My most wanted change for AE2013

man i can care less about akuma. just make yang a real fucking character again so i can stop playing ken :frowning:

A real Yang would conveniently be strong against Akuma :stuck_out_tongue:

They really need to add more to the story. I need to know what motivates these “street fighters” to fight all the time. So much could have changed during all this time of fighting!

Broken is obviously off, but you make it sound like Gouki is in the middle of the Tier list rather than on #2.

aren’t a lot of the good players starting to think the SSF4 tier list is not as compressed as they originally thought and people are planning on whoring top tier? there was a podcast about it recently after 25th anniversary.

as a general rule I think vortex characters should err on the side of being weaker. for the same reason you don’t want Twelve as top tier in 3s or why it sucks that Claw is so good in ST. gimmicky characters being top tier is a problem in any fighting game.

No I’m not, I play Akuma and IMO he’s at least top 3 in this game.

To have a top tier that doesn’t dominate the game like Vanilla Sagat or third strike Chun/Yun with many 7-3 or even 8-2 matchups just shows how balanced this game truly is, crying about such balanced characters IMO is done by people who want the easy win route for their character.

On a side note iv never really watched ST and after seeing tokido playing claw… lol i feel bad complaining about vortexes in sf4 let alone vega. That seems so brutal o_O

“Mostly 5-5s, with some 6-4s in his favour and against it” == Pretty much the definition of ‘Right in the middle of the pack’.
“Mostly 6-4s, with some 7-3s in his favour and some 5-5s while having very few 4-6s” == Much closer to the actual Gouki placement

Just because Akuma has good pokes people think that he is a no bullshit street fighter character.

Here’s one addition I’d actually like to see: a training mode like SFxT where I can train with my friends over the interwebz.

lol a character with mostly 5-5 and few 6-4 matches is ken and he is the definition of right in the middle of the pack. akuma does not fit that requirement.

Remove invincibility on back dashes.

Remove auto guard.

Remove FADC, at least on invincible moves…

Remove Ultras.

Remove unblockables.

Add a new system mechanic, the game is so dry and so boring… or makes focus attack more creative, evolved because its so limited.

etc…

Yeah, this game sucks.

At least it doesn’t have parry
The worst FG mech EVER
Lucky us

I SINCERLY think so.

I admit that he has more matchups in his favor (6-4) than against it, I didn’t put that right, but who are those 7-3 matchups?

Please don’t tell me Gief, after the numerous nerfs Akuma got (teleport nerf , air fireball nerf, DF nerf…etc) and specially roundhouse nerf (jab SPD punish on block), IMO there’s no way in hell this is a 7-3 matchup anymore.

For that matter I don’t see Chun losing 7-3 to Akuma as well, I feel like that matchup number has stuck since Vanilla, there are barely any Chun players out there right now to judge the matchup correctly after the changes to both characters.

Also IMO there are a lot of characters that people instantly throw them in the losing end of the matchup even though there isn’t enough data/footage about those matchups and quality players to truly judge, e.g E.Ryu or Oni, I honestly see E.Ryu in the right hands going even with Akuma.

Again, it’s all my opinion, Akuma should not be getting any more nerfs because he’s far from being unfair, if rebalancing the game is a must, tweak and fix the weaker characters, e.g El Fuerte, how about making him a real SF character instead of the gimmicky bullshit that he is now.

lolokay

First of all, Gouki doesn’t do anywhere near as much damage as Cammy does. But to say that Gouki plays more SF than anyone except Adon or Fei in the top tier is stupid. There is nothing SF about air fireballs, meterless 3 hit fireballs, teleports, dive kicks, or flips that go almost anywhere on screen at anytime as long as it’s not behind your opponent. So just fuck off if you’re gonna try to defend Gouki because of he plays SF unlike Cammy or some shit.

Gouki has two or three 7-3s in his favor and a lot of 6-4s. Lets be real here. He does have bad match ups and its not like he doesn’t bleed though. Nor does he dominate like vanilla Sagat did (or himself, haha.)

