My Most Violent Shot: The Frank West combo thread

Sorry, guys. Went on live for the firs time and totally forgot to check my setups.

Can Frank ToD off a FFC?

It’s definitely worth it to dash under after the QCF H if it means you get the corner as that means you get to insert a wallbounce in the combo. The timing really isn’t hard at all.

On the cast members susceptible to the FFC reset you can lead into it off a FFC so on them ToDs are very practical. On non-susceptible characters it’s harder to get a true ToD and you will probably need to use a lot of meter if you want to kill the higher life ones. This will depend on what assists and DHCs you have of course.

Does anyone have a midscreen bnb SOLO that takes frank from level 4 to 5? That’s what I’m trying to find.

If he can go from lvl 1 to 3 and level 3 to 4 solo there is no reason why he shouldnt have the tools to go from level 4 to 5 mid screen. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

There has to be some sort of loop or jump M to L tools setup we can use within the instant jump m

I could see maybe… jump m-jump m-H X2 to ground chain to something but he has to have some sort of ground chain to something without the use of a wall bounce in the corner to net the 5o hits.

In the corner, you’re basically a scrub frank if you can’t net the 50 hits to get him to level 5 in one combo. That’s easy.

I’ll take a look when I get home, I have a few ideas.

I was thinking you can go for a wall bounce, since that takes you to the corner, but dunno how you could also get 50 hits…

To me, that is the final piece to Frank West as a character perhaps.

Question: When you guys are at level 3 and now have access to FFC do you go for the reset set ups or do you try to level up?

To me, i see 0 purpose to use the FCC resets if you are already hitting them if the ultimate goal is to level up Frank to level 4 and get the hard knockdown into a photo.

The fact that Frank is a GUARANTEED complete and 3x better character at level 4 in comparison to level 3 does not make the risk of the reset worth it imo. I only use it as a true anti air against dive kicks or something extremely obvious.

I don’t go for resets until level 4/5 (my preferred level up combo happens to end in a reset). I sometimes go for FFC unblockable set ups, but only when it obviously presents itself.

So I just hit 950,300 assistless with level 4 Frank (in a combo that has a decent confirm) and I am stuck on improvement. Anyone break 1 mil yet?

Only in XF.

with an assisted confirm (st.M + Cold star > object toss > full combo), I think the absolute max I’ve hit was… 975,000? I don’t think I’ve hit one mil meterless just yet.

Would be helpful if you posted your combo to see if we can find room for improvement. And what do you mean by decent confirm, its possible after a double j.M, j.M, j.H into combo…

Hi all. I’m running into a little bit of a problem. I’m playing a firebrand/frank/skrull team and so my main way of leveling up frank is through TAC and DHC’ing into firebrand’s Luminous body. The problem I’m running into is that after I do franks air combo (M, H, L Tools of survival, m, L tools of survival, m, L tools of survival, knee drop, snapshot) when I do the snapshot the opponent flips out almost instantly. Is there anyway to fix this or am I just getting too many hits in before the snapshot?

Yeah, Firebrand combos take a really long time, so you’ve just exhausted your hitstun deterioration by the time you’re finished with the TAC combo. Possible solutions, try to get hits with Firebrand faster, use an assist to hold them in place when you do the snapshot, or find a team that doesn’t rely on TACs to level Frank. (Looking at the level up database, Firebrand does have guaranteed stuff with Frank but i’m not sure how effective it is)

I played that exact team for awhile and sadly its not very effective. Firebrand has a hard tag setup that is excellent and using that and Skrull’s wall bounce assist you can easily hit level 4, but the team does not synergize well as shopping cart and all of Firebrand’s assists are poor for helpings Skrull, Frank does not get much extension off any of the assists except Stone Smite, and Firebrand does such poor damage and has such poor setups that the team kind of falls apart.

I’m not completely 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure there are TK Dark Fire–> BLS for the sweet spot setups. Those seem to be more effective, so check those out.

I never thought of that. The only problem is spacing as Firebrand tends to carry a good deal for any combo worth DHCing off of. That or he may use his wall bounce.

I had this problem with Wolverine after a TAC into Berserker Rage. I kept making my loops tighter and tighter and tried canceling the knee drop into snapshot faster and faster. Turns out that was the problem. The opposing character bounces into the air ever so slightly after the knee drop. If you take the picture too soon, then they air recover immediately. But, if you wait until the character is laying on the ground it works.

Mid-Screen: c.M, s.H, c.HS, sj.MM x Tools L, M x Tools L, S [land] barrel roll x Tools H, s.HS, sj.HS, [land], snapshot

The hardest part is keeping the M x Tools L, M x Tools L tight so that the air S will connect.

Just posting this here because i’ve only really been talking about it in the Nova forum which is kind of the wrong place.

Nova’s groundbounce assist forces a groundbounce yes? Well no, not really. It was discovered that actually what it does, is ADD a groundbounce to your remaining number of allowed groundbounces, up to a maximum of one and then uses it. In simple terms what that means is that after using your groundbounce, if you can get the Nova assist to hit, and NOT bounce, it restores your groundbounce.

This is huge news for LV.3 + Frank as it gives him easy TODs off Knee Drops, Air MMS, Airthrows and FFCs by doing OTG Tools H, Call Nova, MHS. The Nova assist will hit during the animation for stand H, not bounce and allow you to launch as normal. Giving you a free bounce to use later in the combo for yet another launch, or Tools M goodness.

The timing for LV.3 is tricky, the timing for LV4/5 is braindead easy. It is also possible to get this to work off a regular confirm after the first air series and Tools OTG, but since you can only use Stand H in these situations, it’s impractical for me at the moment. But maybe those with better execution can get it to work. If you do get this, it leads to enormously meter positive TODs.
