My most wanted change for AE2013

the (sf) world is ending and the day of dudley is upon us

What is this, pre-release Super?

Wasn’t the O. Sagat soft ban proven to be a myth (or at least limited to only one or two arcades)? I recall reading a whole thread on it in FGD a few years back.

In accordance with tradition, overheads will be top tier and Dudley will get a truckload of buffs because of his low tier status.
The second best character will be Yun, who can combo into his overhead already, but will probably get one or two buffs in addition to this.
Boxer’s overhead will probably be made safe on block. Maybe he’ll get his damage back, too.
Gouki will remain viable. Despite Capcom’s decision to make his sweep -12 on block, they increased the frame advantage on hit with his overhead, allowing it to combo into "stuff."
Cody’s Super has been changed to a special effect. When activated, the BGM shifts to “ha HA” until the end of the round. Demoralizing.
Seth has been turned into the “Tanden Ball.” He has no legs or arms, so he can’t dive kick, grab people, or shoot his arms out like Dhalsim does. Easy come, easy go. Still naked.
Cammy has been taken out back and was never heard from again. Ono applied for a temporary shotgun license while he was in the States, I believe the two may be related.

All of this and more can be found on the Internet. Since the person I was arguing with earlier put it so clearly, “I read it on the internet, so it must be true.”

O. Sagat wasn’t banned but people did not like when you picked him for a while in Japan (guess that’s what a softban is tho…)

well, I’m not very sure, but as far as I know, I was surprised when I checked once a list with the best jap players for every character and I didn’t find any o. Sagat mainers (but there were n. Sagat - yaya). There were instead claw, o Honda!! o. Hawk, etc ones.

I’m fairly sure this was the case for Claw too… at least I distinctively recall Tokido stating somewhere that he prefers playing ST in the US because people don’t boo him for picking Claw.

I can’t remember the name of the player but the o Honda from EVO this year was awesome to watch. ST tournament as a whole was one of my favorite moments from EVO this year. Marvel 3 was good, the top 32 for SF4 were amazing the top 8 seemed like the players were running on fumes and just out of energy for the most part. However ST and IWBTG:G were my favs by far.

If there is one game that could ever bring Japan and America together it is ST.

ST is that special kind of broken where it is even better in the long run due to being broken because it means there is a good chance someone will find some tech that shakes things up again like with T Hawk.

Yeah, the ToL was simply Awesome - a Honda in the finals is something amazing in ST. The name of Honda player is Kusumondo - probabelly the best ST Honda in the world. But he was playing n. Honda, not o. one.
ST is the only thing I watched besides SF4 at Evo.

Ah I couldn’t remember if it was o Honda or n Honda. I remembered he had a “K” name but that was it.

I really would love to see another set of the worlds best matching up. The game has been out so long I’m fairly certain it is the only one where arguably Japan, USA and possibly even Europe could all be said to be on equal footing all depending simply on who is playing against who.

Yeah, It would be nice to see another ToL - maybe bringing even more japanese players. But I think Japan has an even bigger advantage in ST, since their scene is stronger compared with Us one.

I want to see Elena and Rolento in the game. Just for the love of god make Elena decent this time. Let her cancel her cr.mk, give her good hitboxes, give her a force standing move, give her some damn combos.

If that’s all too much then please just give her good hitboxes. I’ve taken pictures of her standing heavy kick go half way through somebody’s torso without hitting them. Her cr.mk gets beat out by most low pokes and it doesn’t even have the range of cr.mp.

what a retard whinners…demanding capcom to remove all core aspect (no ultra ? fadc? backdash invicible? are serious?)

at the end you claim this game boring and dry? LOL
get a life and go back whereever you came from…(fps? stupidd rpg?)

^ Would someone ban this troll already?

This whole thread is fail. The usual suspects come in here making demands to nerf shit, failing to realize it was the nerfs that made characters like Akuma and Seth good in the first place. We don’t have Super charge characters like Guile gaining tons of meter with 1.5 sec sonic booms or Honda dishing 20% damage off every mistake with a single headbutt. We don’t have Vanilla Ryu’s godlike crouching forward to keep akuma at check on the ground. We don’t have AE Hong Kong top tier or Vanilla Sagat to say “FUCK YO VORTEX” and go to town on the low life character. Now only a handful of characters give Akuma a hard time and people wanna blame the character instead of the roster, just like in AE with the twins.

I hope there is no v2013 cause it will just continue the cycle.

lol i never though about that as sf4 ae 2012 was the first one i started seriously. but whenever i look at rufus combos from vanilla vs combos now its like jesus… now i see why guides say ex snake strike does a ridiculous amount of damage as well as his ultra. im sitting here in training like “hmm is it really that strong” until i realized the guide was using vanilla numbers.

I just wish i could have played vanilla now that i actually can fadc and combo. Akumas rh loop would have been so fun :frowning:

At the same time im nub. really all the chars are viable at my level so i dont give a shit what happens as long as the competitive scene flourishes

?? You know that Vanilla Gouki and Seth were about the two best characters in the games lifespan, right? Without any nerfs, they’d still be good (actually: far better)…

In a game with Vanilla Sagat? Nah dude, they were good, but not the best, and they were other characters that could hang with/coutnerpick them. Everyone did alot more damage, and those two could lose with just 1-2 mistakes.

A lot of characters would be good without any nerfs.

I still think Vanilla Seth would’ve been the best character in Vanilla if they hadn’t changed the game since then. They’ve just nerfed him constantly since then, and he’s still one of the best characters. For example, teleports and divekick were faster, jump HP, QCB+K did 250 stun on all versions, Ultra with Sonic Boom on screen, as unblockable or lockdown. His worst match-up would probably be Akuma though, since he’d lose 80% from one Ultra if he did a mistake.

I was wondering…what if instead of continuing the trend and nerfing the top, bring back guile, Honda, Ryu, Sagt, HK trio, etc to their former self ? Not completelly to their former self, but still…- meaning, buff the rest of the cast instead nerfing the top.

Except nobody ever did any damage with Seth in SF4 so it’s all theory