Vortex seems to be this version’s downback craze of SSFIV. I am really confused as to why the hell people keep throwing this around. A vortex means you get put into the same relatively low risk guessing game with many options for guessing wrong. This applies to…nobody but Gouki, and generally only if Tatsu, sweep works. And it’s really weak for a vortex. A strong pressure game or ridiculous mix ups doesn’t mean you magically have a vortex. I guess you could say Cammy has one since she doesn’t need a hard knockdown for her set ups, but that’s pushing it. Ibuki is pretty close but most characters just have to guess left or right. If she goes for anything else, you can usually see it if you know the character well enough.

Claw was not gimmicky and the reason nobody liked him being top tier was because it was fucking annoying. You didn’t get to really guess like you do now, you just kinda hope the Claw player fucked up or you got lucky if you got knocked down. Apparently old Hawk makes his stuff look like shit if he gets you in the corner with todays tech anyway.

^Thats more just semantics though, the core issue remains the same. Though like I’ve said super ambiguous mixups are fair to me IF the person playing defense has a reasonable out after defending the mixup. With OS technology even that gets taken away a lot of times.

Vortex: A specific Mixup performed as the opponent is Waking Up where the player performing the Mixup has a large number of options that must be defended against differently and are difficult to defend properly. Additionally, most, if not all of the possible options also lead to a Knock Down that allows for the same Mixup to begin again.

Mixup: A situation where the attacking player can use multiple options that will each require the defending player to react differently to defend properly.

50/50: A specific Mixup where the main two options for the attacking player cannot be defended against in the same way, requiring the defending player to choose to defend against one or the other. Usually refers to attacking options that are difficult to defend against On Reaction, requiring the defending player to guess. Often refers to a High/Low Mixup, even though most High attacks can be blocked on reaction.

Reset: The act of intentionally ending a Combo in a way that immediately puts the opponent into a Mixup without Knocking them Down.

None of these things are mutually exclusive. As a matter of fact, they all share common ground with the term “mixup.” A 50/50 is basically a vortex but it only requires 2 options and doesn’t allow you to go back into the same mixup. Cammy has basically a 50/50 (empty jump low or throw. amibiguous crossup, throw or instant dive kick.) vortex as guessing wrong puts you right back into the same mix up no matter what option she goes for, same with Ibuki. Cody has 50/50s but unless he goes for a throw they don’t lead to the same situation. Seth has a vortex and great resets, cross up HK or dive kick, empty jump low, cross up or not teleport sonic boom, SPD or SRK, left right mix up after air reset dive kick all of which lead to a knockdown except for the air reset.

Then play another game. You either enjoy the game at this point or you don’t. It’s not an “issue.” The core issue is that people are getting lazy as hell and can’t accept that they are bad at something. I spend way too much time debating match ups on here than I’d like to admit, but I’m not gonna spend three hours a day tweeting Ono on how stupid Cammy, Gouki, and Seth are (guess I might waste that talking about a match up though.) I work on my Yun instead and come up with ways to deal with shit. If the character you use can’t seemingly come up with a counter, then you live with it or use another character if you run into that problem.

If people wanna pick Cody or Hawk while thinking he sucks a bag of dicks and is 4-6 against everyone then that’s their problem. This game has at least ten viable characters with all play styles accounted for and that’s more than enough. Nobody gets in for free unless you stubbornly refuse to pick another character and they struggle hardcore against x.

I really want Yang buffs and Seth’s jumping arms returned but I’m starting to think that I’d rather not have ver 2013.

You misunderstand me, I’m not saying the game is anywhere near broken or unfair or whatever. I have a ton of fun dissecting people’s brains with my character. I was just stating something that’s slightly bullshit, that’s all. In almost all cases the better player still wins. Don’t mistake slight salt for ringing declarations of dooms and gloom lol
