we’ve GOT to do something about the competition here, folks. it seems like I am the only person who would show up at early times in the morning (when i do show up)… and it seems like i’m the only person who’s still interested in 3S and street fighter, in general. it seems that everybody else wants something else, such as ggxx or 3D or something. now Stefan doesn’t usually show up until late, and Rob doesn’t stay for too long since he’s got booty-calls to answer to. and we’re the only 3 regularly showing folk.
the minnesotan scene seems to be dying hardcore ever since Z traitor left ^_~
i’m pretty worried here since if big Mike stops playing SF after i leave, Mike Z would WALK over to piney oregon to personally kick my ass for letting it happen
so bottom line is this: does anybody else have ANY connections to other people even remotely in this area who’d replace some of the slowly leaking-away SF players? i mean, it’s bad enough as it is that big Mike only gets quasi-regular SF competition for long stretches at a time from a shitty player like me, but when i’mma gone, he won’t even have 1-star player to beat up on.
feedback? ideas? somebody contribute some ideas. i don’t want to come back in a couple of years to see big Mike on the side of the road playing 3S theme songs on his electric guitar sighing about the golden days
I dont have any ideas about MN players…but I do know that I am back in town for this week, and I want to play some SF!!! So get your asses in gear and make a gathering happen this week!

There’s a good chance Wes will be there on Saturday. If you guys want to set something up midweek please do and I’ll try and make it.
OK, let’s do a midweeker at my place on Wednesday evening. We’ll start at 6:00 and plan on going until about midnight. Let me know if that works for everyone (Frank, bMike, Rob and yes, even you Maobei - I expect you to be able to drop your “studying” for a few hours).
As for Saturday, I may have to just come early and then leave to watch the Final Four - go Illini! The game(s) might be finished early enough for me to come back afterwards, and I’m not sure if I really need to watch the NC/MS game which comes on after the Illinois game.

I’m definitely up for some AE action. I’ll stop by Target or Best Buy or something and pick up CFE so we can do some of that. It’s pretty cheap and we should probably be at least familiar with the game at some point.
CFE…? Don’t they not play that anywhere? FFA had 2 CFE machines, one which was converted from 3s and one which was new. First they were 50 cents, then 4 days later they were 25 cents. Now, the one that was 3s is 3s again, and the one which was new is off.

CFE is the shit…LOL! That game is too funny, and frustrating, and slow, and etc. etc. etc…since noone plays it…lol…seems as though the people in the shitty midwest like to play that game, so when there’s no more AE action and 3s, they turn to that game, and actually there was a 30 person turnout for that POS game in OHIO last month…So I figured I might as well give it a shot and see what it was all about…Mike, I play Bison, Guile, Gief, Ryu, Sakura, Demitri, Anakaris…Stefan, you don’t have to pick that game up if you don’t want too…I was just throwing that out there because I really don’t have any interest in playing CvS2 anymore and 3s gets boring after a while…
Well, I picked CFE up and played it for about 2 hours. It seems like they just took a bunch of capcom games, took everything fun out of them, toned parries down and burned it on a disc as soon as they could. It’s not terrible to play just for fun, but as a serious game, and especially when compared to any good game capcom has released, it sorta sucks. Things don’t seem to buffer correctly, and the control seems just a bit slow (not in the way that DC 3s was slow). In addition, besides throwing in the Dinocharacters, there’s nothing new in CFE that hasn’t been done better in another game.
Comparing CFE to most other 2ds is like comparing a microwave burrito to a burrito from Chipotle. If all you’ve ever known is microwave burritos, then they seem to taste just fine. However, once you’ve tasted Chipotle, the microwave burrito seems to taste like crap (at least until you literally taste poop cough MK4,5&6 cough).
The only thing that I find really bad with CFE is that there are too many abusable moves that a lot of characters can’t do anything about…But, all in all, the hit stuns are really fast, so buffering moves needs to be done alot faster than before, but there are some things about the game that others in the future can take from…Maybe after you play someone who knows how to play it, you might see that it’s not as slow as you might think it is…
yeah buffering is MAD fast. short short super is way fast. people should practice buffering in that game to work up muscle.
