"My Spider-sense is gone :(" The UMVC3 Spider-Man Change Log Thread UPDATED!

What do you guys think of Frank West as an anchor for my Spider/Strange team? I don’t really like Frank West much, but that shopping cart is just waaay too good! :smiley:

Tried Hawkeye (and I really like him!), but things would be great until people got too close. It turned out (for me at least, or maybe I just sucked too much with hawkeye :stuck_out_tongue: ) that the team was too focused on zoning. I’m not really a zoning player, even though I seem to pretend to alot :P. I’m all about the rushdown. And Spidey didn’t get much out of arrows in bad matchups like Sentinel drones assist or vs. teleport-and-move-spam Vergils

I’m glad people here are loving this version of Spidey. I am too :smiley: He got aped out of his damage, and consequentially, kind of loses a little ground as a battery character, but he is just TOO MUCH FUN with his new tools. Hopefully, later on I can try some of the new technology you guys came up with; thank you guys

I don’t really know to much about Strider, and I only know a friend who plays Skrull, but I’m gonna make a suggestion anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you think about making Strider the anchor and putting Skrull in second?

I’m assuming that, while both Strider and Skrull can be meter hogs, Skrull is not quite as meter dependent, or at the very least, a better battery. Plus Strider has that XF3 Oroboros that everyone’s scared of, right? Wouldn’t Strider make better use of the speed and strength boosts of XF3 too?

I might be wrong though.

Real talk guys, this thread shouldn’t really be used any more. I’m not knocking on anyone because I’ve been dumb and posting everything in the wrong place too, but there is a spidey team thread, and a spidey setups thread that I feel should be used much more now that the game is out.

I’ll still comment on that team though.
Spidey/Skrull[idk which assist, possibly tenderizer for otg web zip combos]/Strider [vajra homing kick]

Spidey can sort of control space better on his own now, though I do like beams/projectile assists. Strider’s is alright, but hard to spam because it’s easy to hit strider out of it and he has low health, but it is good in certain situations. Tenderizer can be used for some combos and even for lock down in some cases.

Homing kick assists causes airborne opponents to go OTG (not ground bounce as far as I know, if it is, it’s really brief) so both Spidey and Skrull can pick up after. I haven’t extensively tried out a post-antiair vajra combo yet with spiderman but I am certain it is possible. With Skrull, just do j down H and go from there.

Inferno is a good dhc from max spider. strider doesn’t have good dhc’s after skrull’s though.

skrull likes meter for random meteor smashes to supers, and strider also likes meter. that’ll be tough to manage, but eh.

Hmm, this may sound odd, Cerei, but what if you ran it as Spidey/Skrull/Strider? Kajoq and I have been helping a friend improve his Strider team (Doom/Sentinel/Strider… he really likes Clockwork, LOL) and it appears as if that not only does Strider take the most advantage of Lvl 2/3 X-Factor and tons of meter, but isn’t nearly as effective without it.

You guys might be on to something. Tenderizer as an assist doesn’t sound well with this team at all because of the scaling. Both Spiderman and Strider already have scaling problems. I was thinking Stone Smite because even though it’s useful to have, Spiderman’s otg is like 2nd worst in the game. Still, if the situation ever presented itself, Stone Smite isn’t really beneficial to Strider at all. So orbital grudge might be my best bet.

All the Strider info given is completely valid. I’m just in a bad mindset of how much I wish Strider could be ran point like MvC2.

the main idea behind tenderizer is that, similar to chun legs and iron man repulsor blast and dorm dark hole, it’s a fast multi hit thing that keeps the opponent locked in it, mostly for use at the end of combos with web zip otg. it might not work though.

orbital is rather nerfed from its vanilla iteration imo. and stone smite is aight i guess, but it’s almost strictly a combo assist. if people are getting hit by it outside of combos though, then keep running it haha.

You’re right about Stone Smite being a combo only assist. I can’t say I’ve ever seen it used any other way because it starts up so slowly. I know exactly what you mean with Tenderizer being a lockdown assist, but from what know it hits much lower than most assists used for that purpose and it scales more. How is orbital nerfed?

similar to akuma tatsu, opponents flip out earlier from getting hit by it, and it is weak to hitstun deterioration

Spidey/Skrull I think is a long shot at working well

Orbital had it’s armor taken away I believe was the nerf

Zucco and a few others have been telling me he’s pretty bad as an anchor so I’ve avoided the option…working with these ones now. I’m slowly whittling down the possibilities until I think I’ve found that one team.

Spidey/Hawkeye/Doom is incredibly effective at zoning and moving around the board (I really think this is one of the best teams you can have with him outside of sticking Dormammu on the team).

Spidey/Chun/Doom is amazing at rushing down.

Spidey/Wesker/Doom or Taskmaster (<y old team from Vanilla) is just all around solid.

But seriously yeah, move the discussion to the team thread after this one.

Does anyone else feel more dangerous when playing Spider-Man now? With his new webzip options he is just super annoying and I love it. I’m all over the place when I play now and have many new combos to choose from. A great XFC punish combo, it’s easier to hit the web throw.
I NEVER used to be able to hit MS after a web throw because I had issues with the super jump afterwards. But now I just jump straight up and do qcf+AA and Maximum Spider hits! I have to know, is this just do to my spacing from the wall, or does jump MS after web throw always work?

I’m practicing the web throw, air dash xxOTG zip into :m:, :h:, spider sting :h:, spider bite combo… it’s the only thing I feel comfortable using the OTG zip in

It has to do with the new float and the fact that spidey recovers instantly after web throw now where he didn’t before. Air maximum spider travels faster than grounded maximum spider so everything added together makes it easier.

yea… that gave people who had trouble with TK’s an easier time connecting MS to a Web Throw. I’m happy they did it because my TK motion is still a bit “bleh” so it’s a cushion.

still need to learn it man you can TK MS after CA midscreen
